In fact foxes do kill “just for the heck of it”. They will kill every last chicken if they get in coup, and only take one.
True. Seen it happen.
Its because they plan on coming back to take the rest naturally, its nothing personal. With the Rabbit epidemic in Australia, with all the other invasive species Fox are good. Theyre in such large numbers because the giant selection of prey with no competition. Let nature take its course, man needs to quit trying to alter everything! Nature will balance itself, if left alone in time. If you have a farm with fowl and prey type species, its VERY SIMPLE...GET A DOG..Fox hate dogs..Cats eat rodents.. Its facepalm simple. Too bad most are too stupid to figure this out..
wow..its same here in Malaysia..They do have the same attitude and habits.
Yea. He said that
It's crazy how many people think "evil" is a human concept. "Evil" as humans view it, has existed throughout nature for millions of years. There is a lot of senseless killing in nature.
My friend has a small farm and due to some random shit, her livestock guardian dog and barn cat befriended the fox. Ended up working out because now the fox doesn't touch any of the chickens and instead has been going after the mice and other rodents.
Fox knows the alternative if it doesn't abide the rules.😂
@@rustyhowe3907 L😂L
@@icosthop9998 Let's be honest, if a livestock guardian says you can take out the rodents then by golly you're going to take out the rodents and nothing else until that dog tells you otherwise.🤣
I have a difficult time believing this claim. I call BS
@@jameshatton4405 I mean sure it's improbable then again wildlife surprises me, I had a dog that was trained by some magpies to alert them when critters were going after their nests.🤣🤣
Feral cats and foxes have one thing in common, they don't like lead moving at high velocity.
Amen brother,
Yep.
Neither do Australian govt officials. The US isn't the only country that offers government jobs to their....intellectually limited....citizens.
@@kevinchristensen84 Hahahahaha! Yep. Not ONE western soldier gets issued with ammunition until battle kicks off. American Scott Ritter, last month, gave a 5 minute speach in front of 20,000 Chechens that were bristling with bullets. Their leader was standing in front of them too. Talk about absolute loyalty.
0:16 Moron holding is hand right in front of a foxes snout, and getting surprised and angry when he gets bitten.
What about guard donkeys? Wait isn't another invasive species for Australia, forget it, just forget it
Aahahah..GREAT! Just had the same thought in the scene with the sheep
there is already wild Donkeys in Western Australia.
The map of Australia shows the island state ofTasmania (underneath the mainland) as being covered with foxes. We have had one or two sneaking in through a ferry but they’ve been shot. There are no foxes in Tasmania yet, though no doubt people could smuggle them in.
Wait, Australia has a rat problem, a rabbit problem, and a now a fox problem at the same time? Nope, something ain't jibing here.
Don’t forget the cane toad problem, and camel problem
Don't forget Asian carp, Tilapia, Myna birds, wild dogs and humans
Also do not forget... .... *"Hey you Guys are GOOD, I think you named them all"* 👌
@icosthop9998 There is also the Water Buffalo, the Brown recluse spider. I'm sure there are a heap more. That's off the top of my head. I will look it up and make a comprehensive list and post it on here soon. My curiosity has been awakend.
Yes they eat each other but they also either eat everything thing else as well or eat all the food. Starving and breeding the natives into extinction. Sometimes 1-1-1 does not equal zero!
Cough cough.... Was Steve properlly introduced to that lady, before he hopped up behind her 😂😂😂😂
Australia has invasive foxes decimating live stock, endemic species, and pets. Yet, they are worried that the invasive species must be taken out in a "humane" manner? Australia will always have an invasive fox problem.
No, actually Australia has a RABBIT problem, brought there invasively. Until The rabbit issue is knocked down to a managable level youll always have nature exploding populations of animals that eat that type of prey. In time nature will balance itself out. And CATTLE are one of Australoas largest issues, not any of the above. because they need the pasture for cattle, theyre competing with the natural wildlife for grazing land. Quit growing acres of cattle, and the problem will solve itself. Actually if you keep looking up the food chain, youll see that all of the above issues are a minor drop in the bucket, PEOPLE are the worlds most #1 issue today.
@@user-iy1vo2jf2q Yes, I can agree that the rabbit problem begets the fox problem. I don't think animals should be tortured. But, at the same time, if there is an opportunity to take out a pest, it should be taken, even if it's not a clean kill.
@@bernie2231 Agreed! All those kind hearted folks are doing is helping native critters disappear by not allowing mass extermination.
Oh dear god. They already lost the Emu war! Are they really trying to lose against foxes this time?
They're gonna deploy the kangaroos knowing that they can't win a war between numbers

Your map is wrong, Tasmania hasn’t had, and doesn’t have foxes, and nor do the Bass Strait Islands.
In 2006 the Tasmanian government started the Fox Eradication Program (FEP) after fox carcasses, scat and blood were found along with over 3000 reported sightings from the public. Pestsmart has a good article on the subject.
It's like wild hogs in the southern us.

