Tahuya Breaks Me!! Sasquatch Still Defeated...

In this one I start the day with several FJ Cruisers and a Jeep, then I break my steering again... But that didn't end the day, and I was able to defeat one of Tahuya's largest obstacles before the day was over. And I believe my steering problems are finally resolved...

  • Ahhh yes. March, the times of Tahyua soup. I have so many memories and hours logged at that place on a dirt bike. Great job! That place breaks many a vehicle.

  • I had a friend brake his high steer arms off his knuckle. Turns out he needed to adjust the stops on his ram as it was turning too far one way. Not sure if this is in any way helpful, but might be something to double check if the issue continues. The PNW is pretty. Thanks for sharing.

  • Good thing most Toyotas never leave the off road park. It makes them easier to recover when they break.

  • I grew up in Belfair and lived on Wooten Lake a few miles away from Tahuya trails. Even before they were actually trails lol. I might have made some of those trails. We are talking almost 30 years ago those trails got ate up buy 44 inch tires lol. I used to run dad's sandrail through them too. Dirt bikes and I had a big Toyota truck like I do now. I'll be going there this summer after I get my Dana 70 in the rear of my 93 4 Runner. I haven't been on those trails for 20 years I think. I'll tell my Land Cruiser buds about your channel.

  • Wish I was there. Looks like you’re having a ton of fun. I’m gonna suggest you have a design failure with your knuckle having busted twice. It looks welded top and bottom. You’d gain a whole bunch (like several times) if you could box it in. Vertical welds to the knuckle w plate connecting top and bottom steering brackets.

    @kevinshaber8742@kevinshaber87422 жыл бұрын
    • It's a popular design. I think the first time was from my initial welding being insufficient. The second time was because the trail welder was insufficient for a permanent fix.

  • Make sure you’re heating the knuckle up when you weld the high steer arms on. The cast knuckle doesn’t take well to the weld if it’s not hot beforehand. You can put them on the grill or in an oven

    @noahbaru@noahbaru2 жыл бұрын

  • I'm running solid brand knuckles on my dana 60 with their keyed high steer arms maybe you should look into something like that if you have more problems but I think you might be fine with a good hot weld now from a normal machine hopefully.

    • @@offroadhub.official it seems like that's a pretty popular setup that your currently running. I'm not super familiar with welding but maybe if it breaks again maybe you should seek out someone and have it done with a stick welder? I have a 220 stick welder but I hate the damn thing im not talented enough so I stick to my mig machine, but I know with stick welding and the proper rod and heat you can make extremely strong welds on very thick material. Your using your rig for the purpose you built it too, a lot of people don't use theirs to the extent that they could everyone's situation is different. I'd say if there's another breakage and you want to stay with your current setup you should seek out someone with a stick welder who's knowledgeable. Maybe someone can chime in about tig but I've always understood stick or arc as it's formally called is the strongest type of welding and you get the best penetration on thick material. Maybe even when you get home look into it as a preventative measure? It's really cool to see you wheeling in my area I hope next time I'll have my jeep done so we can meet up you seem like a very nice person to be around.

  • Curious about your straps.... looks like you strap to the frame etc as the truck is bouncing around the straps loosen and tighten, i realize you have closed hooks so they cant come off, but you should definitely being strapping down from the axles and tire strap nets...
