Overcome Fear of the Dark
"It's 'nyctophobia'. I feel embarrassed to admit it! I'm twenty-eight. It's normally kids that have it. I manage eight people at work. I shouldn't have this phobia, but I have. Can you help me?"
Fear of the dark often, but not always, begins in childhood, and this was the case for a client of mine named 'Janet'. In this video I'll talk about where 'Janet''s fear of the dark came from and how I helped her, including 5 tips you can use to overcome a fear of the dark.

Nice. Now, how do I get rid of demons? Specifically the nocturnal dementor type stuff?
what........HOW DO YOU HAVE DEMONS!😶😰
@@billpaveglio8430 he just listens to juice word
Demons are nothing but a manifestation of the self appearing in your reality. Push more positivity and push away the darkness in your brain and bring the light into your brain and light it like a light bulb.
So what you wanna do is umm get holy water and say the holy bible then your good to go
Is it intrusive thoughts?
Thank you for this. I'm 48 and just recently realized my fear of the dark is because as a child for a 2 year period I was sexually abused and it was usually in the dark.
I tend to watch scary games... so that’s what scares me. I need to stop, but I love the videos.
Same
FOr me its not as bad as some of the people you metioned have it, but its bad enoth. I can't walk my staris up normaly for example. I alway feel like Im being watched, my flight instinkt kicks in, I feel like Im being chased, and I enter my room, run to my bed and cover myself as much as I can. Only then I calm down. And everytime Im turning of the lights to go to sleep, I feel like Im being watched from the shadows again, and I run through my room ect. Its terrible. Im never gonna live alone, Im gonna have a panic atack like 4 times a week :(
I fear the dark because im so smart of existence that I'm aware spirits could be watching
25 years of age and the phobia grown more and more irrational. Its not just around sleepy time anymore,,, during a power outage i can't even get up to use the restroom without a flashlight or a lit candle. When its evening, I can't get into any other room of my house unless that room is pre-lit. I don't go out socially a lot because of the few minutes i'll have in the dark once I get home and the fun is over. This,,, helps... Thank you... Not as deep as it would need to be to completely eradicate the phobia, but an excellent start nonetheless
The best lecture about nyctophobia on the internet, thank you sir!
I absolutely love your videos Mark. They are packed with useful information and techniques that are clever and easy to implement. I enjoy listening to these videos and I recommend it to my colleagues and students. Thank you! Best regards from a clinical psychologist from Denmark.
I'm not afraid of the dark I'm just afraid what's in the dark
Well get it into to your mind that whatever exists in the dark also exists in the light
@@EIia_M i think if i thought like that i would be always super aware of my surroundings and fearing everything and had to be around people who i trust the most.
Very helpful for therapists Mark. Thanks for sharing your knowledge
Profound. Excellent explanation and solutions
I have trouble meditating with my eyes closed because of this problem. After a couple of days I sense an oppressive darkness in my mind.
Thank you sooo much for this video, im 13 and felt that I was the only one and afraid, but this video helped me so much
A very useful video, thank you
Thank you you really helped me 😁
thanks man I’m 10 and this is really helpful
It’s really hard for me. I’ve got to the point that I need lights and an audio playing to fall asleep..
You’re not alone
This didn’t help, I’m still worried of Charles the demon grabbing my leg while I’m running down the hallway to take a piss.
I feel the same
very useful!
Thank you soo much I
The thing is i was only scared of the dark when i was very little but now its kinda back😭
I'll be going to do Paranormal investigations in my life soon, not scared of the dark as I've been in the dark for a lot of time in times. The dark just drives me crazy, not scared but just crazy.
Thanks the reason in I was afraid of the dark in the first place because I watch a a horror backstory of cartoon cat
My brother-in-law 27 and sister-in-law 23. are both scared of the dark.
I was only 3:30 into the video and i couldn't watch anymore because this just terrifies me
Don't be too scared. I am 50% scared of the dark so your not the only one. Also I am 25% scared of spiders and 25% scard of snakes.🙂🕷🐍⬛
@@billpaveglio8430 I’m even more scared
When I’m in an enclosed space like a solitary room I’m not scared at all but the living, kitchen and dining rooms are all connected in my house and it’s the first thing You see when You step out of my room what can I do about that
Try doing something that would “scare you to death” and teach yourself to relax
I'm here cause I remembered this funny thing I used to have. As a teen, I realized sexual arousal helps lol. That's when your mind is occupied with nothing else than whatever playful thought it's occupied with. I couldn't think about stupid monsters when I wanted some ugh. I grew out of it as well as my nyctophobia. I think what worked is me focusing on other things. Miss those days.. oops, nights, that was fun.
That's relatable
