Marvel's Spider-Man Remastered - Ray Tracing ON vs OFF Comparison
Marvel's Spider-Man Remastered Ray Tracing Comparison (featuring Ray-Traced Reflections)

Maxed out Settings, DLSS off in most scenes, some in Quality setting.
Recorced and uploaded in 1440p.
This is a native ray tracing implementation and not a reshade mod.
Even with real-time ray tracing still being in its infancy, I believe RT will become more important with current and coming generation hardware, so I created this channel with the intention of covering ray-traced games. There are plenty of channels doing mainly performance comparisons, my intention is to focus on the visual aspect and make the differences more obvious through my videos.

noticed the raytraced reflections run at half fps? or is It just me?
Appears so, yeah
@@RayTracingRevolution from what I played so far, I'm more impressed with raytraced reflections in watchdogs legion.
maybe because it would be too demanding ye
did you notice that this video are fake and that he probably use mods for game not raytrace because elswehere i dont see any difference except fps lose kzhead.info/sun/abKHmLFuhZaroZ8/bejne.html
expensive for high fps in this generation but soooo worth it
You have the best vids that show off ray tracing in games, keep up the good work! 👍
I found this channel just today, and wanna say thank you, good effort on picking good scenes to showcase RT. I approve! 👍
I were waiting for this on this channel. Other channels don't show RT in the best spots like here.
Welcome Back! I looked forward to this video. I knew you would make a video eventually.
Thanks man looking for exactly this for a day now and here you are 😀
Started playing with rtx on with dlns on quality. First really enjoyed the graphics and all the reflections. But then the game started to get choppy when I was fast swinging near heavily crowded roads and buildings and it ruined the experience. Then I turned off the ray tracing and the game been running very smoothly. From my experience I hardly even noticed the ray tracing when I was fighting crimes and swinging all around new york. Ray tracing is just not worth the heavy fps cost. Playing with RTX 3060ti i5 12th gen.
Can confirm this was my experience too and I am playing it with RTX 3060 Ti too with R5 5600.
same here playing with 3060ti and ryzen 7 3800x
@@EmpathizeVortex too bad the game is really good tho but I think I will wait for it to be fixed first before playing again
I also had the same bad experience. What do helped a bit was to disable Hyper Threading in my BIOS (helped 100%) but after some time playing (1 hour or more) it started to get choppy again. A restart in the game fixes it. It also appears that enabling Rebar in the motherboard bios also increases FPS while swinging close to the ground.
@@henriquebs12 it is finally fixed tho since they already fixed it in the latest patch. Finally after 95737272 years I can finally play it lmao
This is one of the games where ray tracing makes the most difference because of how much time the player spends facing glass.
It also looks incredibly striking at night, especially around times square. I also love how the lights and neon signs reflect off of cars, it really sticks out when you're on top of a vehicle you've been chasing and makes it feel very grounded in the surrounding world
Please post more RT videos on other games as well, i like this channel.
Wooow, very, very nice! Thank you 😊👍
Too bad about the SSR water; I was hoping that would get fixed on pc. Ghostwire Tokyo has that issue with water and also transparent glass, but besides that it’s a good RT game; the bright storefronts reflecting off rainy streets are great and I really like how it has functional convex traffic mirrors.
It was surely intentional. tradeoffs always neccesary
Fortunately for Spider-Man 2, they've also added RT reflections to large bodies of water (such as the East River)
I played with rt on at max. But the reflections seemed grainy and I believe it can still be improved to match with the subtleness the reflections offer in real life. Also the game tends to get choppy while it's enabled and so I decided to enjoy it at high settings while locking my frames to 75. The gameplay feels far better now with my GPU only having 56% of usage as I use a laptop 4060.
2:21 Okay. That's why the Reflections in the water looked so damn weird to me.
If we had the developer console (which we hardly ever do anymore in this day and age), we could crank the raytracing up to the max and remove one compromise after the other once we have better hardware...
yep pc was always the best
Just like with tessellation and later with the deferred lighting system... Slowly creeping in and becoming the norm. Gosh I can't wait for the games to fully integrate ray tracing systems like metro exodus enhanced did.
