I like how linus is over here casually with three 3090s like that isn't a solid 30% of the entire stock of those cards

Ya it does
@David Davidson Your mother is a human, your father is also a human, your sister is another human as well.
@David Davidson you seem to be really personally offended I made the comment - not sure why it matters so much to you, but since its had such a clear negative effect I feel like I should apologize. I'm sorry I spent 30 seconds to make a youtube comment that only 230 people enjoyed instead of the 400 required for it to apparently be worthwhile.
Linus: This is a gaming experience that alot of people may never experience for the next ten year. PC: *Blacks out* Im pretty sure ive experienced this part of gaming many times before
Spat on my monitor. Thanks. That blue screen with a sad emoji, I´ve seen that one before too Linus.
Lmao
I just got the full experience. I was just about to play my game and as it started loading I had my buddy switch off the power on the the power supply. It was pretty a mindblowing experience, definitely once in a lifetime for sure!
God, nothing worse than working all day and thinking I will play something when I get home and my pc has other ideas for the evening. At least I have had only about 4 problems in about 2 years.

Can anyone just imagine Linus turning on his home computer And all the lights in the house just dim slightly as it boots?
My whole house consumes about 1.2kW avg or 2-3kW max, the thought of adding this PC to the load would freaking terrify me, and my wallet.
if i'm correct, that would be the same as plugging just about anything in, a pc cant magically draw more power from 1 outlet, power supplies just convert the amps to more voltage.
My pc used to do that, one of our lights was messed up or something that made it super sensitive to that kind of thing. Turn the washer on? Flicker. Turn the vacuum on? Flicker. Turn on the pc? Flicker
Actually, my 2009 Mac Pro does that when I even wake it up from sleep. My lights will flicker and the cd drives will click and the hard drives spin up. I must say, the power supply in that thing is 950 watts, so it's pretty dang close to Linus'. Also, like other people have mentioned, the vacuum I use does dim the lights when I use it, but I don't know the wattage of it

There is no 3090 to defeat your 1050, because it isn't and never will be in stock.
@Standard User Name for a very small free of one of my kidneys
@Standard User Name damn, guess I'll sell some other body parts too. The laptops bottleneck very quickly because of the cooling. So the 30 series mobile are not even drawing out their full power. On top of that, you can't physically take out the graphics card since it is literally built in.
@Standard User NameThe price is fairly expensive, and doesn't last that long, and its prime time where it performs the best is only about 2-3 years from once you've bought it. It's just not worth it to get a gaming laptop imo. I'd wait for about another year or 2.
@Standard User Name I'd atill rather play with a console since games would be finely tuned for it, or a high-end pc, the only reason I see myself getting a gaming laptop would be because of the fact it's mobile. A pc would cost the same, and you could get more performance out of it, and it would last longer.

Man 15 years ago I was so excited for SLI, but never got a chance to get that 2nd card through multiple mainboards. Looking back, I'm glad I never spent the money.
@cpong I never could treat SLI seriously, for a 100% more investment you would have usually something like 20-30% increase in performance and not in every game.. seems like a waste of money for me.
2x GTX 690 (i.e. GTX 680 4GB, the EVGA FTW+ card) was probably the best scaling and also in the best era for SLI (2011-2015 games and all the SLI games that were released after the 8800 GTX like Crysis). GTX 680 SLI was between a GTX 970 and GTX 980 in performance, and GTX 690 SLI beats a GTX 1080 (non-Ti). The benefit of SLI had 2 primary reasoning back then: 1. A way for a gamer who invested $599 on an EVGA GTX 680 FTW+ in 2012 to invest only $300-400ish in 2015-2017 on a second EVGA GTX 680 FTW+ and reach the performance of a $549 980 or $599 1080 without having to invest in a completely new system, or more importantly: 2. A way for a gamer in 2012 to spend $1200 on the performance that no one else gets to experience for another half a decade. Basically become a god. Seriously, that's why people are paying $1300 for an RTX 4090 lmfaooo. You gotta pay for the best. You could 3-way SLI and even Quad-SLI the 600 series cards, and in that era (Witcher, Tomb Raider, Crysis, Arkham, etc.) the games did actually have good SLI scaling (as shown by Linus here in this video with Tomb Raider). So that was a magical time, indeed. Not to mention even if the game didn't explicitly scale that well with SLI, SLI still have you a ton of headroom when moving to higher resolutions or rendering SSAA. So, yeah 15 years ago when 8800 GTX SLI pioneered it and you got excited, the sweet spot was 11 years ago to 8 years ago. Sadly, that era is over, as nvidia would rather you buy a new $1000 GPU every other year rather than pick up a second 2-4 year old GPU. Shame really. The technology is where the future is as nvidia has been saying "Moore's Law is dead" and are trying to justify how overpriced/low performance some of their new cards are compared to expectations. Sounds like 2, 3, and 4 way SLI should be the future, but that doesn't maximize their bottom line. tl;dr if you can go back in time to the mid 2010s, try out the EVGA GTX 680 FTW+ 4GB (i.e. GTX 690) in SLI. Enjoy.
I had 2x 970's, used it in multi seat gaming, could play 3x dying light in high detail with my friends on one machine, I would absolutely get multiple again if they were supported on 3080's

