The Black Phone - Official Trailer 2
In Theaters June 24
www.theblackphonemovie.com/
The phone is dead. And it’s ringing.
Director Scott Derrickson returns to his terror roots and partners again with the foremost brand in the genre, Blumhouse, with a new horror thriller.
Finney Shaw, a shy but clever 13-year-old boy, is abducted by a sadistic killer and trapped in a soundproof basement where screaming is of little use. When a disconnected phone on the wall begins to ring, Finney discovers that he can hear the voices of the killer’s previous victims. And they are dead set on making sure that what happened to them doesn’t happen to Finney.
Starring four-time Oscar® nominee Ethan Hawke in the most terrifying role of his career and introducing Mason Thames in his first ever film role, The Black Phone is produced, directed, and co-written by Scott Derrickson, the writer-director of Sinister, The Exorcism of Emily Rose and Marvel’s Doctor Strange.
The film’s screenplay is by Derrickson & C. Robert Cargill (Doctor Strange, Sinister franchise), based on the award-winning short story by Joe Hill from his New York Times bestseller 20th Century Ghosts. The film is produced by Derrickson & Cargill’s Crooked Highway and presented by Universal and Blumhouse. Jason Blum, Scott Derrickson and C. Robert Cargill are producers on the film, which is executive produced by Ryan Turek and Christopher H. Warner.

This IS scary, getting kidnapped by someone who only seasons their food with salt and pepper would be a nightmare.
😂😂👍
lol
Don’t let me get kidnapped by wypipo 😂 😂 😂

