I'm Alive! Muddin And Snow Wheelin!!

In this video I demonstrate the hazards of driving through mud with only tube doors installed on my FJ Cruiser. Add some cold temperatures to the mix and you really don't want to try it! Then I take you snow wheeling and conduct several recoveries.

  • So great to see a new video and to know things are well with the Offroad Hub fam! Buy an extra set of hinges for the tube doors, remove the hinge pins and use a 5/16 pin as the hinge for the stock and tube doors. 2 minute door swap. 😉👍

  • I could see it coming! Minimalist tube doors, cool factor BUT... very impractical on cold and muddy days. Should had put the doors back on it. Probably would have had a great time without having to cut the trip short AND, wouldn't had crapped the whole interior. 😂

  • Wow, I would have asked for a divorce after a trip like that. :) I'd customize the tube doors with a detachable plexiglas panel for situations like this: when there is rain, mud, etc. It's transparent, lightweight, can be cut/molded/bent in the shape you need. It won't stop all the rain and wind, but the interiors and the passengers will be dry and clean. It could be fixed in several ways, even welding to the door tubes 4-5 slots for bolts or screws. You would have the visibility, the shelter and a durable material. Just saying, but in this way you can still go out with bad conditions.

  • Try to make an acrylic skin for the doors. You have a very good looking snow plow! Good job pulling the Jeep, that's what Toyotas are made for, hahaha just kidding. Ken if I may ask a question, not counting your FJ, what is your dream rig if money is not an object?

    @gregorygene9003@gregorygene9003 Жыл бұрын
    • I've thought about door skin options. I don't think I have one dream rig. I would like a collection of purpose built vehicles, of money weren't a concern. A buggy, an overland camp vehicle, a trophy truck, etc... 😄

    @forreststrong797@forreststrong797 Жыл бұрын
    • The only big difference is that there is almost no return to center. Other than that, it feels the same as normal steering. I also run very little caster, more caster might help it a little return to center.

    • Thanks! I'm running a Dana 60 up front and a Sterling 10.5 in the rear, with 42" interco irocks.

      @offroadhub.official@offroadhub.official Жыл бұрын
    • @@offroadhub.official I don’t think I’m ever going to see 42’s. Always pondered an SAS on the 4Runner… but not likely. Plans are to potentially go RCLTHD up front “one day”. But since I’m set up for touring I need to strengthen my rear axle from the stock 8”. I’m on 4.88’s with an air locker but unfortunately I was a dummy and didn’t think to go bigger before I did that. It’s a toss between a Dana 60 or a Diamond 9.5 in the rear atm so I figured I’d see what you had going on. Thanks brother. 🙏 I do wish your shop was closer to me here in NM but one day maybe when back in Idaho… So happy you got that going. Was thinking about opening up something similar here down south. 🤙
