Variable aperture is so valuable for photographers. Being able to control depth of field to get more in focus is key for any kind of photography, especially as sensors get larger. Also, stopping down lenses generally increases the sharpness significantly
Looks like it only has two options. Either you choose 1.9 or 4. Sounds more like a non-professional feature than a useful tool for photographes

As a former Redmi user I agree I have experienced that it’s not really dead dead for battery and it’s a great feature for emergencies.
I was testing the phone at a local XiaoMi flagship store. The phone now comes with phone case with threaded 67mm screw bezel + lens cap which you can attach a polarised /ND filter. It also comes with a bluetooth trigger gun grip which attaches to the side of the phone to replicate the look and feel of a Leica M camera. I noticed that the photos taken with the 13 pro has a slight vignette to it, I think it was more of an aesthetic touch, similar to how it's camera renders sky capture to have a deep blue hue.
Xiaomi really said "but im not done yet" in the battery test.

The Xiaomi 13 Ultra's front Camera really raised Arun's anxiety.
I honestly have yet to hear of anyone using the front camera off a smartphone for anything, especially for business oriented case scenarios. If I suddenly couldn't choose between any other flagships I wouldn't care.

A really, really good video.I'm very impressed by Xiaomi's camera system, and it really does seem like it beats the iPhone in the camera. If they were to improve the front camera,by having the 4K video, and improving selfie quality, then that would be even better.
The quality of the videos you're shooting is just insane, great directing, writing; great job!
10:15 it's not just Xiaomi, the entire world is confused as to why Chinese phones's front camera can't do 4k.
Cause it's acutally 4mp camera...
Except for Motorola, Honor, Huawei, and Meizu.
@Nicco MRVL Edit:That guy was saying even his mi11t can 4k No it can't. We are talking about front camera and yes, your 11t's front camera also records garbage 1080p 30fps video.

That f4.0 aperture is necessary in large sensor cameras. When we record video in bright daylight, even with the lowest ISO, the shutter speed should be 1/800 to 1/3000 to get correct exposure. Videos with that high shutter speed looks jittery especially if you're filming in 24/30fps. At f4, the shutter speed can be lower, creating slight motion blur that looks natural.
@@romidontplaythat5795 Well that is extra money you are spending, but yeah it does indeed help
I've shot many video at like 1/4000+ at 30fps and it looks completely fine. There's just no motion blur, so it can be weird at first but once it's processed on KZhead, it's really hard to notice.
Most youtubers either don't know enough about mobile photography or are simply paid by the competition to ignore it. You could simply watch their reviews about LG phones to understand. Samsung pays better, so they're the best ... ;)
Can somebody explain wtf he/she just said? In lamen terms.
@@WindRipples- Large sensor and fast apeture means more light, if that light is too much, the exposure for each frame of the video will be done in a tiny fraction of a millisecond. Which makes videos look a quick slide show of pictures than a fluid motion.
Thanks for the review. Leica M/Q user here. Got the Chinese 13 Ultra. The shortcuts to the various 35/50/75mm lens are great fun and Leica-like photos effects straight off the camera if you dont want to spend time editing in LR. Great blacks, tones, low noise. Doesnt overexpose like Sam/IP. However this is my first time with a Chinese phone and there are some majr drawbacks on the OS (like google maps doesnt fully work, cant change deafult AI to google assistant ). So wait for the official launch in your country. Great camera otherwise (the rest of the phone is just top notch Android).
Or just flash Xiaomi eu. Works great
You have the chinese OS. Xiaomi has available a version for your country/region of choice on their website and pretty much every country that's not china uses google services by default.
The automatic hibernation mode is a great idea, all phone should definitely have it as and option and also would be cool to choose when it happen like at 5% instead.
Oneplus has something similar called super power saving. This one allows you control when you want super power saving to kick in. I normally have power saving at 20% and super at 5%. It lasts for ages if you are only using basic functions
It is there on almost all the Xiaomi phones. It is called ultra battery saver and I use it often.
@@davidkanu7264 Yeah the ultra just toggles it on automatically but hibernation and Ultra battery saver does have a few differences I think.
Actually the f4.0 feature is necessary I think for these modern sensors! I am suffering with very soft/blurry edges on the photos of my pixel 7 pro. I ve seen this same problem with the iphone 14 pro max as well. Very obvious when scanning documents or just taking photos of text.

