Those big ten fives are monster boats . Especially when driving something that dwarfs an aircraft carrier on a twisting winding river with tricky currents bridges and changing waterlevels. Computerized radar and river charts are great. When I was there in the 70s and 80s the radar was in its own cabinet and had a round screen, and the charts were a big foldout book.

M/V Dan McMillan was originally the Jason owned by Union Mechling. I remember when it first came out as the first of the triple screw 10-5’s from Dravo…..awesome, jaw dropping towboat in 1974 - ‘75 along with sister vessel Argonaut (now the Andrew Cargill). I’ve got original Dravo promotional corporate photos and Union Mechling brochure featuring both vessels.

Bridge , I love it so much I built a to 40+ foot tall Lighthouse, if you guys find yourself up that way some day "Shine Me" all the local pilots do haha I get a kick out of it, the Ohio River is about a mile wide there and me being a gulf coast boy made it the closest thing to being home, hope to see y'all up my way some day thanks again for the video

Are those MAN the same size? or is the center screw larger than the outboard power? What does she have for gensets? Have they considered installing the forward scanning transducesr? Seems like a good candidate for that being 1600ft and slow to respond. How big are the wheels on this beast and shaft diameters?
