  • I love Saffiulin's play. Smart, precise, composed, less flashy but very clever and strategic. Somehow he didn't get broken. Shelton gonna have to develop something else than a physical boom boom battle if he wants to go higher. He has amazing power and stamina but i'm not sure he really follows game plans or don't get too attracted by flashy shots more than efficient ones.

    • Very good resume, wich I totally agree with. Shelton has still a long way to go for the breakthrough many analysts have predicted for him , plus he needs to develop a serve that is more accurate and various than only megakicks and flat bombs in the middle. More crafty and also more progressive in the motion since he snatches it way too much so it's hard to be really solid under pressure (see the two bleeding double faults he did). Not last to keep his body (back, shoulder) in good health as long as possble.

  • I like how how Murray has a tennis voice over little gasp for "I'm surprised", a grunt for the normal shots, and a series of small grunts for "I'm hustlin' to get the ball, I truly am". For most players i'd find this unsportsmanlike but he makes it almost as fun as a watching a cartoon character.

Still running around the court like a golden retriever, huffing and puffing, like he's a spring chicken...instead of opting for a higher risk attacking tennis. • He plays too much like a pusher and less attacking. It use to work when he had a hip but he's stuck to the same playstyle post-op and expecting similar results. Needs to play more like Djokovic, make the opponent run around work angles with the forehand then maybe he will have an easier time preserving his energy and winning more points. Play more high risk tennis. Djokovic obliterated everyone with devastating forehands at AO last year on one leg., then again he is Djokovic.

  • The problem for Murray is that he does not have one shot that is powerful enough to consistently rely on in long rallies. In his prime he was able to sustain with physicality, but he's way past that now. Still great from the baseline, but can't do this for matches in a row and this explains why he remains competitive, but never goes far in the tournaments anymore. I mean if you look at Djokovic and Nadal, they also rely on rallies, but they have the attacking arsenal as well.

    • @@jacobschmidt2709 Shelton reached QF at Australian open and SF at US open (only losing to Novak) on his FIRST season on the pro tour. If you do a side by side season stats comparison he is equivalent to Rune and superior on services games and shot speed. In fact Shelton has the fastest shots of any of the top 50 players, serve included, 10kmh faster than Carlos. He is a monster physically and his movement is improved compared to last year. I predict that like Carlos he will explode on his second season on the pro tour and become a top 10. Last year he was just lacking experience against the best but he is a quick study. He had the biggest ranking jump in 2023 and I don't see him stopping outside of the top 10.

  • I honestly don’t think Murray is far off from his peak form despite his hip injury….i just think the field has gotten stronger and his game doesn't have enough firepower to beat the best consistently.

    • No mate, I'm sorry but I disagree, have you seen Murray play when he was okay? You can clearly see his movement is totally altered, he had to rebuild his entire game, he's a great player still, better than most players that will touch a racket, but he is very far from what he was unfortunately. :(

    • @@duohere3981nonsense the field is much stronger now than in 2016, people hit harder and move better and serve better. The best ever Murray would struggle to win even a masters against today's top ten, he's too much of a pusher to have success against players who defend just as well as him but have far more offensive capabilities

  • Last year's Grigor does not win this match. I love them both, in the twilight of their careers. Were it not for Andy I probably would not have known the benefits of doing hip resurfacing instead of the whole shebang, thank you Andy Murray I'm 5 weeks in now and enjoyed the documentary on it!

    • In my country, they don't do hip resurfacing surgery any more, because of the metal parts that can end up in your blood stream.
