  • If that’s the car I think it is, it’s without doubt one of the craziest sleepers in the world. It was in hot rod magazine like 10 years ago, with all kinds of slick shit. The cage was built to sit as close to the roof and pillars as possible to stay out of view, rear seat was retained to hide the mini tub, carpet hiding the fact that the front and rear subframes were tied together, and the LS2 under the hood has twin Rotrex superchargers with the air to water intercoolers tucked in each fender, along with a dual fuel setup; one cell/pumps/injector set for regular 93, and a completely separate set of cell/pumps/injectors filled with CAM2 race fuel. This thing is nuts and put down 1100 at the time. Favorite nova ever.

    • @@spraym88 thanks man. I drooled over this car when I was a kid. I’m not a muscle guy, but a build like this is too unique not to be respected. Dude even has harnesses setup on the factory bench seat, there was so much thought and imagination that went into keeping this car’s true identity a secret. The ONLY giveaway from the outside is the tires.

  • I went to school with a guy whose father bought him a brand new Nova SS while still in High School. That left my friend all of his spending money to up grade the carburetor, the headers, the exhaust, the tires and just about everything else that could make that car run like the wind. Sadly the mechanic who did most of the work, had a family and owned his own garage was killed taking the car out for a "test run". It also destroyed the car.

    • @dan b I can still remember the names of most of those parts. Holly four barrel carburetor, Hooker headers, Cherry Bomb mufflers, some kind of ice bucket system for cold intake air, Kreager Chrome wheels, Gabriel shocks and a Pioneer 8 track stereo with Jensen speakers. A whole lot of money spent on a brand new car, just waiting to kill someone...and it did.

Mine looks and sounds like a hot rod though with a tubbed rear end with big meats and loud big cam exhaust. This Nova is just a riot though and probably a daily driver to boot.

  • That's funny. I smoked a Nova like that while stationed at Bliss in the mid 80's. My 73' Challenger I had, now THAT was a "sleeper". Stock hood, stock rims, black vinyl top, anti-dent trim down the side. Looked like grandma's Challenger. Hi-Po 340 4bbl under the hood, 4:10 gears w/the factory slapshifter. Would damn near pull the front end off the ground at the hit and lift it every time you shifted. Totally humiliated a brand new IROC that pulled up next to me pointing & laughing at a stoplight. He wasn't laughing when the light turned green, but I was. LOL!

  • I can't wait to see my dad's running, he bought it in the 90's when he was high school and a few years after he graduated there was some bad wiring so the engine caught fire which luckily he was in his driveway so he got it out fast, but it's been on Jack stands for the last 20 years since he decided to fix all the other issues (the back left quarter had a THICK lair of bondo on it according to him so he cut it off a welded a new one on same with the trunk) and now it's a matter of money to build an engine, get new brake stuff, and plenty more body work.
