  • I live in a english equivalent of a chateau in Cambridgeshire although the architectural style is a bit different . as the house gets past down the family me and my parents also live there with my grand parents when we had to renovate a wing of the building that had dent been used for over 55 years we found that a leek through the slate roof caused a few beams to rot and there for we had to replace we have still got a few rooms left to do but me and my mother find it quite cool knowing these rooms will be what future generations of the family will see and see out tastes and the style of the time we kept it traditional but in the ceiling there is plaster bees Rotten beams and wood is a big problem and is common in old buildings let’s hope it’s not bad and only small amount Good luck

    • Seems that chateaus are under the law of monument protection. When buying a chateau it is still checked by the historic monuments protection authority and the new owner has to sign a contract of properly renovating that chateau. So they occasionally send a magistrate to see whether the renovation is done by professionals and not by DIY. Otherwise, the chateau is taken back by the local municipality and the sales contract becomes null and void.

  • I'm new to this series but it's so fun to see how the production quality has changed just even after 8 episodes, you can tell Philipp is really leaning in to the film making side of things

  • Enjoy your humor a lot! My husband says since I have been watching channels whilst preparing food, he hears regular laughs from the kitchen's side. And so more often with you two! Most chateau owners I follow on youtube do most of the renovations themselves: just to show that where there is a will, there is a way and one learn so much with trial and error! ( and also thank goodness for friends and getting information from the internet!) Can't wait to see guestroom number 4! Beautiful view!
