  • Moves like the tomahawk require your opponent to leave an opening for it to work, but the question mark kick is designed to create the opening for itself. Your opponent's own reaction to the initial move is what leaves them vulnerable to the actual strike. Brutal and so very effective.

    • In my opinion, it should be illegal. It could devastate your opponent and hurt them permanently. Its just a sport right? So then lets be good sports about it. Just sayin...

    • @@luism.5999 That logic would fundamentally reject MMA, Boxing and most disciplines of Martial Arts from the realm of sport altogether. Not necessarily a bad thing, but massively outside the realm of what is reasonably possible in the immediate future.

    • @@luism.5999 in the case of the tomahawk elbow, at least in the ufc, it is banned, sort of. it depends on the angle of the strike. it happened in the Hamill vs Jones fight. Jones was in Hamill's guard throwing elbows and he threw 2 or three tomahawk elbows and got DQ'ed because he was throwing them straight up and down.

    • It’s rarely worth the effort, unless you catch someone clean on the chin with their hands down it doesn’t do anything. Not nearly enough power to hurt someone through a high guard. I prefer the roundhouse kick.

  • As someone who has been practicing Taekwondo since the 80's, I can tell you that what is called the "Question Mark Kick" and the "Brazilian Kick" in this video are techniques that have been in the style for hundreds of years. Taekwondo has dozens of multi strike and fake into strike kicks. The "Sickle Kick" is called the twist kick (in English) and is another common technique, used to slip around front kick blocking. The Axe Kick (and related crescent kick) are both a standard part of Taekwondo. The "Tornado Kick" is one of over a dozen different jumping kicks in Taekwondo. Many other martial arts and MMA borrow its kicks, though rarely acknowledge doing so.

Dude in first vid who took those elbows needs to learn how to block lol. Every time he attacked, he let his guard down so asian dude took advantage of easy counters.

  • Sickle ķick is bituro chagi in TKD ..dolque chagi is the tornado kick, a TKD signature.. It's funny some years ago techniques from taekwondo or full contact styles of Karate were considered "Useless " by most MMA "experts " until some cool cats brought them to the UFC with quite success... Bravo to the bold minds of fighters that dared to do it and continue to do it...but
