That said, with two kids under 3, I really appreciate being able to get a quick, easy picture of good quality of rambunctious kids, that I'd otherwise miss with a fully manual camera. The biggest improvement they made was having the camera app crash on you after 15 minutes so you can be spared the embarrassment of using this phone. If they are lucky enough in the next 5 yrs maybe Sony would finally appear on the top 20 list of best smartphone maker company...I really hope they can atleast sold 100 phone a year now that would be record breaking for them. • They are not competitive at all and they do not need to be. They know exactly what they are doing. They know who their customers and market are. I have been using Sony phones for almost my whole phone-using life. And I hope they keep doing this. The pricing too is perfect. It keeps the average Joe who is always concerned about money spent on unpopular phones, away from Sony phones. Anyone can buy Samsung and Apple phones given the money. But you need more than money to buy a Sony phone. And all the Genuine Sony fans know this and do not want to change that part about Sony marketing. Its like the difference between Buying a Lamborghini and any other sports car like Ferrari, Aston, McLaren. Any guy with money can buy a Lamborghini. And I am definitely not saying Lambo, iPhone, galaxy are bad products. And neither I am saying that Xperia, Ferrari, Astons are best products. My point is that some products are exclusive to Limited people who truly appreciate differences. Let Sony Xperia stay one of those product.

The AI and auto tuned cameras in modern phones should have redundant manual option modes. _(all the options, not the limited stuff that look like them)_ One of my biggest issues is that with all the pixels in these new cameras, most of it is noise, the end result no better than a professional 1-3MP shot. So in most cases good enough, and fast, but they could be much better.

  • I used to own the Xperia 10 IV, there were many features that I liked about this phone but as a mid range phone it was way too underpowered and slow in my view than other phones within this segment. However the key thing here is Sony Xperia phones only come with 2 years of software support which is the lowest out there and if your spending £500-£1000 on a new phone that is only going to last you two years, it makes no financial sense (poor investment). On the other hand Samsung phones, many of their phones provide 5 years of software support, which makes more sense so no Sony is not better. If money is no object and you want to change your phone every year then no problem. £500-£1000 your talking iphone money here and Apple also provide 5-7 years software support, why would you go for one that only provides two years before you have to buy another phone?

  • The thing about the image quality which is explained fairly well in this video, but not well enough is that the phone itself is meant for professional use, they don't focus on the utomatic features of the camera, because learning how to use the manual settings is quite easy on this phone, AND once you learn to use them, it competes with the iPhone 13 Pro Max easily! The potential in this phone is so much bigger than most people see, and Sony will definitely become much bigger now!

I would never spend a thousand dollars to buy a phone with no headphone jack and a meager 128Gb of memory, so Samsung isn't even on my short list. A brand-new S22 Ultra 128Gb model only has 88Gb of free memory when you un-box it. The OneUI and other Samsung crapware consume nearly 20Gb of a Samsung's memory, and you can't delete most of it. (Pixel 6 has 108Gb free space out of the box). I enjoy high fidelity music with my phone, and that requires a good DAC and a headphone jack.

  • In terms of camera, I'm only hoping it will be one that shines when used in manual mode. If it has good (for a phone) hardware and an app that lets you set everything manually, then I think it will be great in hands on someone who knows what they're doing. I do kinda hope it also comes in white though...

    • Sony's customer support is abysmal compared to Apple's and Samsung's. I've had instances where Samsung will replace a product for free outside of the warranty period for some issues, while Sony will refuse to refund/replace a product within the warranty. Things might have changed but that's just my experience.

    • @@theoutcastvirus2792 also, while talking about hardware: we stopped repairing Sony phones in our stores altogether. They are somehow always breaking when you repair them, change the battery and some mic dies, swap a screen and all of a sudden WiFi not working. Stuff like this should never happen (we only employ trained technicians btw, so they know what they're doing). It's just Sonys internal shit design that leads to this. I myself have stopped buying Sony products when they butchered the PS portable family and the Vita. Sony literally lost me as a customer forever.

  • Sony phone looks good. A lot of the time you did photo phot comparisons saying it was lacking computation, I actually preferred the sony image, outside of the indoor night shot. Sony are slowly catching up, but, do agree, the aony camera interface is very clunky and my initial regret leaving Canon. So not sure its the best idea for phones. If anything, I always thought, the camera that can get a mobile phone interface in the camera first, would be the overall winner.

  • I've been and still using Sony phones since my very first phone, by that time it was a Sony Ericsson, so almost 15 years now. Even though I am always supporting Sony, it's undeniable that they are not able to compete with the other phones like iPhone, Samsung or Huawei in some features, but overall, they keep their spirit. I hope they can get back to the race with more creative innovations, instead of just focusing on camera hardware (which is, by the way, already top).