Jensen - "Not a Supply issue" Linus - "Gotta send back the manufacturers only card" Hmmm
Supply issue is a vague term. Is it that they made too few cards? Or that the initial demand massively outstrips what they can output in the long term? If demand is so high, why not ramp up production? Well, because Nvidia doesn't expect demand to stay this high. Demand always drops off after a few months. Even with corona wallets bulging. If Nvidia invested millions into increased production capacity, they would end up having to shut down lines in 5 months time when the cards don't sell like hotcakes anymore. So yeah, it's a supply issue. But it's hard to blame anyone specifically for it, when you factor in the realities of manufacturing anything.
@@Erowens98 you should go research import leaked numbers. They are very low.
@@Erowens98 bad yields on samsung 8nm, that's why there is a supply issue
@@Erowens98 nvidia doesn't have "production capacity", they don't own a fabs. So there is few possible reason why you can't get these cards - they didn't order many at all (didn't book enough production lines), samsung have very low yields or as third nvidia make artificial shortage to pump up prices over their own msrp for some reason (higher manufacturing cost of cards than planned due high power demand or something).
@@gorjy9610 it doesn't matter who fabricates the chips. Whoever does, has a limited production capacity that can not be increased without investment that would not be feasible to make for a short term spike in demand. Especially not one so large as the one caused by the current pandemic, which has caused some of the highest gpu demand in history. Not ordering enough can be exactly because it was not possible to order more without investing in higher production capacity/storage facilities As for Nvidia trying to drive up prices. They're a monopoly, they can charge whatever they want. If they wanted to drive up prices, they'd set them higher. Heck, they could have set them at $1000 for a 3080 and still claimed they're cheaper than last gen. And they certainly would not set Msrp to be so low it wouldn't compensate for low yield.
I could see how this might be useful in industrial/enterprise/research/server/whatever headless hardware. Those occasional dips in performance don't really matter when you're not gaming, especially when the cards are running headless anyways.

I need 6x 8 pin PCI Express connectors for my now a bit dated 2 Radeon Pro Duo cards. That's 4 GPUs. And where software actually is able to exploit them, they still deliver very decent performance. CyberPunk 2077 runs in 4K on only 1 GPU with most settings at minimum, as they don't support multiple GPUs, and while it's not very fast (around 30 FPS), it does work, so those were fairly decent GPUs. If they supported mutiple GPUs, the performance would be quite spectacular on my system. Given the graphics card shortage - which will probably last for a long time to come - I'd say game developers would be well advised to support multiple GPUs again. haha, early justin y comment
NOT YOU AGAIN SERIOUSLY WHY ARE YOU EVERYWHERE
Hi everywhere to be seen guy
Justin you don't know a thing about computers. You only know how to come up with useless overrated jokes for 9 years
6:15 Linus should be hired for reading the fine print at the end of commercials.
I know Steves tests showed that basically all of Nvidias recommended GPU power requirements were ~100W higher than necessary, in this case two 3090s hit a recommendation of 1100W, so with the random spikes Linus talks about it makes sense that 1000W just won't cut it.
"She's a heavy boy for sure" 2:20 My brain malfunctioned for a sec
i know right
Interestingly, as my native language is gender neutral, I don't even notice things like that.