Ah, synthwave and ray tracing. One of my two favorite things together)
1:56 is pretty impressive
I'm old school and cheap (most of the time)- finally got Spiderman PC for $26 as a Black Friday special. Without ray tracing- it's still not to the point of 'oh my god I need a new graphics card'. Spiderman still somehow looks beautiful and plays well on a 1060 GTX 6GB, at 1080p. I know that ray tracing makes surfaces in the game reflect more realistical- but in real life, every single surface is imperfect with flaws, cracks and or some type of dullness or oxidation (all which obstructs reflection) anyways, and cars are typically dirty 90% of the time unless someone took the time to clean and polish. I think ray tracing is the last major addition to these cards, and is still being used as marketing ploy to continually sell new cards. Thank you for this outstanding comparison demo!
Can you do more Dying Light comparisons like Digital Foundry did? They look amazing!
Tried both ray tracing on and off and honestly I can't see a huge difference unless I'm standing still or moving very slowly.
Did you not watch the video?
@@bernaudh yes I did
@@toddc.bumgardner4396 Huh, okay then how can you not see a huge difference? The reflections are entirely different with ray tracing on.
@@bernaudh I actually agree with him. If I'm swinging through the city, I don't really notice the reflections in puddles or on the buildings/cars etc bc I'm moving so quickly. However, in indoor scenes or slow stealth scenes I notice a big difference. But the majority of the game is fast moving action, so I might actually just turn it off and just use dlss for a boost in fps
@@bernaudh and don't get me wrong, these ray tracing scenes look great. But I think ray tracing shines in slower paced, more grounded games like metro Exodus where you are slowly trudging through realistic environments
Impressive, very nice.
Sometimes objects aren’t even counted in ray tracing once I was standing on top a generator by a window and I was floating 😂
Can’t wait for the Miles Morales comparison!
how to disable Raytracing if the game does not start? When I try to start the initial app, it gives Directx 12 error. :(
RT doesn't convince me, I find it unrealistically polished mirror like. A lot of the scenes looked better with RT Off and in a game I want to play not be distracted by gimmicky gfx effects.
reflection is very good but outside of that its not worth to turn the rt on and watching it eating half of your fps
Will you do a video on the RT mod for the OG Doom?
Already uploaded, scheduled for friday :)
@@RayTracingRevolution Ah cool :D
Я не понимаю, но у меня когда я двигаю камерой то некоторые объекты и отражения оставляют следы. Что это может быть?
So sacrifice a chunk of performance for reflections?
rtx is a must have feature after that time. it makes huge difference in reality.
Для этой игры реальный отражения очень важны, ибо очень много стекла в игре =)
I was wondering why my 3060ti could only manage 50-60fps with dlss balanced. Turns out Ray tracing was maxed out. With it off I was getting 120+ fps.
Ray tracing looks too grainy and shimmery at all settings. Turning off DLSS and FSR, and driver sharpening reduces it a bit but still doesn't look good. I also have a draw distance problem at ray tracing: the park with a lot of trees has too little detail on on reflected building, so that there is only a few trees with no leaves etc. even on highest settings. Weird...
Same here! I can't seem to find any fix other than turning it off. The reflections look like moving water. Let me know if you find a fix!
@@bobwareinc facing the same issue, brother. Weird problem it is.
I have the same problem with my rtx 2060 :( do you find a fix?
Going through a heatwave rn so I've had to keep RT off to keep my pc cool, but I cant wait to turn it on again. It looks soo good! Every time I spawn outside the FEAST centre, there's just a huge glass building in front of the camera reflecting the blurriest, inaccurate cubemap I've seen in a long time. Can't wait to fix it.
This game burns my CPU much more than GPU even with RT ON
@@MrJamesonWhiskey hey how about "6800xt" with "i5 11th 11600k"? is it good enough to run this game at 60fps with ray tracing?
@@antestanic2964 I am pretty sure about that, I have 3050 and It can run at 60fps with RT on Full HD with mixed medium/high settings
@@MrJamesonWhiskey thanks, man. :)
Damn that's awesome. Wish I had the hardware to run it with Raytracing :D 1:49 was especially impressive.
I see RT to make a reflection on surfaces on which it should not be. As if running in a mirror world.
i have a gtx 1070 and it says they ray trace even though I can't select it when I play spiderman
the rtx is nice but honestly the game moves so fast and it still looks great without it.
how do you evev get ray tracint?
which one looks better remastered or miles morales?
