Brilliant little video and great soundtrack. Loved it.
I love the sound of those engines.
Now that takes me back to the early 60s when I joined a Prince line ship as a raw deck cadet.
Really nice video and very enjoyable.
Certainly looks different than when l sailed up and down with T&J Harrison Line in the early 1970's
Great and thoroughly enjoyed the film
Thanks Mike great video, have done the ship canal around ten years ago when the breach at Anderton happened, to get back on the Bridgewater, loved it but we had to breast up for the whole of the trip!
Haha 2:35 dog is running his little bollocks off and yet going nowhere!
A great video, thanks for sharing
Did the MSC trip some years ago on Snowdrop, totally fascinating experience !!
Brilliant. I did tthe same trip aboard the Mersey Ferry "Egremont" in 1961.
Great video!!! I love the style and editing of your filming - it captures the atmosphere and makes me feel like I am actually "on board" your boat!!! I appreciate the fact that you kept the original sound throughout (no music necessary), and you didn't add a boring commentary, because the video was just naturally great as it is. National TV companies should use your technique when making documentaries, but instead they foolishly add corny music and stick an irritating presenter up front who talks too much.
thanks mike brilliant vid, looks fun :)
Amazing. Thanks
Wonderful.
Wonderfull Wonderfull Wonderfull
that engine is a sweet heart beating at 5'20 looks like arklow crew used the same paint as the hull 😁
Passing into the Boat Museum basin the old brick lighthouse on the right is now the Northwest Regional Office of the Fire Brigades Union.
Hows your new prop doing? Do you feel a great differance?
How come the leeds and liverpool short boat passes Victoria?
¿.Es esto un trabajo ? Es muy interesante,me gustaría conocer esto de más cerca ,debe ser un trabajo muy antiguo .
how deep is that water where ship is
Конечно надо. Пусть будет это видео
Is there a charge to use a lock??? Drinking a beer, cruising about in boats, looks great. Away from roads, look at that stinking traffic on that bridge.
There is a charge to go from one part of the canal to another for pleasure boats which cover lock costs. Commercial boats presumably pay tonnage rates for miles and for each lock.
I really liked the young womans jumper. It is really hard to find dresses for simply knocking about, and not for dress up.
...down the Manchester Ship Canal. So does that mean Salford to Liverpool then is going up the Manchester Ship canal?
havingalook2 Salford were we start is higher than the Mersey, and we are heading down stream so yes, down the Ship Canal.
Have done the Ship Canal twice. Now turns around at Latchford Locks 🔒 🙄
Completely missed out going through Irlam locks between Barton locks and Partington Basin.
😁👍👏👏👏
Are there any fish in that ship canal?
Ive seen porpoises in there
Yes there are now. The canal water is considerably cleaner now than seven years ago when this was made. The ship canal is fed by the River Jewell and The River Mersey. During this Summer's hot spell Irlam locks was full of floating fish killed by the lack of oxygen due to the heat.
Salford trout. Easy to catch and mash
Love the sound of that engine, is it a Bolinder?
The one in Spey is = mine is a JP2.
did anyone see the pusher well you was on your way by hahahl ol
NO LIFE JACKETS....
If you dont know boating these are the type that never smile never wave and go to fast, like they are going somewhere, which their not, because they are doctors and accounts that have never done a actual manual job. Its all a big show, and we all know it.
None of the people on these boats are Doctor's or accountants. Spey is run by a large group of owner shareholders who all maintain the boat themselves and most are mechanics and engineers or musicians! Watch my video of them docking Spey in one or my other videos or when Tom Kitchen too it to Salford to the Folk Awards.
@@mykaskin so apart from the jobs they do, i was right, and I did say type. You lot do have the rep of looking down your noses, not the diesel boats, but the ones moving nothing but tanks water. Big show about nothing
@@dennisthedog4015 You mentioned not doing a manual job - so I was coving that observation. As to going too fast - I think you'll find that they like to get a move on without messing about, some people (me included) like to go boating, not floating. As to never waving - I find that hard to believe, I always wave to boaters and people enjoying the boats on the towpath. I'm pretty sure these guys do too. They put a lot of work into making and keeping the boats looking good and appreciate anyone enjoying the boats as they do.
@@mykaskin its all pretending.
That's a rather presumptuous of you, and not a very nice comment since you don't know any of the people in this video.
Great and thoroughly enjoyed the film