@PainkillerX auction it
Pls go to to 3:41 , pause it, set the video speed to 0,25 and look at how much the first graphic card moves during the bump xD
Linus: 'All right, let's put these tiny plastics in a 1000W heater'
@@GregFRDT it looks crazy in slo mo, but actually it’s fine, switch back to normal and that’s the normal wear and tear every graphics card suffers from.

Would love to see this again with the 12900k
Red Dead usually boots up with the black screen if you're running it for the first time, but i don't know how long you idled it for. Side note: i noticed two of the front fans weren't spinning...unless the camera is just so powerful that it looks like it was standing still when it spins.
They said we could SLI, but no one stopped to think SHOULD we SLI.

I'm early so pls don't drop it Linus
We can pray, but we can’t stop him
Just think about the drops behind the scenes. What if the shortage of 3000 series gpus is simply because linus dropped all of them, rather than convenient scalping.
Drop the bass
@@MisterRorschach90 he probably already dropped the 4090 Ti
It's wierd that the video was out 34min ago, but ur comment is out for 35min ago. Wtf
That´s the kind of love I gave my dual Fury X
Hey Linus, can you test how this setup works for multiple gamers 1 vgpu (multiple gpus with vlink over hyperv/proxmox)?
whenever linus says “just like” you know the sponsor is coming
Lol

Linus ought to prank us by sprinkling "Just like(s)" through out the entire segment to dial up the segway-suspense!

Yep, EPIC! xD
yeah still got 2 1080ti's in my system, but lately just disabled sli can get it working most of the times, but usaly get 50 to 70% usage on both cards so often not worth the hassle as i just want to game for my rare free time was planning on upgrading to the 30 series, but not for these prices. hopefully 40 serie will be slightly better
Even after all these years and how much this channel has grown, 'Linus tech tips' Still abides by its name, thats why I love it :)
I'd buy a "F--- motion blur" t-shirt.
Just motion blur out the letters U C K
Please.
Oh hell yeah
Why do you hate motion blur?
@@Cemtexify Per object motion blur at high framerates can be pretty good. Per object motion blur at low frame rates has less frames to give a sense of motion blur and looks choppy. Full screen motion blur... always looks terrible in my opinion.
"everything maxed. except motion blur. ****** motion blur." finally, a man of culture.
What's wrong with motion blur?
Motion blur is the one thing that adds a ton of realism to games. In racing sims, it literally completely changes the whole experience, there is nothing wrong with it except in fps shooters.
If it's per-object motion blur instead of camera blur, people consider that a good thing.
@@ainslotic2028 It makes it hard to see while moving lol

linus the msi z490 godlike was different than the one i found on amazon with the differences being that the part that covers the io has a different look to it and the on amazon doesn't have 4 pcie express slots but 3 pcie express slots
I’ve got an older pc core 2 duo socket 775 it’s an intel quadcore running at 3.2ghz with 8gb ddr3 ram and a nice pair of nvidia gtx980 cards in sli. The only game I have ever had an issue with was call of duty. I am running a much older graphics card driver as the updated ones for windows7 ultimate was not good. Some where nvidia adjusted the way sli worked in the earlier days of sli one card did lower half of screen and the other did the upper half. The newer version uses one card to run the display and the second card to processes for the other card. I now my pc is a dinosaur but it still smokes the games a enjoy to play without issues so I have no need to upgrade it. If I want to play more modern games then I would have to replace it. How ever I am on my 4th coolermaster psu my last one is the biggest cooler master made 1200 watt platinum and be honest to psu is stretched by time you got a few hard drives and cooler with case lights.

Glad someone else caught that also.
The subtitles also like that, dual 4090 xD
did linus made a test on the 3080 btw? i wonder how good it is

So true😂🤣😂🤣
Well the dudes a millionaire. What do you expect?
godly gpus *that he has to send back to ASUS*
Well yeah, it's just a graphics card.
I really miss when the thermal camera was a plasti-dipped iPhone 5...
Though
Well, each 3090 can draw a maximum of 525W (3 x 150W + 75W PCI-E) alone. 2 of those and the intel processor easily goes past 1000W
didnt look at the release date and would have never notcied cause 3090s are still worth thier weight in gold and out of stock, almost one year things havent changed.