Smaller aperture is useful when you want to take a picture of something that is close and you want everything to be in focus: two people standing one in from of other, food, documents... It is also useful when you are recording 24/30 fps video in sunlight because it will allow longer shutter speeds which will make video less choppy. There is a reason why real cameras have variable aperture.

I feel like the f4 camera would be super helpful for video. The only reason 24p feels "jittery" is because when phone cameras have a f-stop value that is fixed super wide open, they have to take down the shutter speed to compensate which causes an unsettling lack of motion blur. Having a lense at f4 would likely help with some of that I feel.

Good test as usual but a shame not to have talked about the zoom part because two dedicated sensors for that is not very common and it seems a good alternative to the S23U
Shutting at F4 increase sharpness around the image, f1.9 focus more the subject, so you may shoot F4 when landscapes for example to obtain best sharpness all the frame (if you want it). People who know and shoot manual will use it. If you dont care the phone will do for you when it thinks what is in scene and what do you want to shoot.
Arun - Aperture variations aren't for that. As much as we like background blur, when taking group shots, we cannot have someone out of focus just because they are standing even a bit away. Also when scanning documents, You simply couldn't get the whole page in focus. Agreed though they must allow 4k 60 on front camera and use better processing
That F4 is actually useful when u just try to capture close small things in focus like a receipt or something. Because big sensors have to much shallow depth of focus

Samsung has the power saving mode too. It's the Maximum Power Saving Mode. When it's turned on, my Note 9 can go as low as 0% but i can still use it for an hour, even longer than that sometimes. I can still play music, heck even watch YT.
it increases depth of field and that is important for photographers.I mean to say, cameras go up to F32 and we are only talking F4 .The whole idea is it actually brings objects into sharper focus , for instance, you can focus on your ear with a 1.8 aperture and the point of focus will be in a focus but every thing else will be out of focus after about an inch at a distance of 4 feet from the subject resulting in a lot of out of focus shots.Having f4 eliminates a lot of out of focus shots when shooting at a close distance for instance a macro shot will have more of what you are shooting in focus ., shooting someones face and using the tip of there nose as the focus point at a close distance will result in the face being soft using F1.8 but will be in focus using an f4 stop.

I think the reason why the charging is slower on this one ("slower" but still leagues faster then Samsung or Apple's fastest which isn't included). Is that they finally added USB 3.x support. Technically the USB standard doesn't support 210 Watts of power, so I think a lot of it might be them changing pinout. But now they finally have their first phone with USB 3.X which at least for me is a big deal, as I use USB C to HDMI cables regularly, and you can use all in one docs and Samsung dex like features in the future. But all of these things require USB 3.X speeds. That's an addition to the obviously much faster transfers, it was one of the few things they were missing. So I hope they keep it going and don't return to 2.0. So people like me can plug their phone into TVs.
Xiaomi finally supporting the features the USB 3.x "phone standard" brings is a game changer, one which could make my next main phone a Xiaomi-brand one. Having the ability to do what I want to on my phone is a necessity. And this is coming from one that likes the brand's phones, and have used a few from the different models and sub-brands it has.
No, because there are other Chinese phone have 120W charging and USB 3.X support, the reason xiaomi went 90W for this phone is because of the energy density. The faster you can charge your phone, the lower energy density your battery get, because of the 4 camera system 13 ultra have, there is very little place left for battery, hence 90W with higher energy density.
Finally someone says it. In my opinion, USB 3X charging speeds are fast enough when supported properly, so the extra capabilities are worth the tradeoff in charging speed.
But Galaxy S23 Ultra is capped with USB 3.1 Gen 1 - 5 Gb/s.. it's slow as we should have 20 Gb/s now
Leagues faster than samsungs? Lol dude samsung phones charge in under 1h with 25W. This xiaomi has 4x the wattage and charges 10min faster. That's atrocious 😂
