Michel Pereira became a viral internet sensation even before the UFC. Now he is captivating the fans inside the octagon. The Brazilian ninja has adapted a dance-fighting style called Capoéira, and he’s about to display his skills in the cage once again. Perfect time to recall this extravagant striker’s way to the Ultimate promotion.

  • It would be easy enough to say "he's just showing off" but I get the feeling he's actually trying to give the fans something different to look at. Good stuff, fun to watch.

    • The truth is you gotta get noticed to get fights. What better way than to win with an unorthodox fighting style? Other fighters will want to test you and fight promotors know you'll put butts in seats to show everyone something new.

Lol It just looks like a taunting antics *IF* you don't know that it's a form of martial arts practiced for centuries. The only fan-service he gave was not finishing the tubby guy so soon. It was gonna look impressive either way because of his *FIGHTING STYLE* * but the fans wanted more so he gave us more. Lol , but yeah that'd be easy. 🤨🤷🏽‍♂️

Whoever is sitting behind that keyboard customizing him must be on marijuana. Custom character! Loved that line. We love to see something new. Capoeiria was on one of my tee-shirts in the early 90s while in college because a friend's girlfriend had spent 18 months in Brazil as a child and bought it to give to me. I was waiting to see if it would make an appearance and this man has not disappointed in that like you say his timing and boxing helps him out and the crazy sometimes works.

  • The stamina on this guy is off the charts....all these high jumps and flying kicks, are explosive moves that take so much energy to pull off. And under normal circumstances, are considered an extremely inefficient way to finish someone. It's a surefire way to gas yourself out before the fight even starts! it is super counter productive!....So for him to be able to do all of that on top of the regular energy required for a multiple rounds fight, is just astounding....and he does it so effortlessly!

    @TooToo246@TooToo246 Жыл бұрын
    • That's part of what capoeira is all about. It takes a lot of effort to do, yet it looks effortless because all the movements are so soft, quick, and fluid, and all the landings are very gentle and don't make any sound. It's about learning how to move through a large range of motion with strength and control. While also learning how to master the different angles through which the human body can move through on top of that. It's really cool stuff!!

    • It seems like it can be super disruptive and disorienting to an opponent not knowing what to expect and how to defend and counter against it, then he can land that perfect KO punch when they can't guess where he is going next. However I feel like the longer this gimmick endures and the more high profile UFC fights he gets the more predictable he will become to a serious opponent, if they study his tapes they'll know when to wait and time a counter attack. He also seems to have no ground or clinch game at all, the danger is all in his strikes at range. Fun to watch though!

As long as you actually have strong fundamentals and aren't using it as a crutch, confusion can be a powerful tool. I watched a video of a guy doing a double leg takedown on his opponent, and he slammed his own head on the mat and knocked himself out and 0.1 seconds after his opponent tapped out. • @@jrmcpherson1309 It’s really not. Actually the fact that he is able to fight like this for a few rounds says he has good cardio. The reason why he gets tired at the end of fights is because every single one of his fights is fought at an insane pace and he requires a lot of energy to use his style. If he fought in a regular manner; not trying crazy shit and maximizing the pace of the fight, he would not really get tired.