I find it fummy, most of the last 2-3 gens have no idea what your talking about. Its a simple rhyme that explains how nature works and isnt taught anymore. Its so basic!
Good morning! Hi Steve! Hope you guys have a great day! Great information! Didn't know Australia had so many invasive species problems! Thanks for sharing!
Most of them are tourists getting stuck in the middle of no where because they think Australia is small and you can travel from city to city quickly.
You must be living under a rock 😅😅😅
Our Penguins are protected on Philip island all foxes where kulled and i think they also put a ban on Cats at Philip Island they have those protection dogs ....There was even a movie made out of it and the dogs protecting out little Penguins
"The Australians thought about fences, too. But foxes are just cats in dog bodies." Is what you should have said instead of "The Australians thought about fences, too. But foxes can just jump them, climb over them, or squeeze through small holes." Edit: Good video, though.
A simple concrete ditch woth a 45 degree grade approx 8-10' deep will keep all out, plainly simple. They cant climb the grade and will go back to the otherside where they came from..Also these ditches will hold rainwater which is good! Just make drainage for the ditches with a screen, and clear out the screens after heavy rainfall.simple! Itll cost probably close to the same as fences anyways.
I've heard of farmers using donkeys to protect the farm animals
YES! Donkeys have ZERO tolerance for BS. Theyll split the skull of about everything that offends them, excellent animals. To Balance nature naturally one has to think outside the box, poisons arent the answer, the poisons work their way up the food chain and kill EVERYTHING without regard. Think smarter, and dont listen to big chemical companies trying to get rid of their chemical waste and calling it "fertilizer" and "rat/gopher poison," theyre selling you a chemical byproduct that they have to PAY FOR to properly dispose of..
I’m sorry but as a poultry keeper I absolutely hate foxes.. i know there will be comments about “they where here first” ect and I don’t agree with being cruel to them but they have caused me some of the worst heartache in my life.. my poultry are my babies 😭 and foxes ripped coops to pieces even when they were covered completely in wire….
One question, how can we make so many native species go extinct by accident, and yet can't make invasive species go extinct on purpose?
Igkslife because sometimes the natural order of things or events that happen naturally in the wild do things better than what a bunch of big headed paper pushing wasteful lazy politicians and bureaucrats can ever do. Populations of species can disappear at a slow rate, but it would still be faster than the government can get something positive passed mainly because nobody works in a timely manner , if at all in government anymore. But if they want something negative that they know the people don’t want, they can for sure get away with getting things passed very fast, most times by voting on something we won’t like, in the middle of the night. How we let them continue to get away with this crap is mind blowing.
Because they breed very well and are extremely adaptable to all environments'. The native animals have no defences against them because they havnt evolved to do so.
I live in Birmingham UK.. lots of foxes in the city here..i have a Foxy Friend.. been feeding him for 6-8 Months..He follows me now.. like walking a dog with no leash.. You keep making this mistake, alpacas are not guard animals. They are prey and are scared of everything. Their screeching might sound the alarm but they are not going to attack a fox or anything else. You must be talking about llamas which are bigger and when trained can be an effective guard animal.
Actually, they are good livestock protectors. In South Africa, there has been a 90% drop in lifestock, since alpacas was introduced as Guardians to ewes.
Yeah, but it’s for the reason above. It’s because they’re screamers and they alert everything. Llamas on the other hand are gonna mess your ass up. Do not mess with llamas.
If I’m not mistaken the Aztecs kept llamas with their alpacas to protect them. I think that’s incredibly brilliant. Also, I’ve always been terrified of llamas because my grandfather had them & the were really mean
I think its a minor enough error that it doesnt really matter. This channel isnt about expertise. Someone is interested in the topic they can look it up for more information. I dont think anyone would be mad at you if you told them this fact in a conversation and said alpacas instead of llamas . . . well except for you, but i dont really think i would want to have a conversation with you if something so minor gets you riled up.
Ppl use them for livestock guardians for the same reason ppl use mules.
Well there are over 7 million Fox’s Australia wide
And 16 BILLION rabbits, let them eat their natural prey. Put up strong wire fences around your property if you have fox issues, and get dogs to chase them off.

