    • Okay, I like Arun, his mostly right about a lot of tech, but his experience with his EV does not match the majority of EV users in the UK. I've been driving EV for 4 years now and I've had 0 issues, I've never had to wait 3 hours for a charge, EVER. The issue he made here is the EQS is just not a good car, sure it says Mercedes on the front, but they're are reletively inexperienced making EVs. Tesla, Kia, Hyundi, BYD, MG, Fiat, Audi all make far better EVs and have significantly more experience at making them. Also there is significant misinformation in his 'opinion' on this. Traffic does not impact EV batteries. If the car isn't moving, its barely using energy. The heater will make a small impact but most EVs are now heat pump based and you'll be looking at losing 1-2% of battery per hour at the most. Range lies, well thats on Mercedes here. My Tesla Model 3 gets the range stated most of the time in Spring/Summer/Autumn, maybe 20% less in winter.

      @daniel_960_@daniel_960_8 ай бұрын
    • @@BenWeatherillBut do you regularly drive 300 Miles like he said he does? Sure, it's really bad marketing on Mercedes, but the problem persists. Finding a free charger, when you are in dire need of one is way more challenging than finding a free pump. And if a pump is occupied, it's available within the next 5 minutes. A charge-stop can set you back another 30 minutes to a couple of hours. Sure, you could just charge up for like 10 minutes, but then you are back at the same problem after 100 miles. Commuting with an EV makes sense, if you can recharge overnight. But for longer distances it's just painful.

    • Mechanical keyboards are overrated IMO. They used to be very common back in the 80's and 90's but fell out of favor for membrane keyboards, who where softer and quieter. Try working in an office with 20 of those being used at the same time and you'll understand why... Main reason why they are making a comeback now it's due to the influencer hype and the fact they have become a sort of status symbol among gaming enthusiasts. If you've got a mechanical keyboard and it works for you then great, but the reality is most people don't need one. The best keyboard you can get is one you like and feel comfortable using. Membrane keyboards are cheaper, quieter and often times sleeker (which makes them more ergonomic without needing to buy extra accessories like wrist rests). And honestly, why spend 100-200$ when you can just go for a fully functional 20$ keyboard? I understand the alure of following the hype train and wanting to try things, but really, more important than what others say is what you think is best for you and your situation... Don't feel bad if your opinion doesn't align with current trends.

      @ivoryowl@ivoryowl9 ай бұрын
    • i think it's a use case issue, main reason for choosing mechanical keyboards is N-Key rollover (ability to hold down many keys at once and they all register), Membrane keyboards are usually 4-Key rollover up to 6-Key (4 key meaning you can hold down any 4 keys and they all register but 5th might cause the keyboard to report no key being pressed) depending on key position and some special keys (Shift-Alt-Ctrl) you can go over the listed value but its listed as the minimum you can be sure works. For writing where most multi key uses are Shift + Letter, Ctrl + S and Ctrl + P, Any membrane will do fine. For Gaming or certain IT tasks where you set up multi-key keyboard macros for some tasks you will want at least 6-key rollover or a mechanical keyboard.

However, it does come with a fairly decent wrist rest, with two different textured sides to it. Could've just used that. Also, there's about a 1000 different switches out there. Maybe linear just isn't you. Could go for some blues or so, even if the noise might be worse. There's silent as well.

Sound - many users don't care about the noise they make(plus there are so many types of switches with various levels of .. well everything). The wrist strain - easy to solve with a wrist rest. Bottoming out - again, different switches with different levels of everything. Sure, some people don't like mechanical switches, but if you really give it a proper go, there's no going back. That said, I would not reccomend anyone getting into it if they like their membrane switches, mechanical gets very expensive very quickly.

I had a corsair K95 exactly like his, and I can confidently say itis NOT worth the huge price. Keycaps started breaking 4 months in, as the slot for the switch to lock is so flimsy. Then I found Keychron, and for a fraction of the price of that corsair keyboard, I have a custom one, with hotswappable switches and the option to print my own keycaps as there are hundreds of 3d Models out there for it.

  • I think the problem you encountered with mechanical keyboards was the fact that you went straight for a specifically gaming keyboard. While appealing for some people, there are far better options by companies such as Keychron and other more enthusiast brands. The recent Blackwidow V4 75% is a really good example of a *good* gaming mechanical keyboard, and I think you should give it a try.

I still can't type nearly as fast or as accurately as I could my old Roccat ISKU or my Logitech G213. If typing were more important to me, I'd have either stuck with my G213 or gone with a Logitech Signature K650, K120 or K270.

What baffled me the most is the excuse to have lost speed using the best switches to type ease and accuracy. Downsides on this KB are the detachable pins or the wrist rest are not particularly sturdy and the size of some keys are different that most brand so you need custom keys. But he reviews mechanical kb in a whole and what he's telling me is he didn't use it enough to get used to it as you have to, coming from all these membrane and chiclet ones...
