@@jjpswfc Actually, timer starts on world load for RSG, for other categories however, like SSG, timer starts on first input. The reason why wp is legalized is because it is a resetting mod and does not affect the gameplay segment of the run, since having early knowledge about the seed during world load doesn't give any advantages, it just improves reset efficiency, especially for single instance runners.
It makes sense why this run was rejected but none of what was presented suggests that this run was cheated.

Yes, I wouldn't assume either legitimacy or cheating. It's like a verdict of Not Guilty; it doesn't mean you're innocent, it means the prosecution didn't meet its burden of proof. Which I think is more probable is irrelevant when that's not the standard.

i think that the reset mod was atum,worldpreview or fast reset,and all of them are in the allowed mods section in the speedrunning discord,so i dont think that's an illegal mod,but great gob on the vid anyways

cool ig, but a few corrections 1. to my knowledge there is no evidence that the 10:04, or 11:59 was cheated. In a comment chain he said that the 10:04 was rejected due to multimc questions and a lack of skill 2. World Preview is allowed

Ok no that Buff thing is like the sketchiest thing i've ever saw as a sponsor. If its not a crypto miner or key logger, then what is the product? How does the company make money? If its profitable for every user then the company has to be losing money. The only way a business model like that works is if the product has a secondary feature. Think Twitter being technically free but selling your data. So my advice is dont download the shady app which claims it will make you money. It's probably got a few shadowy purposes you wont like.

Buff makes their money from ads and paid subscriptions. This KZheadr didn’t talk about that, while most other KZheadrs who have Buff as their sponsor will mention it.
"profitable for every user" And here is the catch - it simply isn't. They probably make money by showing their users ads. Apps like these usually have high minimum cashout. So high that 90% of the userbase will give up before reaching it, leaving their "earned" money in the hands of Buff. The profits from those 90% people are more than worth paying the remaining 10%.

This just makes me impressed by the Minecraft Speedrunning Leaderboards Mod Team. I don't think there's any other game where such rigorous and detailed checks are required to verify runs, even for world records. No doubt because of all the issues in the past with cheated runs. They're doing this all on a volunteer basis, it's incredible dedication to keeping the leaderboards fair and runners in check.
Minecraft must be the easiest game to cheat. Thanks to very good mod support the game itself is almost open source. I started learning Minecraft modding about 6 month ago, and I can see how easy someone can cheat. For example you can force game to generate specific seed like it was random seed, or slightly adjust drop rates. We caught dream because he was streaming all day long and people were able to grab statistics from multiple runs. But you can make mod to adjust drop rate only in specific run. You may spend some time thinking how to make cheat not to leave any logs, but this is not very hard task.

his first run (14:XX) wasn’t verified because there was a miscommunication between arturz and the mod team so he never submitted his world files and that’s why it wasn’t verified. his second run (10:XX) wasn’t verified because the mods determined it was faked.
There's a huge difference between rejected and faked you shouldn't throw hate at someone just for 'lack of evidence' and mostly preceding runs

it could easily still be legit but it seems a bit sketchy to me that he just knew that lava pit was there under a single block update of sand, plus the portal being right next to a bastion like yeah its all entirely possible but theres something just a bit off about it
1. He heard lava and confirmed that in subtitles 2. The spawn is actually quite inconvenient, could've spawned near the gold chalice. But there's actually a lot more to this run and its illegality than said in the video. I myself participated in this btrl event and other participants were feeling quite sus about this wr and asked him to provide the proof, which he kinda failed and was changing and manipulating some facts. We concluded that something's 100% something concealed behind the run.

I laughed at the line about the 54 second end split being insanely fast (which it is don't get me wrong). Dylqn's 9:45 would like a word. One thing you didn't mention was that despite this run being completed during a mostly-love BTRL style event, Arturz himself was not live, even on a discord. He just rolled up with the run.

I mean, it seems pretty reasonable. You dont get a WR on your first attempt, you will need to run for a bit and along with that you will improve your PB. If someone isnt willing to show any of that progression outside of two runs that are known to be cheated then that puts their run in a new light.

