What Have We Done To The Château | Day 3
Bonjour à tous,
While is has been lovely enjoying the Christmas spirit it is time to get back to work at the cottage, next on the list is to get the waste pipes sorted, so Tracy and Tony set to work on more digging.
Also, Tracy and Ash rope Tony into making another batch of the wall aging mixture, what could go wrong the second time around 😂

About us,
We are a family from the North-East of England following our dream to restore a beautiful abandoned french Château. We discovered the heart stopping Château De Lalacelle in summer of 2020, this beautiful architectural monument Is set in the countryside of North-West France.
The moment we visited the Château we all fell in love, from the beautiful sweeping landscape and forests, to its stunning untouched interiors and magnificent spiral staircase in the turret.
Unfortunately Château De Lalacelle has been abandoned for a number of decades so will need a lot of restoration and DIY.
Please subscribe and follow our families journey, with the up’s and down’s in moving from the UK to rural France and restoring this beautiful building to its former glory.

Everyone is trying to beat the winter weather! Just watched “Not Useless Yet” - he’s redoing a portion of the tile roof on his house in Italy, by himself, in cold, wind, rain, and snow. Be thankful you have each other to help with the work load! You have made amazing progress.
One reason I continue to watch each and every video you post is because it is so endearing to see just what a hard working and loving family can accomplish. A singular goal to make a pleasing, comfortable home, tightly knits you together, which I find so very appealing. Top all that with skillful, neatly done projects, this makes you worthy of loyal followers. Huge hugs to you all! OH and I adore your singing! 😁
I am always amazed at nomatter what job Tracy is doing, whether mucky or not she is always smiling. I hope the sink bench top is fitted so you can have Christmas dinner all together in the Cottage. Well done everyone, its not easy working in the freezing cold. 💕🇦🇺
Never thought I would say this, Tony looks better without hair than he did in those earlier videos with his hair.
Haha. Thanks David I’ll tell him :)
Agree!
Agree too!!
Omg the difference to the walls... wow they look as I'd they have been there years well done...xxxx
You folks are a marvel! Yes, welcoming certainly is a pre-requisite for Pineapples Terry! You folks are "well off" in ways more than money....you have a wonderful family and that fact is a treasure in itself.
yes I agree!
Pineapple are an international sign of hospitality!
I'd heard that once, ages ago
I see that you have a roof tile that is moving (shifted) right on top of cottage roof between the windows. Always working, it’s wonderful to have Jonathan ready to help. 😁👍🏻💕
The entry walls and stone edging looks wonderful! All of you work so hard! GREAT JOB on the pipes and aging the entry walls. 😊 The PIPES are a must!!! 😮
Great job everyone! Blessings. I love the singing.
How I love Patrick! He looks so stylish in his cap and us clearly taking his title seriously!
Pineapples were a Victorian sign of hospitality, which is why you see them in so much wrought iron and plaster work in the UK.
Patrick truly believes he is the lord of the manor. Love the way he sits on that chair. Good job out of the way with the plumbing. The entrance is fantastic.
Terry, you always come up with such unique video shots of the work being done:) Kudos - again - to Tony, Tracy and Ash doing the menial, stinky small jobs yet smiling all the way!
Loved everything about this episode, including the music! My, I wish some Canadians would send y'all parkas and toques to keep you warmer. 🔥🔥🔥
What you’ve all achieved in the time you’ve been there is incredible. The entrance is so impressive, and I’ll bet your neighbours are impressed too. Being an Aussie myself, I think I’m most impressed with your ability to work in the cold (I’d be snap frozen!). Well done to you all xx
Just wanted to say, that I notice the effort that is put into the filming. camera closeups of pipes, inside the pipe, glue & saw blades, etc. LOTS of B-roll that takes time and effort to film and put together. Kudos!
Can’t wait to see how well this works! The work you’ve done on the entrance as a whole is quite the improvement.
TONY,TRACY,TERRY AND ASH WITH EACH TASK Complete it YOUS all deserve a round of applause. The changes are just beautiful. I’ve really enjoyed watching, and am amazed that theirs no job to big for any of you to tackle. WANT TO WISH ALL OF YOU,S A VERY MERRY CHRISTMAS. AND MUCH HEALTH,WEALTH,AND HAPPINESS IN THE NEW YEAR. ❤️ from port Austin MICHIGAN USA🎄🎄🎄🎄
Tony is Awesome! God Bless you all and Merry Christmas!!🎄
You all need a nice fire and a big whiskey!!!❤
You have done a lot in the last year! Congratullations!!!!
Thank you!
