A rotten Surprise at the Chateau - How to Renovate a Chateau (Without killing your partner)
Sometimes the challenges of chateau renovation just get too much for the two of us, but luckily we have a secret carpentry weapon.
A big thank you to our carpenter Friend Benoit who helped us with more then one rotten surprise in the last 2 years.

"because, I am not the type of friend to publicly shame a friend for repeated speeding" too funny!
That got me lmao
I must admit that was a very good line.
He is too funny!
😂
😆😆😆
The carpenter is such a great supporting character
Exactly! He was hilarious
"Benoit, Philipp." He knows his worth lol
@@jachrishalt Love how he call Philipp Filou!
A filmmaker and a woman with absolutly impeccable taste for interior design is quite the combination for a chateau renovation youtube channel! You can really tell that you are pros, but its still whimsical and fun, you are doing such a good job!
That's very flattering, thank you.
I agree! I love them already! Just found last week! I love to decorate and fix things myself too.I love gardening and I’ve made drapes too. My house old fashioned. I live in New York. My brother lives my parents home with beautiful garden my Dad made. He maintains their home and turned downstairs bed and breakfast. He lives a very popular area close NYC where people like to get away from city.
Philip has such a funny sense of fun and is hilarious, you press the right buttons Anna. Love your channel
Phillip's comedic timing is excellent. Love his soft voice, it's dream like.
You guys are getting really good at this comedy stuff. The place is looking good.
I hope Benoit got a ride home! That was a hilarious episode.
I was laughing thinking the same thing - Phillip throws Benoit out the door with no chariot to get him home!
@@nadinetasmania Anna will let him right back in through the side door.
@@lcg5790 YES! to the corridor - love these reno's - and these two are fun!
He's still in the cupboard... 🙈 😉
I really love your taste in mixing historic and modern decor that doesn't clash with one another. It really makes something quite special. A home should reflect the people that live in it and match their personalities, but also be inviting and timeless. You've managed to do that quite splendidly.
Thank you so much!
Philip is absolutely hysterical. I Love it.
The BEGINNING KILLED ME IN THE BEST POSSIBLE WAY
‘Our carpenter, you might wonder why I have to pick him up’ 😂 It just never gets old! 😁 🚙
Benoît is an awesome character. This is too much fun to watch!
Anna: look there's a big spider Me (an Australian) awh it's so little!
I was expecting a Huntsman size spider and this teeny little spider comes on the screen. So funny.
😯😮😯 It was very scary!
Also an Aussie, I thought the same thing! 😆😆😆
I had the same reaction. My husband is from the US, and in the first house we lived in when we came to live in Australia, he saw his first Huntsman spider.....ba ha ha....he screamed, and I automatically knew what had happened 😂
As a south african i was expecting rainspider or baboonspider sized
The censored plumber's smile... brilliant! :D
REALLY funny man !!! Makes everything more fun. Ana is an angel.
Your carpenter seems like a great guy with a good sense of humour :)
Benoit is a lovely guy. Good on him for playing the part. Phillip's sense of humour is hilarious. I was sitting here bursting out with laughter, oh my I had so much fun. Thank you and my love to you all... ❤🇦🇺
I love the absence of 'clutter' in your completed rooms - they look light and airy and elegant.
Stephanie's chateau has too much stuff in it, in my opinion. Who vacuums and dusts all that?
I'm not a regular commenter on youtube, but just have to drop in and say how lovely you both are. Phillip pretending to do all the work had me laughing aloud multiple times (especially when the carpenter appears and Phillip pushes him out of frame!). I just discovered your channel yesterday, and am already here - needless to say, I'm in love with you both and your beautiful, visually delectable chateau!
Welcome on board and thank you :)
The opening alone had me cackling up
The first 18 seconds... Philip offering 35% off his Chateau Master Carpentry Apprenticeships with 70's porn music softly playing in the background... 🐰 👌🏼 😂
Ahhhhhhh, so delightful and entertaining. Benoit is the perfect comedic sidekick. Meanwhile the job got done impeccably. Film making at it’s finest! Well done all around!
I'd like Benoit to make me a bed frame.
'Ikea Rumlund wallpanelling' 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
I can't believe Benoit still has all his fingers with that table saw...the satire is fantastic and the background music is great.
He is missing part of one index finger.
@@JoanDoris1 I noticed this, too. A sign of a dedicated craftsman 😂
This was so light hearted and interesting too. The chateau is beautifully renovated. What a talented par you are.
You guys are hilarious! I love Phillip’s accent. He could do the read-you-to-sleep thing.....🤣🤣
Most definitely. I would much rather hear him than some of those I've heard on Amazon's Audible Books. Look into that Phillip. P.S. Would love to hear you reading books to the girls. Video it, too, please. P.P.S. Are the girls learning French?
I do enjoy the humor.