Minecraft speedrunning is a joke to me anyway. A stronghold locator bot? Not recording time spent in the menus? I'm done with this
time spent in the menus is recorded
1. Its not a stronghold locator, its a stronghold calculator. By throwing two eyes of ender you could calculate it yourself by simple triangulation, thats exactly what the bot does. I prefer the categories where bots and calculators are banned, too. 2. To count the time spent in the menus would be total nonsense, to count it would mean to test, which runner has the better PC, not which runner is the better runner. On a slow PC the menus take longer, especially the Nether loading screen.
Time spent in menus is only unrecorded if it's under 5 seconds, this is to make it so people with slower computers don't have a disadvantage when they need to load a new dimension or change their render distance due to lag.
I don't think it's fake, the only reason it was reject is due to suspicion of his past. Like you said there is no glaring flaw in the run yet, so imo it's legal for the time being.
Said each reason doesn't prove it's fake and then immediately turns around and concludes the whole thing was 100% cheated because [mumbles].

Can someone explain why the mod is illegal for me? I find it pretty stupid how a mod that doesn’t affect gameplay in any way is illegal, where things like multi-instancing are. To me it just seems like the lb mods dislike people with worse hardware.
I'm not sure but I think because it gives you time to think and plan your moves while who doesn't have strong computer cannot do multy-instances.. There were runs where the player would pause the game to look around and that gave him time to think and plan the next step - and it became a hot argument if this should be allowed at all because it is abusing the rules (or not). There is two time for the runs for a reason: the whole time where your pauses, downloading and everything is counted. And the retime when only the gameplay counts. One reason of this because there are players with weaker setups, slower computers, it might take more time for them to load into the nether etc etc, and the other reason for the longer (all achievement) runs where we should allow the player to take a piss in the 3-4-6-8+ hour long game..

There is proof that he wasn't running vanilla Minecraft and he admitted to that. He also claimed to be unaware that the mods were active. Intitially I believed Dream's first video about it. But more and more evidence came out against him. He also admitted to cheating in school in an unrelated interview, so take that into consideration.

I think if there was any cheating going on, it was with loot rate. For a 50% drop rate, he got really lucky with the rods, not to mention having the tnt and iron in the treasure chest as other examples. A lot of his dice rolls were really in his favor, so I wouldnt be shocked if foul play happening happened with those numbers
Nah, the mod comments about the log files strongly suggest that he repeatedly played the same seed until he got the result he wanted. The practical result is the same as if the rates were altered directly. The other stuff you mention really isn't suspicious in and of itself. Mapless buried treasure is the dominant overworld strat right now, and that's exactly because it usually gives you enough iron and food to complete a run, plus TNT as a bonus. You will see comparable nether enters several times a day from any top runner. Really great blaze rod rates are a bit less common, but these guys play a lot. Watch Crookst or Catjam or Reignex or whoever else play for a week and you'll see it happen a few times.

This issue with this is that with every world record you are almost bound to have a lot of lucky things happen. So it's not too suspicious on it's own.
On top of what BlueCyann said any tampering with the loot rate wouldn't apply to the treasure chest because the chest and it's contents would be determined by the seed and would've been immediately discovered by anyone who loaded up the world.
Chests aren't randomized. So you can verify that. If it was a spliced set seed, that should leave evidence but it's not guaranteed.
I don't like what minecraft speedruns have become. There is more of abusing debug menus and external tools than of the gameplay. I think there should be a category where external tools, mods and F3 are all banned.

If he has a history of cheating then I can not trust any run from him, cheaters practice a lot but more so on better ways to cheat and how to hide the cheating rather then trying to get it legit.
How do you know that? Are you a cheater? What makes you think cheaters can't get better. I agree that this run shouldn't be verified, but I'm not going to assume that a runner who I've known about for quite a while cheated a rum
@@racsoboom8570 How do i know that? I have dealt with liars and cheaters all my life, they are scum. Am I a cheater? No I am not, nor do I do anything that I could cheat in. What makes me think cheaters cant get better? They took the time to cheat and lied about it, why would I trust someone like that not to do it again? They lost all my faith in them. You have known this person for awhile as stated in your message, maybe stop and think hey is my opinion on this matter bias? They have a history of cheating and then released a run that is really suspicious, makes me think he just got better at cheating like many of them do.

