It is interesting to see how you are dealing with the low water conditions.

Great video Captain. Pucker factor check for sure. Awesome how all the boats assist each other on the river.

I fish on the Ohio just South of Henderson Ky. Barges are stacked against the shore here.

StL had an almost 2 foot rise, up to about -1.5. Dropping back to -3.5.

THANX, CAPT. HOW DEEP ARE THE BOW DEPTH SOUNDERS, APPROXIMATELY AS LOW AS THE BOTTOM HULL OF THE BARGE ?
@kingtut83816 ай бұрын
No more than 1 ft. Preferred about 6 in.

They just have to be below surface. They are flighty angled away from barge. Not angled that it affects accuracy, just away from barge a bit. Pretty simple deal

You experienced the "squat effect" which actually increases a vessel's draft (your words were sucks us down) when operating in shallow water. Cutting your speed in half reduces the squat effect by a factor of 4.

Very aware of this. 👍🏻 Don’t know where “factor of 4” number comes from. 🤷🏼♂️

When’s the last time you’ve seen a barge stuck?
@aaronsmith13657 ай бұрын
See them about every time the river falls kinda fast and tugs don’t get fleets pulled. Kinda regular type deal for minor groundings with fleet barges, as they are usually leaned against bank.
