    • That sequence is a classic. I believe the whole area (“the corral” was basically built for the purpose. With animals that already are integrated into human environments, this is a legitimate approach to capturing data - and ofc neat video footage. For every amazing frame you see in these, there’s literal hours of nothing. There’s “making of” information out there on that and other productions.

  • Can you imagine, like, hearing your doorbell and answering it but this bird flies into your house and steals some Cheerios instead of there being someone at the door. Then like 10 minutes later you hear your son calling for you from outside so you open the door and the same bird flies in and takes the piece of bread you were in the middle of making a sandwich with. This is the life of the meerkats.

  • I love these shows! I was absolutely bowled over by the close up camera work in practically everything I saw in this specific episode. And watching the ant queen and her colony underground was stunning! I wish they would film the camera crew doing their work and we can watch how it is all done, wouldn't that be something? I saw a bit of a footage of a lonesome camera man filming the Meerkats in the desert and how familiar they all were with him being a part of the desert, climbing/standing over him keeping an eye out for danger, while he simply lies still and doesn't interfere with their lives. Getting to know them all and it must be heartbreaking watching some of them die and knowing he could have saved it, but can't interfere.
