Zabit Magomedsharipov was the ultimate striking maestro on the UFC stage. With his exquisite kicking technique, exotic submissions* and unmatched charisma, he not only captured the imagination of fans around the world, but also broke their hearts by calling it quits just one step away from a title fight. It's time to look back at Zabit's epic journey through the whirlpool of martial arts and the reasons of his frustrating retirement.
These dudes are on another level. They don't fight for money they fight for survival
Indeed. It’s like being raised in the ghetto
@@YourFavoriteSociologist-pw3cmI already know you’re a whiteboy from the west. Blacks dominate you in America and you whine , now the whole world dominated you in UFC and again you whine. Just give up.
@@boognish. Not even close. Russia makes the ghetto look like day care.
@@YourFavoriteSociologist-pw3cmwhich one don't just give shitty excuse give proof

Zabit was always on my list of favorites, I just wish his health was well enough to go far like he should have
Brutal weight cut will do that to you.
That’s why you don’t cut a lot of weight
@MrShanetafoya Wasn't he like 6'1 and trying to force his body down to featherweight? I know he was tall and rangy.
Where is he? What happened to him?
@stillhere7193 he retired in 2022 due to having a life threatening surgery because his immune system was severely compromised and he was getting very ill, all because of a massive weight cut.
One of the most "what if" in ufc history, this man could be a legend like Aldo, Volk, Holloway...
Not enough cardio to do it against the higher rated guys imo
He was too big for featherweight and too small for lightweight. The cut to featherweight is what did him in.
The whole "he doesnt have cardio" thing is bullshit the dude had to be operated for spasms in his diaphragm. You know the muscles that controls your lungs? Im not a doctor but i believe it could have some effect on your cardio don't you think?
Lol they ain't legends? More like Khabib jones etc
@@user-kn1uj2tp6rman was always skinny what are you talking about?
Zabit chose a career in helping people (medicine) over a career in breaking people (UFC) 👍
Should've stayed on the UFC, medicine nowadays is garbage, the system is completely broken and it's not set out to help people.
@@user-pq3vd6oc1c more the reason to
Zabit is my favorite fighter of all time. Wish we could have seen Cardio Zabit, he woulda been double champ. Sad thinking about "what if". Insane how fast he leveled his ground game from fight 3-5. Crazy shit.
Same bro he would've been the first triple cham and greatest of all time easy
@@YourFavoriteSociologist-pw3cm Yeah man, TheWeasle did a video on what condition it was and supposedly Zabit got the surgery and fixed it. But he never came back after that, sad shit.
@@YourFavoriteSociologist-pw3cm I couldn't see Zabit or any Dagestanies doing that, maybe the Chechens
@@YourFavoriteSociologist-pw3cm Mythical Fighter: Full Health Bar Zabit
Me too but I don’t mind I hope he’s at peace and living a good life
There is absolutely ZERO doubt in my mind that Zabit would have been a UFC champion if it weren't for the health issues. Easily one of the most naturally gifted strikers that has ever graced the organization.
If my Aunt had balls she'd be my Uncle.
the guy had a terrible gas tank.
Its not about terrible gas tank, its about health issues you🤡 @@malinko35 🤡

Despite what happened one can't help but think that in an alternate universe Zabit has the cardio and is very healthy while wearing a UFC title around his waist. I wish Zabit all the best in all his endeavors, that he finds further success and thank you Zabit for your amazing fights it was a joy and a great pleasure to watch.
zabit is coming back next year btw
@greigite5191 I don't think we will ever get to see him fight again but that would be great
says who? because he said he will never fight again for personal and religious reasons...
@@William-Morey-Baker That's odd to not fight again for religious reasons but train his brother to fight
He had everything in the toolbox to be a champion. Glad hes doing well for himself and he genuinely seems happy
Maybe not cardio
cardio wasn't one of his strongest attributes
Zabit vs Yair is maybe the best fight we never got
Ilia?
@shizzle1903 u don't get it at one point the fight between zabit and yair was to happen
Yair dodged him
yair runned for 2 straight years from this gentleman@@web4044

wish him as much sucess in the medical field as he had in octagon
This was guy was my go to on UFC2 and UFC3, Zabit was unstoppable sad his career was short
he wasn't even in ufc 2 only ufc 3 and 4 and now 5
The greatest "What If" in MMA. Especially knowing that it was a health issue that was causing his cardio problems that he actually resolved through surgery... I can only dream that he's going to come back, but if he does not, I hope he makes an army of fighters as good or even better than himself.
Yeah totaly
Fr🐐
As far as I'm aware his health issue is resolved, but he decided to retire to become a doctor instead
He retired to become a doctor. He isn't making fighters. Only fixing them.
@@DoubleDOwnage He's still in his brothers corner, so he's still coaching.
Could have easily been champ. I wasn't aware of him KOing Sterling in sparring, but big ups to Sterling for even admitting that, as the majority of fighters wouldn't dare to make something like that public. Also, aside from his health and personal reasons for not continuing his MMA journey, he did make it public that he wanted to pursue a career in medicine which obviously couldn't be fulfilled if he continued fighting.
he wouldnt of have been champ, his cardio was super poor

