2022 GMC Hummer EV Review // $110,000 Powerhouse

The 2022 Hummer EV Edition 1 Pickup (~$140,000 CAD, $110,295 USD) is a massive, fully electric supertruck that has been designed to conquer any off-road terrain. It has use of up to 11,500 lb ft of torque, 1000 horsepower, and has a claimed 0-60 acceleration time of approximately 3 seconds. The Hummer EV Pickup is also packed with tech, such as GM’s Super Cruise and 800V DC fast charging - which can charge up to 129 kms of its 560 km estimated range in just 10 minutes. But how is it to drive? And besides its large size, is it compromised in any way as a road-going vehicle? Thomas and James find out! SUBSCRIBE!
Huge thank you to Andrew, Ronnie and the team at Tustin Buick GMC for letting us feature their Hummer. They are a fantastic bunch, check them out here! www.tustingmc.com/

  • Hey everyone. Quick correction on the amazing UX/Graphics interface of the Hummer screens. YES it uses Unreal Engine, but the animations and digital details themselves were not crafted by Epic Games. Everything from the instrument cluster to the center stack was designed by Perception. The same people that make wicked cool graphics for the Marvel movies. Thanks and enjoy the video!

    • @@paulettemusicqueen1282 Yes! And not just kinda.. It's the stupidest sh*t I ever seen. A car is a car. A vehicle! And thus it should not look like a minimalistic Scandinavian styled living room/Apple store, which you control with half a steering wheel and a freakin iPad, model *LARGE!!* Because, there's a reason to why cars where given similar looking dashboards during the last 80-90 years. I.e. the basics have been more or less the same as in, a more or less round steering wheel, apart from a few exceptions, physical switches, and pedals. Analog dials for the most part, that's heavily resessed into the dashboard to grant the driver the ability to read them, even in direct, strong sunlight, more or less! Center dash board console, which has lighted up switches and toggles. And dial/gages lights, which you in most cases have been able to dim, so that they don't annoy you or distract you, from keeping your eyes on the road. As well as, not lowering your night vision. WHICH a freakin big a.s.s iPod screen does, Elon MÖSK!! ESPECIALLY!! IF IT'S FREAKIN WHITE AS A SHEET OF PAPER!! Which on top of that.. GLOWS AT 800 NITS!! Or whatever.. Yes, yes.. I guess you can dim the screen. And maybe there's a dark mode/theme.. But stil. That that screen is going to f*ck up your night vision a hell of a lot more no matter what, compared to analog dials. And it makes you look away from the road to the right every time you just wanna check your speed. That's a pretty huge safety hazard just in and of itself to add to all of the above. And that you can't control anything other than on that touch screen is extremely dangerous!! Especially at low speeds in city environments. And how that could even get approved, by any western nation is just beyond my understanding.. Also.. that big screen is only really useful, and fully used, when you watch a movie or play some games on it. So why not just have a beautifully thought out improved, regular dash, with some small screens, if there's a good reason to have one or two of them. And then just a collapsible, folded-away-when-not-in-use-mount, for a iPad or Samsung pad or what have you. And then you can bring your own pad with you and mount it whenever you stop for a longer break and want to have some entertainment. That's what car manufacturers should do. No matter if they make EV's or ICE cars. Or what do you think?😄 (Sorry for the rant.. but I just hate how all tech is made round and cute, or minimalistic, just to please the female audience, as well as children, and female teenagers, if we're talking smartphones and toys. But hey, don't get me wrong. I'm not saying, that there shouldn't be any rounded, friendly or cute looking tech designed and produced. Sure! Make that as an extra option. But not.. THE ONLY OPTION!! From soon to be almost every single brand out there!! This w*ke, s*yboi, emasculation sh*t got to stop now!)

  • I work as a tech at a GMC dealership, and we got out first shipment of Hummer EVs around 2 weeks ago. I think the biggest problem with the Hummer is the fact that someone bought one, and is already trying to resell it for $300,000 on the secondary market. Once they become a reasonably available, I think they’ll be great. But unless you already got one, there’s no shot you’ll ever get one at a reasonable price.

    • This. You could EASILY break like 150mph in this thing fully unleashed, but it would become just about the most dangerous & difficult to drive vehicle possible at those kinds of speeds... Driving this thing over ≈105mph is basically suicidal behavior. The chances for a serious accident in a car THAT ridiculously huge & heavy at THOSE kinds of speeds are almost a damn guarantee, and with a car that massive is also basically a guarantee you won't be the only car involved in said accident...

You ALWAYS want to approach the parking spot from at LEAST slightly in front or behind the car so you can FAR more easily see and line up to the bumpers of the other cars parked in front & behind you. Aka the crab walk even with its turning radius limitations is absolutely PERFECT for vastly reducing the difficulty to parallel or curbside park.

      @Cooe.@Cooe.2 жыл бұрын
    • @@Cooe. That's a lot of words just to be wrong across the board. The ideal way to parallel park would indeed be a system where your wheels can go sideways because you'd just line up with the car in front and slide in. The crab walk is awful to parallel park because it doesn't turn the vehicle so it will ram the car into the corners of the parked cars. Think more, type less.

Also, the interior of the cybertruck just sucks and also the production model will most likely be quite different to the prototype model. By then, the next f150 lightning with a full ev chasis will be out and also by then rivian would have entered full production and probably introduced 4680 cells, enabling more range then the cybertruck. Also, teslas build quality just plain sucks and they won't be able to take advantage of the ev tax credit. Their fsd isn't ready yet and supercruise is still better rn. Tesla is experiencing recalls every week now and they will never break into the truck market with their wierd minecraft looking design.

      @Slayer-xi7pu@Slayer-xi7pu2 жыл бұрын
    • @@Slayer-xi7pu It's clear you don't like the Cybertruck or Tesla in general, but that doesn't mean you should straight up lie or spread bullshit. First off, Cybertruck probably will enter production very soon, Q1 2023 or earlier. Pre orders show that there are more people interested in the cybertruck than in the F150 Lightning and Rivian. Also Rivian and Ford too have massive struggles ramping production and can't even expand production because they are battery constrained. Rivian won't 4680 cells anytime soon, that would mean redesigning the entire pack, while they can't even produce the current R1T in large number, investors won't like that. And how exactly will Rivian offer more range in the R1T than the cybertruck with the same 4680 battery cells? I don't know for sure but the Cybertruck is more aerodynamic and Tesla is known for leading efficiency. Tesla build quality is only improving and we will see that with the new Model Y's coming out of Berlin and Austin. No EV tax credit doesn't matter at all, considering Tesla's production capacity is already booked full this year and will be for many years. Supercruise is shit compared to Autopilot and even FSD, even if it isn't ready, and SC is only available on pre-mapped roads. Tesla' isnt experiencing recalls every week, cut the crap. Other OEMs are experiencing way more, and way more dangerous recalls than Tesla.