Philip and Anna couple of the year .... my votes in ! Very entertaining and inspirational ❤️
Had such a laugh, the two of you have such a perfect interaction. Splendid carpenter, despite the speeding ;>p
This was fun! Phillip has a great sense of humor! So does your carpenter and I hope we will see more of him. 👍
My gosh you guys are quite the duo! Ana adds the practical point with taste and Phillip is eager to learn the trade. The teasing between the two of you are what makes this channel stand out in a charming manner. Always enjoy watching your videos.
I even enjoy watching them more than once.
I love Philipp and his sense of humour, I bet Anna could kill him sometimes though. Great entertainment, tbank you.
"For the love of carpentry..don't let him do it" l🤣🤣Love ❤ ♥ 💕 Benoit!
I love the banter between Philip and their carpenter friend
'Never ask me to put a screw in for you. I'm not qualified'.... Whooahahahahahahahahha 🤣🤣🤣🤣
"That's why we're still together my love" 😂😂
I’m hooked to your channel... love the production quality! Please keep making more videos... I def want to visit your chateau one day!
Thank you so much!! We do our best to keep them coming!
This has become one of my favorite channels!
Highly entertaining, as we've quickly come to expect, with music selections that enhance the narrative. Your rising subscription numbers are well deserved.
That reminds me -- Philipp, maybe you should wear ear plugs or a earphones to protect your hearing with some of the noisy equipment you use. We don't want you to lose any hearing. You need it for your audio work on the videos. A filmmaker with a philosophy degree, interesting. I wish some of the filmmaking students I went to school with had that background. Those guys were too much into guns and violence.
This was so hilarious, informative but lordy gave myself an asthma attack laughing so much. Thank you both for giving the gift of laughter through your videos. Your caulking the windows reminds me of helping my mom many years ago insulate, yup she told me to go have a snack after 15 mins of "work".
ok, I changed my mind. Maybe Phillip shouldn't have a room of his own to do. You guys are a joy to watch!
Ouch...these rotten surprises are so familiar for old house owners... curios to see what is yours and how you are going to deal with it :-)
Just found this series, and I have laughed and smiled so many times. They are such a lovely pair and so funny. This is a real joy to watch.
I live in a english equivalent of a chateau in Cambridgeshire although the architectural style is a bit different . as the house gets past down the family me and my parents also live there with my grand parents when we had to renovate a wing of the building that had dent been used for over 55 years we found that a leek through the slate roof caused a few beams to rot and there for we had to replace we have still got a few rooms left to do but me and my mother find it quite cool knowing these rooms will be what future generations of the family will see and see out tastes and the style of the time we kept it traditional but in the ceiling there is plaster bees Rotten beams and wood is a big problem and is common in old buildings let’s hope it’s not bad and only small amount Good luck
Thank you, till now we managed to replace and repair, fingers crossed nothing too horrible comes up!
Leeks are growing in your roof?
You should film your process for those future generations
Seems that chateaus are under the law of monument protection. When buying a chateau it is still checked by the historic monuments protection authority and the new owner has to sign a contract of properly renovating that chateau. So they occasionally send a magistrate to see whether the renovation is done by professionals and not by DIY. Otherwise, the chateau is taken back by the local municipality and the sales contract becomes null and void.
You both are comedians! I love it! Hate to tell Philip, your ability to recall numbers diminishes with every birthday.
That reminds me -- I loved Benoit's checklist written on the scrap of wood with a carpenter's pencil.
You are both great, I’m loving following your journey, Phillip has me in stitches......as for squirty foam, I call it spawn of the devil, when my husband uses it, it is just likes Phillips window, I remember one time when it was summer and he was using it outside, with no t shirt on, unfortunately it exploded and went all over him, under his arm, everywhere 😂😂😧😧😂😂 let’s say it was like the worst waxing experience ever trying to remove the foam once it had dried 😂😂😂
And, like Phillipe, would never publicly shame him? Lol. Thats actually You Tube worthy content - My Husband's Body Waxing. 😁
@@chasethecat3839 oh my, this was in the days before KZhead became so popular but yes would have made funny watching 😂😂
Love it and I’m so glad Phillip isn’t the sort of man to publicly shame a friend 🤣🤣 the new windows look great, love this couple
I've watched a lot of chateau renovations but your series is by far my favorite! You are both so funny, talented, and creative. I can't wait to see your progress and hope I can visit once I'm back in France next year.
Thank you so much!
Oh my gosh, I need a carpenter like Benoit! 😂
I love Philipp. The guy is witty. Now I think there should be another channel with that amazingly talent Benoit gentleman and Philipp.
The artistry where both have plenty of it is shining through. Your chateau is becoming a treasure and surely a joy for your guests. I hope I will be one these days.
Hysterical! Benoît rocks!
But doesn't drive ...just kidding...or not. 🚙
@@chasethecat3839 Do people hitchhike there? You have such nice, helpful neighbors -- like the guy who stopped to pull you out of the mud.
I’ve fallen in love with your carpenter! Lol
Drive with caution ...oh, I mean proceed with ⚠️
And he has a handsome son, who also has a good sense of humor. Hope he's able to keep it as a chef. Some chefs are so grouchy.
