  • love your content, but i really think you should've compared it with something like a steam deck, since thats the market the rog ally is targeting. comparing it wth the switch is kinda like apples to oranges, because nintendo and asus have two different segments they're targeting, nintendo targeting casual gamers and rog targeting those who want to play pc level games on the go. just a thought. love your vids though!

    @actuallyarnav@actuallyarnav Жыл бұрын
    • Exactly, I like many Switch games, but Nintendo has been a toy company for over a hundred years. Their target has always been families with children, so they market to children. Asus is a computer component and hardware manufacturer who has never marketed to children. It would’ve been better to compare this to other handheld PCs.

  • 9:33 Valve has done a lot of work for this kind of stuff specifically for years now. If you are playing on handheld, on TV or streaming, Big Picture mode should be used which changes everything to be useable with controller and touchscreen with more ease. What's shown on the video is regular Steam desktop overlay for games and that also completely changes when opening games through Big Picture.

    @marioysikax@marioysikax Жыл бұрын
    • This and the big ignoring of the existence of the steam deck just proved that Arun didn't really make his full research before making this video. And also that he is probably not that big of a gamer himself, or at least not a PC gamer.

      @Alirezarz62@Alirezarz62 Жыл бұрын
    • @@azenyr I feel like there's huge value for these devices to be used by regular people. Because if normie who only plays with Switch or phone picks this up, what is their experience with this device? So I feel like they would've almost done disservice with review by doing too much research as consumer would have to do same research, just the framing of the video "which is better" with scoring system makes these kind of factual inconsistancies pop up harsh. So what I personally think happened is that they just opened and used this device, which means they most likely used Asus proprierary software to manage and launch game - which then means even Steam games get opened through desktop mode. This is why Steam Deck is so praised as it's all Big Picture essentially and to go to desktop you have to specifically go to desktop, so even new to PC gamers would not have these kind of issues. I don't know if there is or if Steam can implement it so that external launchers can launch games in Big Picture mode instead, so people using this device as sold, using Asus ROG build in software like Asus intents, this might be a problem normie tier users get with their device unless they realize to stop using the launcher and use Steam Big Picture instead.

      @marioysikax@marioysikax Жыл бұрын
    • Plus the fact that he had games library on a tie had me burst out laughing. And on the same note on price including games, and accessories, most ppl already have a game library they can play out the box on ally and don't have to fetch out $50+ for a game like Nintendo and their accessories are no where near cheap. Ally would have more to come and third parties will start making plus existing things that already works with pc, works with Ally. ie Asus xg mobile gpu, external HD, keyboard/mouse.. heck u can turn it into a full on PC as your main and take it with you with just a usb c unplugged. He literally tried too hard to make these 2 a tie to create controversy

      @grasz@grasz Жыл бұрын
    • @@graszI think he meant for game library what are the game options for that specific device. Not quantity, but what it is available. While the ROG has Steam and emulators, there are still other alternatives, while Nintendo is exclusive, you can't really play those games if you don't own one. Let's take in consideration that Arun owns lots of devices and lots of them are capable of running Steam, while the Switch is on its own. I totally disagree with him about prices, the switch is too much pricey than ROG+Steam games

      @Emma_madison@Emma_madison Жыл бұрын
    • @@Emma_madison true, but this was when a Portable PC was First Released into the Mainstream Market. Before the Steamdeck, Nintendo was the Sole Competitor of the Portable Console Market. But the Steamdeck revolutionized Everything because it offered PC Games with the same Portability of the Switch. This why the Steamdeck was Compared to the Switch, basically put, "Hey, we have a product that has the same Portability of the Switch...BUT can play PC Games". Now with the Ally it basically Needs to be compared to the Steamdeck because the Steam deck set the Universal Standard of Portable PC Consoles.

  • Regarding the Asus Rog Ally, I'm really excited about its potential. However, I think I'm going to hold off on purchasing it for now and wait for further revisions to the hardware and software. As an early adopter, I've learned that companies often make improvements based on user feedback. Take the example of the improved fan in later orders of the Steam Deck. So, I believe it's wise to give Asus some time to refine their product before jumping in. Can't wait to see what they come up with in the future.

There is also the resale value, as the cartidge retains more of it's value in the long run than a cd for example. You can just sell it after you are done playing it, if that is something you want to. You can also lend it to friend. You cannot do that with a download. Anyway, Great video as always. And as a casual player, a used Switch Lite for 100 was a easy choice for me. I'm a Switch OLED owner and I was seriously considering buying an Ally, but I've also have a strong gaming laptop so I've decided that buying something which is not completely a portable console and not completely yhe strongest gaming device will be a mistake. Since you're basically forced to have your Ally plugged in 24/7 if you want to play for a longer time, at that point you're probably better of with a PS5/PC. A lot of gamers are like Arun who don't play older games especially when some of them are such a hassle to get playing (trust me, I'd know). But yes there are timeless games and I do think its a bit of a close minded statement honestly as someone who sees games as art. But I don't blame Arun for saying that especially because he definitely doesn't have time to play most games, let alone older ones that are hard to get running even on PC. There are some games that are better than their older counterparts but also games that are better than newer ones, and then there's just the ones in between that aren't neither worse, nor better, just good games. Just what Arun values is different than us, and I don't think he entierly means older games aren't just as good, but probably just not worth his time to get into with his lifestyle, and thats okay.

She said it looked ugly, because it was getting old by that point. Then I convinced her to give it a try. A few months later I noticed she had put 115 hours into it.
