Worked 2 years 4 months on the Ohio we never grounded never took on water! We were always on watch when we were working! Lights at night in the wheelhouse were shut down RED lights only you could see better! Quite an experience, glad I did that!!
I used to do that COULDN'T swim a lick! In the 80s it was 30 days on 30 days off! Ate damn good I would say! Took a lot of TRAINING especially tying knots! I could already cook good so that helped a lot plus I got to run the ship more and more! Had to leave though got a better job more pay removing asbestos for the Army got to travel to SAUDI Arabia and BELGIUM! Finally settled in the STATES ! Did asbestos removal in the Gulf removing off the pipes could see the sharks in the water about 80 ft. Below! Ate even better there! Still never learned to swim!
My father passed away right there somewhere on Nov 3, 1991... he was a towboat captain and had a heart attack in the wheelhouse, the only reports I have is that he was at Cape Girardeau, not exactly sure where
My last trip was in 87 on the City of St. Louis grew up in Rosedale Mississippi on the River, my step-dad was a commercial fisherman, hell of a life
Wow you had a very day at the river. Nice catch with the snake trying to have lunch on the fish.
what an interesting slice of life! the mural looks cool but I think you've done the mural on your earlier uploads. the snake caught the fish but the plucky fish lived to swim another day. you should excerpt the snake/fish bit and put that up as an upload.
EXCELLENT !! THANX
Do you ever go by tiptonville tennessee
I am wondering what is the "speed" of the river? 3 knots? 5 maybe?
Kidd fuels how did yall come up with that name ,or is that the name of business. Just curious
Cool video! I was just reading a post that says ACBL is hiring for 28/28 rotation. I was curious what are they paying deckhands?
LOL, sounded like those cables on the skiff crane needed some serious attention.
