  • These new ants are stunning, and I could watch the general action in your vivarium for hours. I don’t know how you ever get yourself pulled away from the drama to handle everyday tasks. I have to admit to having a soft spot for Thor and His kin, so I’m glad he is keeping the antelopes under control for you. Thanks again for sharing your wonders with us. 🖤🇨🇦

    • Nordic Ants they are awesome to see, by far the biggest ants in the garden and I always watch them scout around the rocks looking for food. I also really like the carpenter ants but those don't come out alot.. They frequently change their colony location and often don't show themselves for weeks before suddenly running on the floor again. I'm hoping to get big red weaver ants in one of my tree's, i love those guys. I've build my garden using only natural rock and mostly native plants in the hopes of attracting all sorts of animals and to grow our own food. We've seen some awesome wildlife since i started building the garden.

    • TemperantRaydude i already have mantises! Bees and wasps is a bit hard to achieve xD the others may be possible, will consider it!

      @nordicants6232@nordicants62326 жыл бұрын
    • A lot of those animals don't fit very very into the environment or are very problematic to keep. There isn't enough water for a turtle or crawfish. Bees and wasps are dangerous to keep because of their ability to fly making it difficult to observe. The rest can sustainable survive in low numbers. Though you have to be extremely careful with toads, they eat everything.

    • Nordic Ants Though it is very rare to see them nowadays due to any available, non-toxic humid gardens or area with heavy vegetation in our area. Habitat loss takes away even the little things we know and love. However, these snails are hardy despite their soft shells that can break easily, they can be seen hanging vertically on moist, old brick layers filled with mosses, algae or anything that can be humid. They can also live and breed in big flower pots and hide in the most heavily covered area and then come out at night where it is less hot and more humid, eating dead and rotting matter.

      @thegallus--3556@thegallus--35566 жыл бұрын
    • Nordic Ants But apparently your snails are living an even richer and more productive life. Lots of baby snails and despite the threat of flatworms, still managed to not be quickly reduced in numbers. Wow lol, your biggest, bravest snails can just come in take out chunks of meat and move away unscathed. They are the big, bad “megafauna" of your terrarium like a giant ground sloth, or just a gigantic docile bear lol. But, I think you should keep an eye on them and the flatworms too, *even though your snails have evolved a strategy to feed and roam in times where the flatworms are unable to come out and hunt*, you do not want to deal with a disgusting hammerhead worm infestation that can eat everything in your vivarium and I mean a lot of invertebrate creatures.