I've always loved the idea of horror stories where the supernatural element isn't the antagonist. This looks great.
This will definitely be interesting
who’s the supernatural element then i’m confused
@@kelseyclem2729 the children who were taken and murdered previously their trying to help him escape
same, this is the type of ghost stories that i would watch.
kzhead.info/sun/qbytZdmasGt-e6c/bejne.html.
This was really a coming of age story. During the first call with Bruce, “Your arm is mint, you almost had me, I’m glad it’s you”. It really tells that Finn always had it but lacks the confidence. Bruce knew he can make it. Even Robin does. Sometimes it takes the right people around you to bring the best in you. This is more of a touching story between friendships and siblings. Great film indeed. ✔️
Yeah your absolute right I loved it
Mark your comment " SPOILERS " please.
What do you expect to find on a comment section of a movie, lmao.
The child actors were amazing especially the sister but damn this film hit hard I actually cried, the moment where he was practising with the phone. Omg this was just so real so heartbreaking but so very touching
I WHOLEHEARTEDLY agree with you!! I cried too it was so chilling but it felt so like REAL!! Madeleine McGraw was AMAZING she was the heartbeat in this film.
They really gave the characters personality in the movie. I actually cared when Vinnie got out alive and finally reunited with his sister. It was cool how the children helped him escape too
@@Us3r739 I WHOLEHEARTEDLY agree with this statement. This movie felt very SERIOUS & REAL!! Because you actually cared about the characters
I hate how they made the dad beat the little girl though. Felt so bad.
@@Defffunnystuff that triggered me so bad it felt so real. The look on finny face as it was happening. My childhood/upbringing trauma resurfaced with a quickness. I actually had tears In my eyes.
I absolutely love the bad guy’s mask. The fact that he can swap the upper and bottom parts to create new looks is pure genius! 👺
Like he's the devil himself which is cool and crazy
What to know something cooler...it was made by... MAKE-UP FX LEGEND TOM SAVINI.
Hannya Mask
@@KoharuSakura it’s a Hannya Mask look it up and the meaning
@@agentc07 I looked it up it looks cool but I do have a feeling it has dark history correct me if I'm wrong my apologies 🙂🙁
Between this, Moon Knight, The Northman and now with Knives Out 2 coming soon. Ethan Hawke has been getting some good work in and I love it! He's a good actor!🙏
If I was personally charge of making this trailer, I would have kept the concept of the kids behind the phone out of the trailer. The main kid getting kidnapped by a magician with a girl getting dreams to help him is already an idea that captures attention. The kids behind the phone could have been a neat twist.
@@NETFLIXLOVING ya I guess that's a good point. I mean they probably thought that wouldn't sell the movie enough for people to go see so they made that marketing decision based off that idea. As someone who is studying marketing in college right now how you market a trailer is of course very key. You need to make sure a trailer sells someone. What I like about this one is that we got a better look at Ethan Hawke and how he's portraying his serial killer. Very important since he's the villian.
Hawke was phenomenal in Sinister, by the same director as The Black Phone. Super excited to see a new Scott Derrickson film
@@johnsamhain agreed!
And The Northman….
Went & saw this last night & absolutely loved it! It did a great job in setting a creepy tone & making you feel uneasy from start to finish. It definitely kept me on edge. It’s not a typical horror movie littered with jump scares. All of the actors did a phenomenal job especially Ethan Hawkes performance. From the atmosphere, to the acting, storyline/script, visuals, it was all great. It did a great job at making me feel like I was in that decade as well. Beautifully shot. I highly recommend this movie. Definitely worth a watch!
I grew up with white fang as my first movie saw him in
I won't pay for it I will wait cuz the one scene with the kid training and there is a ghost training with him wtf....... beyond stupid fr fr fr fr fr
@@timmmtinygr00mingchannel7 It was okay. Good villain but it was hard to take a lot of it seriously. It had some good parts and they did a good job putting everything together in the end. Ethan Hawke made the movie. The little girl did a pretty good job too.
This movie could of been great if they centered it around Ethan Hawke's character and made it a terrorizing kind of movie. Apart from a few scenes you feel to safe as the audience knowing the kid will be okay. This movie was like a horror movie made for kids. For being that I thought it was good
I've been tiredly saying to everyone for so many years that Ethan Hawke is such an underrated actor. So delighted to see him getting the attention he deserves!
he is getting more attention because when male actors in Hollywood get older they usually take a harder and more memorable performances. The pablum good guy role is less available (William Goldman/Alan King said if male actors want to stay big take on bad guy roles as they get older). He wouldn't have played a great harder role about a child rapist killer when he was 20.
Saner here! One of my favorites for many years.
The first trailer had me worried as it seemed to spoil a lot, but according to reviews, there's still a lot to be uncovered. Very excited - Ethan Hawke was great in Moon Knight and Sinister, and the premise itself is very interesting. I'm sure this film will succeed critically and commercially, though horror films aren't often the cream of the crop of the box office.
They have been recently, making up a majority of the box office last year
Horror has been the most consistent successes during the pandemic such as Halloween Kills, A Quiet Place Part II, Old and Scream.
Ya, I just came here to bitch about how tired I am of uncreative fucking trailers that completely ruin the movie! This has way too much info in it. The very first small trailer I saw of the movie intrigued the hell out of me, but I didn't love these trailers andthen I saw it was Blumhouse, who I'm not a fan of. Still looking forward to it.
@@nicolasbaron4506 conjuring 3 also
you were worried about getting spoiled by watching the trailer so you went and read some reviews? lol
“I almost let you go”…literally has no intention of letting him go🤣
Right i was like wtf bro
I wonder how did he kill all those kids :(
@@Unan1mouz me too that’s what I wanna know
it was probably to mess with him
@@tay_hilfiger197 you’ll see in the movie probably
Just saw it today! It’sAMAZING! Not overwhelming with too many jump scares but also not very predictive and boring. It had moments that made me not wanna look and when those jumpscares did come ooooh they were SPICY! And as you watch you can try to uncover the mystery with the sister it’s actually kinda great! The ending had me SHOOK! And those child actors are AMAZING! Props to everyone involved in this movie it was amazing
Without spoiling things, I'd say the Gwen character deserves a spinoff movie. It was a great movie, the performances were great, including The Grabber and Finn, but the little girl was the breakout star here.
Yea she has like psychic abilities
i feel like adding "without spoiling things" kinda did the spoiling
without spoiling much i either didn’t pay attention in the theater yesterday or the part where he says “hang up the phone now” is in a deleted scene
Thats impressive, you feel the emotion behind what he’s saying without even seeing his face. I’ll have to watch this
Ethan hawke is doing so well with big movies at the moment, first MoonKnight then The Northman Now this, he’s getting the attention he deserves again such a good actor
The attention he deserves? He always got attention before 2022 and has been nominated twice for an Oscar. Please watch more movies that aren’t blockbusters.
I never said he didn’t I’ve seen majority of his movies he’s in my top 10 actors, training day being one of my favourite movies which he was nominated for even boyhood was a great film of his and predestination, all I’m saying is that I’m liking that he’s getting bigger roles again because personally I havnt seen him in much before 2021 since like 2015 or 2016 and if he has been then I apologise.
@@sammy1552 *4 times.

Loved that movie moon knight 😂
I watched this movie two days ago at a youtube event & let me tell you the movie is awesome!
What. Howd you get so lucky?
I loved it!! It’s got that 70s/80s style vibe to it. The sister, Gwen, is my hero! She’s a badass! 👍. Without her dream premonition, I don’t think her brother Finn would ever be found alive. I felt so bad when her angry father gave her that mean can of whooping in the kitchen. All fathers need to pay attention when thier kids have “early” good or bad dreams about something, it could mean either life or death.
Ethan Hawke in a villainous role is something else, dude is intimidating
Ethan Hawke is on a roll this year! Moon Knight, Northman, this one and another movie dropping on Apple TV+ later this year.
What's the apple tv one??
@@justc215 Raymond & Ray. Ethan Hawke and Ewan McGregor star as half brothers who reunite after their father dies and the two discover that his final wish was for them to dig his grave.
I just finished watching The Black Phone, which I have wanted to see in the theater when it came out, but never got to. In my opinion, this is the best horror movie of 2022. Ethan Hawke was FANTASTIC as The Grabber. His performance is bone-chilling. Whenever he was on screen, I was on the edge of my seat. I absolutely love that the film is more thriller than in your face horror. I highly recommend this masterpiece. 10/10
The part that scared me the most is that it doesn’t go into details what he did to the boys he kidnapped but you can imagine and make it worst than what it was
When Hawke shouts “HANG UP THE PHONE..NOW!” He sounds eerily like Tom Cruise.
It's probably the mask
Omg he really does! And that's actually right when I pressed the "like" button on the video lol
Wow this is crazy , I saw the original trailer and assumed the move was coming out soon and ended up forgetting about it. This trailer just renewed my interest, not many movies make a trailer that's wayyyy better than the first one. I feel that usually it's all the same thing besides 10 extra seconds. This trailer offered more details that actually made me more interested without feeling like it ruined the movie 😱😱 so excited!!!!
I've seen this. I can honestly say it's one of the best "horror" films in quite some time. astonishingly well done and acted actually