Well, boys the music is great. The only thing that would be better is if Terry was dancing, ah Ash dance with Him
I love the walls and posts. They look fantastic ❤ enjoyed the pineapple banter 😂
My back always get sympathetic pains watching you guys! 😊👍🏽
Haha. Think we’re getting used to it 😉
Patrick look so handsom with the hat.
Hi everyone,Tony & Tracy your amazing ,even when the weather is freezing, it doesn’t put you off getting the jobs done ! I hope this Christmas 🎄 you’ll take a few days off ,to relax & enjoy the festive season with family & friends 🎄🎅 Take care lots of love❤️🎄🎅🥂🍾🍹🍻
Bravo, my favorite chateaux and family to watch!
Put the moss in the blender with the buttermilk. It will spread easily & grow really well.
Nancy Town: Would YOU want to use the blender again after mixing that mess? I heard about drinking a green smoothie, but c’mon.
Awesome ... Ash were skint lol ... Pineapples ... Awesome xx
Looking beautiful. Curtain make the room warmer and cosy Blackpool uk England
3 of us friends gifted each other Ladyships for Christmas! Hope we’re next to Patrick 🙌🙌 from Boro but live in US 😁
It's gonna be amazing - watch, comment and subscribe 👍
It never ends, but little by little you can smile at your accomplishments and enjoy the praises of all of your fans/family...we love it all and crave the progress shots..cheers all...!
You are all amazing 👏 ❤
Mum, do you ever stop working? You are amazing! I hope you are able to take some time for yourself! God Bless! Thomas!
You are as busy as beavers as always. Johnathan is learning so much.
The very best team work ever! Love you all! That snow scene is beautiful! Thanks!!
I hope you paint the awnings over the staircases outside RED! :D I think it would look smashing! Everything needs a splash of red!
I believe you can do your pineapple, Terry. I believe you can do most anything.
Haha. Thanks Lucy!
I can’t wait to see if your moss grows! I didn’t have much success, but you guys have magic in your fingers!
You guys are amazing and so lovely xxx
Well done Briggs and Waters family! Bonne continuation!
I was walking around The Bonnet House in Florida today and they had pineapples on their gateposts and I thought of you - I took a photo but don’t think I’m able to post it here for you to see.
I think you will find molds in the uk for concrete pineapple finials. 🤞🤞🤞
there is a loose tile on the roof of the cottage 😉
We will get up in the summer and sort it. Too cold right now 😂😂
Ho Ho Ho merry everything
love you guys
Thank you Jenevie :)
Pineapples are a sign of hospitality.
OMG = Love the entrance area!! Beautiful!!
Love from Germany ❤
Thanks Karin! Love from France :)
Terry, your creative artistic photography really upgrades the job of plumbing pipes
Yucky jobs of today’s vlog. Poor Ash, you can tell, it’s just a job he cares to do! What a trooper!
Are you going to fix the outside cottage walls and repaint the cottage? Respackle the walls?
It’s likely we will in time :)
Regarding the pineapple 🍍 you mentioned....I guess you mean the pomegranate? That is the fruit which is symbolic in French applications, decorations in wood, bronze and tiles.
It's the pineapple in England and US. When they were first discovered they were so crazy expensive that they came to symbolize wealth and hospitality/generosity. They were displayed, not eaten. In fact, you could rent one for the evening!
Such a fun vlog watching you smearing that smelly stuff on the walls. It almost felt like kindergarten craft time 🤣🤣🤣But seriously I’m sure it will look amazing next spring and definitely by this time next year. Thanks for sharing 😍😘
Patrick is a copacetic Lord of the Manor!!! Excellent attitude!!! Gracious. Polite. Adorable! 🤗❤️❤️❤️🌟🌟🌟🎶🎶🎶🇨🇦🇫🇷🎅🎄❄️⛄️🎁 Stay warm and cozy!!! 🤗🤗🤗🤗🤗
Thanks Kerry-Lynn :)
Looks terrific
Perhaps keep an eye on the slipped roof tile near the middle of the rim on the cottage. Each job done is a step forward.
Great job 👏
Great job!
Buttermilk added to your concoction might help.
Great entrance . Pat on your backs Merry Christmas 🎄🎄🎄🎄
Please be sure the pipes are low so they don’t freeze. After all your hard work it would be sad. I would have mentioned this sooner but I your channel just found me. I hope this is helpful.🙏🕊
Love it.
Looking good on the walls and gates.
Turn the fireplaces on..and all the radiators…ash is going to freeze
I love adding moss. It's easy enough to do then watch it thrive. It will make the new walls look older every year. We have a similar effect here on mountain stone.
We can’t wait to update you all on it next year. Already looks amazing!
Let me see if I understand this correctly; your idea of aging the cement is to ferment it? Hmmm. Excellent idea!!! Can't wait to see how that turns out. 😂😂😂😂
It’s looking fantastic 🥰
@@chateaudelalacelle EVERYTHING looks fantastic. keep up the wonderful reclamation.
