  • Here's a little bit of personal history on The 3rd iteration of Mississippi. My grandfather, Captain Moore L. Mckinnie was for a number of years the Captain of that particular vessel. He was the captain that retired that particular boat. Not only was it the last of that line being a steamboat, but the last steamboat to ever work the Mississippi River. The steam engine and wheel are now on display in the river museum on mud island in Memphis and anyone to pass through by way of the river can't miss it as it has a huge window that also displays it facing the river. The steamboat changed the entire face of our nation and with steam locomotive opened up the entire country to commerce with the world without being subject to control from east coast port towns. I can't imagine how proud he had to have been to retire a vessel that represented all of that.

  • Liked it, but it would have been better to get a tour of the Air Conditioned Tennis Courts and Go-Cart track on board.

  • I worked for Vickers Towing out of Greenville Ms back in 90 and 92. We was working for the Corp Of Engineers doing bank reconstruction along side of the Mississippi. I was second Engineers on the Whippoorwill. The Mississippi made us look like a pero.

  • Could have done without the music, would have preferred listening to the sounds of the area. (do not worry, you're not the only putting music where it don't belong) .

  • At 20 :40 the hand handling the shore line sure knew how to do that. My Dad a Ol Seaman taught me that years ago. Hold the bundle in one and lay the line in the other hand. And pull lightly and twist the line as you hand it to the other lind.😀

    • OMG. Holy moly, it worked. Yep, I know exactly where you mean. Well, of course. I'm the one who put it there. Lol. I only put it in one spot. I found some chalk and wrote my channel's name on the concrete walkway, between the two flood gates. That was like two days ago or something. I noticed that it was still there this morning. Very cool. Thank you for replying to my message on the pavement. Welcome to my channel. Thanks for watching and have a very nice day.

    • I filmed this amazing towboat a little over 2 weeks ago. I'll be uploading a departure video today or tomorrow. She headed south. I managed to film her from the bridge, passing under the bridge. Just like with "AMERICAN HARMONY". I'll try and give you a notice ahead of time, so you can catch it. Thanks Bowzer. Take care.

  • It's called the first amendment, use it or lose it. Don't let no security guard or bum with a badge tell you that you need permission to film IN PUBLIC ON PUBLIC PROPERTY.

  • The lady you talked to towards the end of the video told you you couldn't film people without consent. I don't know about Missouri law however, most states have a one party consent law. Meaning that other person doesn't have to give you permission to film.

    • @@TheMrdavidlangley Filming and taking pictures in public is legal in every US state. As long as you are on public property you can film, without consent, whatever you can see. It's called the first amendment, freedom of the press

    • Yep total B.S. There is no expectation of privacy in public. If you are standing where you are allowed to be if your eyes can see it you can film it When you take pictures of your kids soccer game to you ask permission from every parent? When you go to Disneyworld do you ask everyone's permission in the background when you take pictures of your kids ? Stupid lady.