It happens a lot tbh. In all honestly I always say just ban cheaters from leader board to resolve stuff like this so you don't just reject the runs later.
As I said on a previous video: this was *too* perfect. Everything worked out. He got really good piglin trades without *really* having to wait. Spawned almost inside the Bastion. Got a Nether Fortress easily, with 86% rod drops. Individually, this isn't cause for concern, but being he's had a history...yeah.

I don't think you can even go by that stuff. Fast nether enter, close bastion, fast trades, close-enough fortress, fast blaze split (whether by means of high rates, large number of spawns or both), close blind or easy double travel, quick nav, quick perch. That's eight things that can go right or wrong in a run and you already need to have at least 7/8 to be anywhere close. So I trust the mods' understandably less-than-detailed suggestion that the log files looked Not Right over most details you're going to find in a run itself.

funny he has below average hardware and I have the same rig, but the 2009 version (not even kidding it's a Dell Optiplex 9010 AIO, look it up (I upgraded the RAM to 12 GB))
I see no reason to give the benefit of the doubt if he's both cheated repeatedly in the past and fails to follow the rules. Sure, technically it's possible this was legitimate, but at some point you just gotta admit that it's not possible to prove every single faked run IS fake, so you have to employ some more wide-net methods that *could* snag a legitimate run, but likely won't, such as "This guy cheats all the damn time, what's the actual chance he booted up the game and got the new WR in a few tries, legitimately? Very low? OK, fuck it." Much preferable to a faked run staying up forever as the WR just because nobody was able to conclusively show it despite kinda figuring it's gotta be fake.
It's better to let ten guilty men go than falsely prosecute an innocent.
@@curtisevans8413 In general, this is true, but we're not dealing with like, the justice system here. We're dealing with leaderboards for a video game, and a person with a track record for cheating to get on top of it submitting a sus entry.
personally i believe that the mods are right to reject this run cuz even if this run is real (which likely isn't true considering it's a sus run) they didn't follow the rules and if he was doing it legit he should have quickly uploaded the files it doesn't take that long to go into ur world folder upload it into google drive or other file sharing website copy the link paste it in a google forum and press the submit button

Before even watching, it doesn’t matter if the run was real or fake if he used an disallowed mod. If you’re gonna participate in a competition, you HAVE TO follow the rules that everyone else also has to follow. That alone was enough grounds to take the run down imo

I’m not going to lie, I hate the sentiment that someone needs prior runs to be accepted on the leaderboards. It’s 100% just gatekeeping, and I’ve seen clean runs get rejected just because they weren’t a highly established runner.

"It’s 100% just gatekeeping" i mean, not really. If you are getting a sub-17 run then you will have to completed previous attempts to get anywhere near that. A decent run doesnt just come out of no-where, you need to start off with slower times and improve, so any runner submitting a WR run will always have some history. The only reason they wouldnt is because they are either cheating or because they are too lazy to document their previous attempts. So aside from gatekeeping people who dont want to follow simple rules and provide sufficient evidence the rules dont stop anyone.
@@morbideddie there are also people who don't know how to submit runs or only do runs for personal improvement rather than submitting them for a wr so if they do somehow get a wr ofc they aren't going to have a past of submitting because they didn't care about that stuff so never bothered to submit
@@enzolos. It's not just a past of submitting runs, they just need to have some evidence that they have attempted the runs legitimately in the past. You just need to not delete the past few world files and records. Recording evidence is a part of speedrunning. If you aren't willing to engage with that then your runs wont be accepted. The runner is making a claim while not providing adequate evidence. And that's fine, not every runner wants to submit to the boards, but then they have to accept that their runs will not be verified due to a lack of proof.