Oh shit, games with ray tracing on looks amazing 😮, I can't wait to have PS5 (which has ray tracing feature) or RTX GPUs like RTX 4060 or RX 6600 XT 😢
Changed only reflections or me it seems?
ALGUIEN ME DICE COMO ACTIVAR EL RTX EN LA 3060
By far the best RT reflection implementation thus far, the RT reflection itself extends kilometers into the distance compared to Watch Dogs Legion wich extends to about 400 meters at the highest settings
And what about minecraft rtx?
@@sr.chi7741 Well i haven't seen how much the rtx reflection extends into the distance but that's also an overall good rtx implementation.
@@sr.chi7741 i think it goes to maximoum 24 chunks
They did a really good job here with it. SSR is an eyesore for me, and I seem to notice it more and more as time goes on
I get my gaming laptop can't handle it very well. I have a Acer Nitro 5 gaming laptop with rtx 3050 but the other components are to small to push the graphics card to its limit.
What is the performance hit with Ray tracing on?
Everything
Your eyes
playing this game in high fps rather then quality. This is the only game I will reduce my graphic setting for higher fps!! swining in high fps is so much fun and look good then low fps the ray traced
I don't know what im doing wrong. The reflections look horrible for me. They are shimmery and look glassy almost. I guess its because like the other commenter said, The Reflections move at half of the native speed, I need a stronger GPU for this I guess. It
its worse than half. its a mix. some objects move at half fps, others move at even quarter fps. kinda disappointed media sites like digital foundry never pointed this out. most raytracing games i played never do this. game is kinda overrated graphics wise
@@SwurvGG Yeah The Ray Tracing is definitely Disappointing. Its just weird it looks good on some videos but on my screen it looks like total garbage.
I am using 3060 ti. Guess what? Facing the same issue -_-
It's a game limitation, hardware can't fix it
Bro I hate that RT windows look like they have mist or blur in the corners lmao, they the worst
is it only me or the only difference is in glasses and metalic objects?
Yes- a gamer doesn't appear to be missing much of the full experience without the ray tracing.
I think ray tracing is worth it if delivers realistic well done light. On the contrary it could make the game look weird
"Ray tracing" in this game are literally just reflections on wet and glassy surfaces.
This game has the most beautiful RT I've seen, the performance get hammered though. My system struggles. We need the 4000 series ASAP
Can a generous soul make a path tracing mod for this game?
why implement a feature if its not usable? the witcher 3 this and probably other games
RT in this game is usable even on most AMD GPUs and is pretty scalable
Lot less noticable in game. I actually switched it off then eventually decided to see if what I'm missing is worth the performance drop. Nah (Rtx 306p/i7 10750
Ray tracing is very difference on graphics I knowing today it's really affected
so you need to buy teliscope as well to enjoy the ray tracying cause human eyes are not enough to see the difference i guess
i think ray traced global illumination and ambient occlusion are better than relflections.
Not very noticeable during actual gameplay so its better to play with it off for performance
You said that because your gpu can't handle... right ?
Скачал поиграть и игра затянула, без ртх выглядит красиво на средних, бывает конечно когда видишь лютое мыло в отражении либо вообще отражает здания и небо хотя напротив стекла стена и потолок, но это терпимо
R.T. its very underwhelming in this game to say the leasts , low res. reflection + noisy , guess still needs more more on the PC port for the rt implementation. I have a 3070 TI and tried RT max at 1440p. , most of the time looks worse then SSR non rt .wtf
Wow...
It's beautiful but without rt I have 90fps and with it only 12...

I have a 3080 and with everything on Very High, I am only getting 80 fps with DLSS quality. This is acceptable but I much prefer to have a smoother experience. That is why I spent so much on a 240hz monitor. I will wait for ray tracing to improve before I turn it on. Albeit the reflections look great! Can't wait till I can hit 200fps in a game like this with ray tracing on.

RT doesn't seem that great in this game because I rarely stand up still to look at the reflections of open world.
