  • I FIND that Lisa's reviews are the best on the Internet for tech, especially laptops. "X" marks the spot to point my browser, which is the MobileTechReview link.

  • I almost went with the Alienware M15 R2 since I have use their desktops. But, I couldn't pass up this laptop. When I built it on HPs website it was around 2800 bucks. I came across it at a local electronics store for just under 1500.00. I snatched it up and love it!

  • Love the videos. When will you review the Microsoft new devices? SP7 and X, etc.?

    • Around the release date. X and the 15" laptop will come first since there are bigger changes there vs the SP7.

  • Hi. sorry as I don't know where to find an answer for this: I know the omen x 2s 2nd screen allows shoeing of a snippet of the screen, but will it allow keeping fixed on the object rather than the specific part of the screen? scenario: I am flying an airplane and the mini screen stays fixed on an instrument even as I look left and right of the cockpit in my main screen (sorry is that even remotely possible?)

  • Besides that it's shifted forward, you didn't really talk about HOW the keyboard is, whether it's comfortable or not. I saw quite a bit of flex in the keyboard even when you were just typing on a single key. Yikes. Otherwise, awesome review, as always! Hilarious shirt!

  • Aren't the liquid metal cooling compounds best for people that like to get into their hardware now and again? From what I see on videos where they use the liquid metals is that they should be RR'd every couple of years. Is that true, or is that just some people being overly conservative about it?

    • Hard to say since there isn't a huge amount of long term data yet. But many traditional thermal pastes dry and need replacing after a few years anyhow (granted, they're easier to remove though). IC Diamond lasts a good long time, and it's my go to when I re-paste my own laptops.

  • I have the Omen 15t with the i9 and 2080MQ. Supposedly with stock paste and it runs cool. HP have ot configured so that the CPU doesn't pull a crazy amount of watts. Initially when I got it would pull about 70w and hold 4Ghz, they updated the Comnand Center and now you are looking at 35 to 45w . I use Throttlestop to lock in 4 Ghz with a -138mv undervolt and I render my videos with all 8 cores at 4 Ghz and it doesnt go above 74 Deg C even on auto fan. I saw the two screen model in Microcenter and I must admit the screen was small and I could not see much use for it. My 15t is cheaper and runs cool too. Great review Lisa !

    • @@mobiletechreview yes, I was one of the first people to buy one and I was stoked to see it averaging 86w in my handbrake encode and beating my 8700k. Breaking the 4000 point mark in CB R20, then the update came. Others reported the same but it was a good thing really , it was averaging 93 degrees in that handbrake run with max fans. Just too many watts. So they adjusted the PL1 and PL2 values. They do put the backs on tightly. I managed to get in OK. Suction cup helps 👍

  • very aggressive choice on liquid metal, so far, every 1 year+ review of liquid metal ( mostly PC ) ate up some of the heatsink contact surface - ok-ish on PCs with standardized heatsinks. So here's hoping it doesn't become a premature trend ( until we see more evidence of good long term stability of liquid metal )

  • Would love to see a professional and robust looking laptop from hp that can game. But they just keep on making the same plasticky looking childish omen. Super iffy hinges as usual. Even the razer is still too out there to be actually clean and unobtrusive looking. I don't know anyone who actually likes gaming laptop designs, other than when they are going through some rebellious phase, and then they regret it straight after.

  • Thank you Asus for opening the market to a whole new era finally. After all the wanna bies are done goofing around we will see what the industry settles on as standards acceptable across builds. I'm voting for full size zero bezel dual 15" touchscreens with no tactile keys at all. Ill use a wireless keyboard if I want touch feedback.