@Zombiechris I'm not on that lane. I meant its Misdirection on their part which is good for all of us 😈
Really liking ethan hawke in the antagonistic roles recently. Dude definitely has the range for it
He had a small role in Northman but he was really terrific.
I just watched the movie and it was amazing! the actors were incredible and the storyline was very interesting, it definitely lived up to its great expectations!
Was it scary?
@@charlespotteriii2151 It's only scary when you think about how the kids died.
@@reduXstereo ah so more disturbing than actually being jump scared... that's works I guess
@@charlespotteriii2151 Maybe the first appearance of a ghost would be scary to some people but yes it's the realism of kids being captured and tortured by a stranger that is disturbing about this film.
Hell yeah Hollywood 👏👏👏👏 Thank you thank you for finally coming out with a good movie like this. 5 stars AND for letting it take place in the 70s 5 more stars, kept it old school like back in the days, when I was growing up. Excellent movie 🎬 👏👏👏👏👏 We need more movies like this. Please no cheesy ones, keep them coming. I will keep watching
I loved the movie, that mix of psychological and supernatural horror, it's out of the ordinary, the story hooks you and causes you that anxiety that something could go wrong in each Finney attempt
Ethan Hawke is the most underrated Hollywood actor ,this movie is his most suspenseful role amazing acting
Just saw this and I got to give a slow clap for Blumhouse. It had suspense, intensity, and the jump scares were placed so well that my heart nearly jumped out of my chest! 😂 8.5 out of 10.
Almost forgot about this can’t wait to see it

I will definitely see this in theaters. Best looking horror movie I’ve seen in a while Edit: Just got back from the theater. Oh my god my expectations were right.
I enjoyed this one a lot!! I avoided the trailer and didn’t read the premise until yesterday after I saw it. I’m so glad I did because the trailer gave SOO MUCH AWAY!!

2022 will be the best year of Ethan Hawke's career, not only with The Black Phone, but also with Moon Knight, The Northman, and Knives Out 2 coming soon to Netflix. Ethan Hawke has been doing an excellent job on his performances and I love it! He's one of my favorite actors, and I revere him a lot!. 🙏
Man he’s so good!! The growth is simply amazing. It’s cool to Also see him work with the same actors and team he did for “Sinister”.
I had to look up the cast in the theatre because I didn’t know that was Ethan Hawke!!! This is his best role yet, he was almost completely unrecognizable and did his part so well.
I just read the short story that this movie originated from and by the way this trailer looks they have both equally made it accurate to the Short story and created new things from said story, well done. 👍🏻
Great movie... I screamed so loud the audience died. When we left you could see all the popcorn that people dropped or had thrown during the surprising scenes. I did not expect this movie to be as good as it was.
I LOVE ETHAN HAWKE!!! HE DESERVES ALL THE ROLES HES BEEN GETTING LATELY. I ALSO WANT MORE PATRICK WILSON. 2 GOATS
One of my favorite parts about this movie was Ethan Hawkes performance. I couldn’t even tell it was him under that mask! This was a hell of a movie, very well done!
He is such an underrated actor he deserves more than just recognition for all the great movies he has done from this movie to Moon Knight even the movie Training Day.
Thanks for showing us 5/6 of the film. Much appreciated
The kid is surprisingly calm, I’d be losing my shit 24/7
I feel that way with all horror movies, they always seem too calm given the situations. I think they have to do it otherwise it would just be 2 hours of someone scared and not progressing the story.

This was only a short story???? Gosh I thought it would have been a big novel. What's the name of the book you read the story in please? If you have the author's name too that would be great. Excitedly waiting for this film
The thing I can’t believe is that this is Maya Hawkes dad, like their acting styles are so different
This film was the best horror, suspense film I have seen in quite some time. I like how they didn't give Ethan Hawke's character The Grabber any backstory so you wonder why he did what he did. I imagine he was abused by his father in the same basement and his name was Johnny because he called Finny "Johnny" when he first put Finny in the basement. The young actors in this brilliant film were the standouts. Mason Thames who plays Finney reminds of of a combination of a young Tom Holland, a young Heath Ledger and a young River Phoenix. Thames has the good looks, stoic charm and acting skills that will take him places in the future. Madeleine Mcgraw who plays Gwen reminds me of a young Angelina Jolie with her combination of grace, strength and dramatic acting skills that will take her places in the future. I wish them both much happiness and success.