Really impressive. Unfortunatly i'm playing without RT, even with my rtx 3080. I rather get 60 to100 fps with everything maxed up and RT OFF
wtf, you should get descent fps on 3080 with enabled rt

it doesnt worth to turn on ray tracing. Too much FPS lost for little gain. without ray tracing, reflections are good enough.
idk I think the graphic looks like GTA 4 lol
That's cool but the edges not looking so great. It's so pixelated and shimmery. Is it worth on 1080p?
"It doesnt make any difference" - AMD Fanboys
Playing this with RT off at 4k high framerates is still better than forcing RT on at native resolution just to stay at 60 fps. The RT reflections look too grainy with Upscaling and indoor reflections look weird compared to just SSR imo.
Naaah. Best way to play it is on an OLED in 21:9, RT on and use DLAA instead of DLSS. I get a smooth 60fps experience 99% of the time and the picture quality is insane.
I don't like ray tracing in most of games. Everything looks like a mirror. It doesn't make game realistic. It's like mature graphics mod in gta 5. I think there should be a balance. It still requires lots of things to work on to make games really realistic.
Where the mod at
Cool update but I noticed the Ray Traving didn’t turn everyone gay or change all the white people to POC. The update just isn’t diverse enough for me so I gotta pass. Hope we get more MJ missions because “Female Power!” In Part 2.
50 to 60% less performance just for reflections?! looks like we still at beta state. Ray tracing looks really nice but for this performance cost I think it's kinda overrated. If you focus on the game and don't stare at windows every single time traditional rasterization looks fine with super smooth gameplay
Isn't that how it works for very game? Every other game so far with RT reflection ON also cuts perfomance by 50-60% How does that imply it's in beta state? By that logic: cyberpunk 2077,Watch dogs legion etc are all in beta state too
@@-BarathKumarS He is saying the state of Ray tracing in games as a whole is in beta stage, not the games themselves.
@@ghjhhkki375 Gotcha.
the performance is high in both modes if you have a half decent pc, pretty much every RTX card can do 60s.
The problem is that if buy a high end card is for the most fps to pair with my 144hz monitor, not to lock the framerate at 60 for reflections. Nvidia implement raytracing so people have the need to upgrade because any card right now can go up 60. But with rt on and dlss of it’s only 4.
Waiting for the next gen Gpu to truely run RT on Max without issues like high CPU usage. Seeing the issues of RT on higher resolution like 4K or even @ 1440p it might be better sticking to 1080p but enjoy the glorious RT on Max. Not every game requires RT but if it does this much to improve IQ then it is probably worth it.
The high cpu usage has nothing to do with the gpu like in this game, it's simply that the game is brutally demanding and heavily cpu bound so it's gonna eat up all the cores and clock very high to stream all the data while web swinging.
@@-BarathKumarS Check out the system requirements for RT for Spiderman PC and you will find that there is a jump in CPU req. than Gpu....meaning RT requires higher cores CPU not so much GPU....that is an issue that hopefully new Gpu line-up will solve.
@@007natu that has nothing to do with the gpu, RT just needs cpu, not much you can do about it.
@@hungrymidget3896 Didn't you understand why I made that comment in the first place? Because RT needs high CPU doesn't mean it will continue to....Tessellation when first launched needed CPU but now all is done through GPU so I am counting on the 4000/7000xt series to do it without over-burdening CPU.
This is not gonna get fixed. Ever. Ray-tracing is expensive on the cpu, that's the way that it works, and the only solution is the upgrade.
The ray tracing doesn't look half this good in the game guys be warned.
Ray tracing looks amazing in the game. Use DLAA instead of DLSS and be amazed at the quality.
I'm playing it on my Triple 4K monitor setup 😎👍
RT sucks in this game. No RT lighting or shadows and the RT that does exists is drawn from the CPU for some mental reason. My 3080 is literally asleep playing this game while my CPUs neck is breaking.
Its a play station port of the game which would make sense for it to be lore cpu intensive.
It's not drawn on the cpu at all. It is expensive on the cpu, but that's normal. Ray-tracing is expensive on the cpu, has always been, will always be.
this version is worse, it doesn't have the 60fps ray tracing mode. it's also a straight up lazy port.
It has 60fps and ray tracing you filthy casual.
It’s certainly beautiful, but it’s as if they put mirrors, not windows, in buildings