"for the respect of the trade" words of an artisan in torment
Came for the chateau, stayed for the laughs😅
This is such a great series. I just love Philips personality and sense of humor. He’s adorable.
Great angle shooting Ana, great taking apart Beno'it, so Phillip can show his part. You guy are so comical. And Ana please do not let Phillip do the hall panel.
I just love your videos! We get to watch what we like, the chateau restoration. And as an added bonus we have both of yours humour! Sometimes I’m laughing so hard I have to rewatch a whole section! Well done guys and keep it up!!
I never found a channel with this sence of humour! Je vous aime!
I think its lovely that Philip never mentions that Benoit has temporarily lost his license because of multiple speeding fines. Benoit should be so thankful to have you for his friend. 😂😂😂
I loved the humour. Phillipe is so sharp he will cut himself....just don't let him cut the antique panneling 😂💖😇
That's what I was going to say, well the first part. :)
Your sense of humour absolutely makes this channel even more amazing than it already is, I love watching, keep up the amazing work ☺️
Glad you enjoy it!
Your quality of filming is incredible 🙂♥️
Oh thank you!
@@HowToRenovateAChateau And you're humble, too, which is a definite plus.
OMGosh! Philip is hilarious! I love how he opens the vlog. 😄😁😄🤣😂😅! Anna, you never have a dull moment do you. 😂
Hysterical episode with the carpenter Benoit and the sealing “competition.”
Beautiful couple in a beautiful home. Love the humor. Filmed nicely. Philip is just precious.
When I first started watching this channel, I didn't think that Philipp would be so humorous. He seemed serious and quiet. It's nice to see them enjoying themselves and the restoration work.
Your Carpenter is a Master carpenter! Keep on his good side! Great video and God bless you all.
You 2 are so funny i love how she is the voice of reason and he is well himself haha
Miss Anna, long ago, my older sister told me the secret of her long-lived marriage, "He makes me laugh." You have a paragon in Phillip; he's very funny, he's handsome, and he's very handy around the house. He's a keeper!
That's one of the things I look for in a guy -- he has to make me laugh.
I thoroughly enjoyed Phillip and the “Wall Panel Waltz.”
So exciting to see the windows going in the new guest room. They are so beautiful! Benoit is a gas!
Brilliant, Phillip really makes me laugh, such a great sense of humour 😂😂😂💕💕
You guys are soooo much fun! Thank you for sharing with all of us in youtube land!
The secret to caulk and spray foam, is speed and flow.
The comedy duo, Philip and Benoit. Funny.
Love Philip’s sense of humor! Lol 😂
Your carpenter is such a good laugh.Philip is a comic.
the comedy is getting better and better each episode! 🤣🤣🤣🤣
You're editing is on point haha, this is really high quality stuff! Good luck with the projects, guys!
There is something soothing about watching y'alls video's. Perhaps it's the music, or the beautiful scenery but I really do enjoy them and look forward to the new ones! Keep up the good work guys!
He is such a tease! He certainly must keep you all on your toes....my Dad was like that and my Mom used to throw a wet dishcloth at him! Hilarious! You are such a great couple! Love watching you!
Loving the sitcom-esque humor!
I love the humor. The humor adds such a different vibe from all the other home renos.
Wow, Philippe's job with caulking on the window was ..... Ahem, memorable! LOL!!! The windows do look wonderful, though. Good job, gentlemen. So glad, Benoit is doing the hallway panellimg!!
I'm 90% sure that all the makeover and diy series on TV (and some on youtube) are done this way... the expert does it and the "talent" stands in as it is finished 😅
The funniest couple on KZhead 👍🏾
"Can you cut this properly or do you want me to do it?" 😅👌
Love the humour in your videos :D Such a delight to watch.
Love the humor you both bring to the vlog x
I'm sure I've never laughed so much during a youtube video! From the timing, to facial expressions, to a few "captain obvious" comments and a hint of sarcasm, all wrapped up with your obvious love for each other! Priceless! My dream is to come from Ontario and spend a couple days! Praying we can when travel is easier again!
Your sense of humor is really starting to shine!✨
Really enjoying your reels. I always get a good laugh, as well.
I love Philipp pretending to cut and remove the frame of the window! But I can see that he's also learning the trade.
Your storytelling and humour is your gift, thank you for sharing xo
This was so much fun, you two are a delight! ☺️🇦🇺❤️
I'll say it again - The dynamic between Benoit and Philip is hilarious. I love this channel!
I'm new to this series but it's so fun to see how the production quality has changed just even after 8 episodes, you can tell Philipp is really leaning in to the film making side of things
Enjoy your humor a lot! My husband says since I have been watching channels whilst preparing food, he hears regular laughs from the kitchen's side. And so more often with you two! Most chateau owners I follow on youtube do most of the renovations themselves: just to show that where there is a will, there is a way and one learn so much with trial and error! ( and also thank goodness for friends and getting information from the internet!) Can't wait to see guestroom number 4! Beautiful view!
Phillip obey your wife!!! That was so funny! The new windows are beautiful!
You two are hysterical!! Love these videos.