Such hard manual labour. I hope that moss recipe works for you, because it did absolutely nothing for me but dirty my blender.
❤
If you put all that stuff in a blend, you can paint it on all at once.
Thanks Lois :) we had more fun this way 😉
Can't wait to see the pineapples that is going to be quite a job
❤Patrick😂
Poor Ash, you look like you're frozen solid!
Tony,I hope you burried the water pipes in a depth of 60 centimeter. Because they will freeze in the winter.
They’re down about 2ft so should be good 😉
Do not know but have you been able to tract what part of your chateau played in WWII. Any chance your mystery places were used by the underground?
I am ready, crack on
I've often wondered why you work with such a short-handled spade (shovel). A longer handle would prove to be much more sympathetic to your back, shoulders and neck. Far less bending over.
For your “pineapples” have you thought of using a 3d printer to make a pineapple in the size/shape you want and then creating a concrete mold from that? I mean, if you’re planning to wreak it anyway this would be cheaper and easier to customize to your exact design.
I saw a catalog that had nice solar lanterns to go on top of pillars. Black, white, or bronze I think. Would add a lot of light....u guys doing that?
Pineapples? Mmmm go with lights!! 😁
You will have to see Jan :) Terry has his plans :)
@@ashleywaters7198 😂
arent you worried about those pipes freezing?
Jonathan with his Allez France's tuque. I'm wondering who cheered for who during the match France-England in the château?
scotchette: You mean who was cheering for each team when they weren’t filming!! But again, if it was like Waterloo, the British won!!😊
🎄🌟👏👍🍀💐
Can't wait to see that wall next year! I must have missed the pineapple explanation, was that a thing 100 yrs ago? lol
Thanks Cynthia :) it’s Terrys fascination with all things titanic!
@@ashleywaters7198 Just hope he keeps his head above water and keeps afloat. He and the family are so successful and hard working that they should find a better example of ingenuity and lack of ego to follow. AND USE REAL PINEAPPLES!! Aloha!!
Do you guys have a room under the cottage? What is that alcove where Tony is working? Interesting
Nope no room under :) that was just a trench to the rear of the cottage :)
👋👍❤️
Looks absolutely freezing there watching Ash's teeth rattling, even donald duck seems to be warming his privates!!!
Phil Morris: You leave Donald Duck and his privates alone unless you want to warm them!!
@@johnpickford4222😂😂😂😂
Where you able to restore the hard drive?
Not yet :(
But all current content is backed up to the cloud now, right?
Isn’t it easier with a roller ?
No we wanted to get into all the hard to reach areas :)
Ash, check out Scott Shafer channel. His channel is about scammers. I saw his post 2 weeks ago saying Established Titles is a scam company. Research it for yourself to decide. Just letting you know.
I just posted a pretty long comment on this, unfortunately on yesterday’s Disneyland post. At the very least Established Titles is dishonest in stating that calling yourself a Laird if you own a tiny piece of land, accords with Scottish law. The Scottish body responsible for titles has clearly stated this is not true. A Laird must own a large historic property. The title Lord can only be acquired by inheritance, gift of the King, or purchase for $squillions. I think Ash should look into it carefully before he continues promoting it. There are quite a few sources casting doubt on these schemes.
Marsha Warhol: Notice that the title belongs to a canine. Just saying . . .
When you did a fly over the cottage roof there was a slipped tile just below the ridge, Incase you didn't notice it.
Hello dear people. What I miss in your videos is warmth. And i do not mean from the stove! The fun of eating and drinking together with family and friends is like non-existing in your world. Maybe it’s only a french thing, but I miss that here. Enjoying is also a part of life not only working and dragging around. Thanks anyway. 🌺❣️🌺
Mum and Dad are starting to look a bit tired.
@10:07, did I see someone smoking? Hmmmm.... 🤷♂
🤍🤍

I love your channel and your chateau! But I have to mute the music every time because the beats cause me seizures. I do not have that experience on any of the other chateau channels I watch. Makes me sad because I have mentioned my condition many times. I am disabled from a brain injury and heavy beats are not only painful to me, they cause myoclonic seizures. I love you all so much and your chateau! My husband and I want to come some time. Blessings to you all and Merry Christmas.
Just do t understand what’s wrong with new walls? Why you dirtying them up?
They are artificially aging them by applying these mixtures and moss so the new walls are a better match to the older walls.
Colour of the gates with the tacky "gold" looks awful. Walls looks good.
Thank you Norman 😂
Advise against the pineapples... so ostentatious. Still. whatever you like I guess
Haha. He loves them. We shall see…
@@ashleywaters7198 Tell him No! lol
