  • 1,200 feet out in front of you. My goodness and you simply swing out of your parking place and in to the traffic lane. This all amazing to me. Thanks for sharing.

I wish I could spend the summers out there it's beautiful. It's like a different world on the river. Thankyou

    • Credit to the regular captain of that vessel, Capt Mike, Chief Dennis, mate Raymond, and crew. They have really done some work this past year on that ole girl. It’s always a pleasure to ride the Stone 👍🏻

  • I watch from uk so we don’t have long barges like you do in the states ,when you were swinging off the bank do you have one engine in forward and one in reverse?

  • Captain Kyle, a completely newb question, but have you ever or heard of anyone running 1 screw forward and 1 reverse to turn/pivot course? I would think if someone did that it the cavitation would be pretty bad.

    • With big boat and big tow, it would just do more shaking than turning.

  • My thoughts wonder to where the rest of the crew are. Chilling in the galley having a Scooby snack? Noticing they are getting under way. Captain above by himself. Bring him a sandwich maybe? ;-)

    • That’s a very subjective question, and is a matter of perspective. It is very big and very swift, most places, most the year. There are some exceptions.

    @josebenedito6369@josebenedito6369 Жыл бұрын
    • That is debatable subject. 🤔. There are at least ten vessels that could be considered largest class “Lower Mississippi” boats… until the Lewis Strait us complete. 😉👍🏻

  • Still don't think we got anything electric that can manhandle 1,200ft of steel off a riverbank like that. You'd have to have drive motors on every barge. They'd probably have to run diesel generators to keep the batteries charged.🤦‍♂️

    • @@joeb134 It's actually humor. You know the thing that's died over the past 5 years or so. People used to do this thing called joking where they would poke fun at a subject. People back then wasn't so up tight that they thought you was serious about absolutely everything. It's a joke, I'm not so anti electric that I apply it to everything. Omg laugh a little it's good for ya.