When it comes to feral species Australia has a heap of them with the fox but one. We have a wide range of insects, mice, rats, carp, rabbits, hares cane-toads, pigeons, sparrows, some old-world finches, ducks, geese, goats, pigs, deer, donkeys, horses, camels, water-buffalo and ? Sure the list is much longer.
Is the carcass of a poisoned fox not toxic when fed on by birds and other scavengers? 🤷🏼♀️
good question. 1080 poison does not kill quickly either, despite what the talking heads tell the public.
Yes. Even the dead carcass of a fox that ate 1080 still has enough poison to kill any animal that feeds on said carcass. Many native animals such as possums, dingoes, birds, goannas and peoples's dogs get killed when they feed the body but many Australians will deliberately lie because 1: they think it's worth it if it means the fox will get killed and 2: they don't want to admit that the battle against foxes and cats it's a losing battle. ( And apparently these tactics have not so much as dented the fox population. ) Doesn't' surprised me from a island continent that lost to a bird.
LMFAO title should be "humans: struggling to kill something off somewhere after having accidently caused a mass Extinction"
Sup dude. Liked this one too. You owe me hard now. Think its like number 7. And 7 comment's. And now im subscribed ❤️

I think its a problem for donkeys, foxes can pick on something that hates dog-shapes instinctively: it was literally rich-people making working-peoples'-lives harder with their traditions that introduced the trouble at all.

hey mate did you mean to show a map of Sydney whilst saying Melbourne

Anytime those snotty hunters in their silly costumes do anything for their 'sport', the world around them is done for.

Those Aussie foxes look a lot bigger than N American ones. Appear to have heavier jaws too; more like Coyotes...
I wonder if foxes and dingos are crossbreedable? 🤨 I mean, wolves and coyotes are and those are two rival species for resources.
@@prodigalpriestCoyotes, wolves, dingos, and dogs are all canines, whereas foxes you typically think of are vulpines and more distantly related. There are some animals that are closer related to the wolf than the red fox that are called foxes (they are in _Canini_ not _Vulpini_), but they aren't in _Canina_ like the others mentioned, and they aren't your typical foxes. The gray fox is its own thing not in _Canini_ or _Vulpini_ but still in _Caninae_ with all the others (add in some extinct groups and you get _Canidae_ which is why we can say that foxes are canids not canines). So not only are they not in the same species (like dogs and wolves) or even genus (like the others you mentioned), they aren't in the same _tribe._

“ Southern outskirts of Melbourne” and then proceeds to show a map of Sydney. A population of about 1.7 million spread out over 7.7 million square kilometres isn’t the problem this video makes it out to be
and sydney, or any of the other capitals are NOT Australia - there is a massive problem with feral animals, killing native species & destroying their habitat - cities are not a representation of the rest of the country.
The first map, talking about Melbourne is actually Sydney. I’m out.
Why show a map of Sydney when you are talking about Melbourne? That is like talking about New York but Showing pictures of San Francisco.
Are both Grey and Red foxes found in Australia
It is very rare to see a silver fox here, when they do show up its due to a colour mutation not because we have that species, we have hares that were introduced here as well but have never been a problem, and every now and then a white one shows up very rare but it happens.
I was actually unaware hares where in our southern land. Learndid something new today.
@@brettchristoffel6391hares aren't a problem like the common rabbit, due to breading cycles. Hares only breed twice a year usually. Rabbits have 5 or more litters per year, as gestation period is only 30 days.
Do dingos prey on foxes?
Amazes me the facts that are just BS, foxes are often curled up on top of the canopy of large cypress trees in the middle of the day, so they don't just climb trees to hunt.
Okay, so now that we've heard the human side of the issue, what we also need to know is: what does the fox say? (I'll show myself out)
what about dingos ?
grey foxes can climb trees , not reds .
Replace them with wolfs
Watching farmers deal with stuff is great. Just look at Europe.
All your fires exhausted their prey. Return hares and rats, which you kill to the wild and they will have food again and leave you alone
Now that I watched the video, I must ask the question. . . If foxes are such a major problem, why don't the Aussies use donkeys as guard animals? They are territorial and extremely and I mean EXTREMELY hostile towards canids. They are already in Australia, they were introduced there and they will quickly teach foxes to not come near them. When anything tries to get near donkeys and intrude into their turf, they're quite well known to remove trespassers. Most especially anything that is dog like. Really, I don't see why it would be so hard for farmers to have an additional donkey or two to protect their herds, furthermore they seem to be as expensive as trained herd dogs - if not cheaper on average! And for those who are curious. . . Do make sure to not eat before you look up how well donkey's do their job, they are ruthless, which is the only downside I can see, that it could be dangerous for strangers to visit said farms. Usually the donkeys don't go too far with people, but there's always a risk that they will. And they are hard to control, from what I can tell. But who am I to judge? I'm neither a Farmer, nor an Aussie. I don't know their specific circumstances, all I can do is give an uneducated suggestion! Edit: And if they do, then I will gladly admit that I am stupid for stating the obvious.
Some do but hooves aren't native to Australia so just their bloody feet is a problem.
Interesting to hear that! Thank you for sharing!