@@greigite5191This better be real, he's so entertaining to watch.
@@greigite5191 where did u hear that from? curious as well.
He proved that for a legacy in Combat sports you no need to become the champion or no need to even have a long run Zabit comesback or not his name is placed.
That dude might be skinny but holy shit does he ever hit hard af. I can’t believe how strong he is for how small he looks! Can you imagine someone thinking they’re gonna be a “tough guy”, and start picking on this dude cause he’s skinny and doesn’t look imposing and he just absolutely rocks their shit with a head kick from seemingly outta nowhere, or a spinning back fist, again, seemingly from outta nowhere, or he just grapples their ass down into a guillotine? Man he’s good and I’m absolutely sorry to hear he is no longer fighting in the UFC. I’ve never been to a live event, but I’d pay and even travel to Las Vegas JUST to see him fight, don’t even care the opponent.
Zabit in a street fight would be amazing. His movement is so diverse, his strikes so explosive and his wrestling so fast.
His body kicks are brutal
Are you describing his SParring session with Aljo? because that is exactly what happened, Aljo even tells the story how he sparred some guy without even recognizing or knowing who it was...it just so happened to be his bad luck that person was Zabit.....AND ALJo said he had never been so Mesmerized by what he saw, He had NEVER been Hit as hard as that AND Legit was the last time he pretty much had to take a time out due to all the punishment he took from that sparring session!!
As much as i would've likef to see him fight again, i also think its cool we have this mystical guy we never saw in his prime, and we can only wonder what levels he might have achieved...
hes coming back next year btw

Most complete, elegant & efficient fighter ever! Just MMA poetry in motion! The man's seen it all, which explains his humble attitude. The manifestation of a healthy mind in a healthy body. Very special human being.

What if Yair wasn't injured?? we missed a god level fight due to that injury!!!
That wasn't injury, he dodged him two times
@@JimNuron Yh I think so first time I head about it I figured he was really injured but two times in a row? sounds like a duck, yair would have lost that match has no wrestling so zabit would have ragdolled him and was more awkward and tricky on feet so would have been hard for yair either way
Truly once in a lifetime talent.
Thank you so much for making this great video about one of my all time favourites!! He is a brilliant fighter but a great man as well. He always wanted to help people who suffered, which is why he is now a doctor
one of my favorite fighters to watch, I would compare his striking that of a video game character.
A truly unique fighter with an entertaining style! Killer video as always!
Zabit was the best Dagestan fighter to watch in my opinion. The way he mixed up the attacks was sublime. I only wish his career was longer, so we would have more highlights.
agreed, i think he is or was the best dagestani in terms of striking.
Yair Rodriguez became "champ" and he ducked Zabit so many times the UFC literally had to drop him from the organization. That pretty much tells you everything you need to know
Really enjoyed his fighting skills and he seemed like a great guy. Hope he is healthy and well
He became a doctor and opened his own offices and enjoying life via travelling
Gosh I love martial arts of all forms. Karate, jujitsu, wrestling, free style wrestling, Judo, kick boxing, Taekwondo and so so many more. 👏 are bodys are truly the art

You know what I find amazing? Not the grit these people show inside the cage but outside. These guys are fighting so much outside that is even more inspiring what they display inside. Fantastic!
watched the whole video absolutely enjoyed and loved it man if he ever returns we'll be waiting for one of the most promising fighters ever his fight style was captivating and Dana should've fought tooth and nail to keep him healthy and happy. he would've sold ppv out the wazoo as a division champ.

It's crazy how many mma "fans" (Russia or Muslim haters or Conor lovers) say Dagestan fighters can only hug... but the most creative and fun striker ever is literally from a Dagestan 😂😂😂 casuals took over the world lol
Disagree.... Michel peirera and Stephen Thompson have great striking
This comment is as ignorant and stupid and the very people it’s trying to poke fun at.
It's crazy how Dagestani fans can't just enjoy a fighter from their region without picking fights with everyone who isn't Dagestani. You guys are the ones who invite hostility. It's actually hilarious how much self awareness you all lack.
I believe Islam is a better striker than Zabit TBH Zabit is just more flashy.
