    • @Parlay-xb8ez nigga... Ayton is a no1 pick, the expectations are high for him, he's held to a higher standard than others . As a no1 pick, you cant be the type of player Ayton is mentally. How tf you get outplayed by Jock Landale as no1 pick? Ayton was chosen no1 cuz he was good, but sometimes, being good aint enough, you have to strive to become better and better each game, and that demands dedication and effort, which Ayton clearly lacks. 16 and 10 aint bad, but for someone like Ayton, this is not the averages he should have. Centers like Brook Lopez and Jalen Duren put those numbers, which are good, for their standards. Ayton is supposed to be better than them, and he avg less than that. This is not acceptable for someone of his caliber

Very dominant series on both ends shooting like 70% from the field. Thought he was only gonna get better smh. Guys like Ayton and Ben Simmons just don’t care enough about being great. I know it’s gonna sound like I’m bull$hittin’, but I’m a Suns fan and wanted Luka over Ayton for the no. 1 pick (I’ll admit that I was also convinced that Dragan Bender and Josh Jackson were gonna be the next great front court duo 😳). I was at UA while DA was there, and I keyed in on how poor of a defender he was for his combo of size and how gifted of an athlete he was. Don’t get me wrong, he improved as a defender with the Suns, but it was always clear that the passion just wasn’t there. You just can’t win the big one with guys like that.

He was pretty good in his time at phoenix, and even tho he is making some absolutely braindead decisions with his rotations and benching Ausar from the end of December till like the beginning of February, he’s started to use his brain. Ayton on the other hand is absolutely a bum, got Monty fired then left to be a trash can on one of the worst teams in the league.

    • I feel like a lot of these high draft pick players basically spent from like 14 or 16 years old to 20 basically being told they are a star and knowing they will make the NBA. Therefore knowing they will be rich as F. Nowadays they only spend 1 year in college. The whole time often pampered and being covered and praised similarly to an NBA star with all the Media coverage. Even if they dont succeed in March Madness they often still are considered in the top 5 for the draft. I feel like a lot of this has led to massive egos and complacency on some of their part. They are naturally talented, and athletically superior to most of their competition until the NBA. Even a poor March Madbess they can convince themselves it was the team. Then they get to the NBA with the same mentality and same work ethic. Ayton for example gaming late until the night. It never hindered him before so he doesnt change. The NBA level is elite and u gotta work for it no matter what. LBJ is a crazy human specimen basically made for Basketball. Dude still spent so much time in the Gym honing his skills and improving physically. If u are convinced u will succeed purely bcuz u were told so and have so far up to that point done just that it's often a major wake up call. Some players recognize this and put in that work. Others let their Ego get in the way and blame everyone but themselves. Examples being Simmons and Ayton. Look at Giannis or Curry. Neither was believed to reach the level they have when they were teens and young adults. Giannis had to work hard as shit and coming from Greece was not given any special treatment. Instead he was doubted. Curry wasnt considered big or strong enough. Being just a 3 pt shooter specialist and nothing more. He took a small program in Davidson to what the Elite 8 or Final 4 (honestly forget) No one had been saying this kid is the future of the NBA. He put in the work though and reached an elite level.

      @matthewstein5854@matthewstein5854Ай бұрын
  • It’s weird because by all means, Ayton isn’t a “bust”, he’s never had major injury issues that killed his career like Ben Simmons or Greg Oden, his game translated to the modern NBA unlike Jahil Okafor, and he contributed early to a contender. What Ayton lacked was drive, if the Phoenix Suns were a sink, then Ayton was a plumber with all the tools to fix the sink, but no idea what the hell he was supposed to use them for

We are getting so many guys who simply don’t care, gear and training regimes have improved so much to the point where guys who put little to no effort look stronger physically then guys who religiously worked on their bodies in the 90s. • As a former DA supporter and current Suns fan, I think the label "NBA's biggest disappointment" feels unfair. Yes his last 2 years with the Suns were HELL as a fan given his inconsistent production and questionable level of buy-in, but if we're being real with ourselves, he's not a bigger disappointment than Ben Simmons, Anthony Bennett, Marvin Bagley, or Markelle Fultz. The microscope that DA is placed under isn't anywhere the same as the one placed on the players I mentioned, even though Ayton HAS that playoff success that the former players at that top 3 pick level don't have. Don't get it twisted, Ayton is NOT the player he was in 2021, but just because that's the case doesn't make him the league's biggest disappointment.

  • If you go look at all of the scouting reports on Ayton back in 2018 leading up to the draft, all of his weaknesses were well documented and they are in full display for everyone to see. They said he takes plays off on defense which is painfully obvious, he was a poor shot blocker which he is, he settled for jumpshots instead of establishing good post position for better opportunities which he does, he did not have a nose for the ball which is still true. He needed to be drafted to a team with excellent player development coaches for bigs which the Suns do not have. The Suns made the huge mistake and are now paying for it.

Great first 3 years, and that 2021 playoff run up until the Bucks, he looked like we finally got another Amare on our hands. 18 and 10 is great for a center, people are so used to seeing Embiid and Jokic stats every week they fail to appreciate these guys. It frustrated me watching him take quarters off during the game, standing around watching the game, instead of dominating, or "Domin-Ayton" as he says. Dude has legit skills, but lacks the mental toughness or aggression to take over games. Maybe it's the laid back Bahamian island culture that is too chill for the NBA, who knows??
