There is so much hype these days for everything. Only 3 GOATS exist as far as mens tennis is concerned Roger, Rafael and Novak and that’s it. To match them someone needs to be born or someone who’s still less than 5 yrs old already going at it with a tennis raquet

  • The crowds there are bias. I understand Alcaraz will always be a favorite in any tournaments, but the crowds were so unfair during Alcaraz's matches. They are almost one sided towards Alcaraz. Especially during Alcaraz - Struff match. They almost did not cheer at all when Struff won points. It would be nice if they could be a little nicer and cheer where it is due. Good to see him improving on clay too :) he just needs to work on his explosiveness/pace a little as he still looks incredibly vulnerable to drop-shots, but aside from that everything else is looking solid a hell!

  • This was a showcase of Alcaraz's biggest weakness -- an impatience that causes him to go for low-percentage plays too early. @2:22 an off-balance drop-shot going entirely against his body's momentum; @2:48 an insane top-spin forehand trying to paint the side-line against his body's momentum; @5:40, this half-hearted rush to the net when staying at the baseline would have set him up for a power forehand. Opponents with a powerful counter-punch (most notably Sinner, but in this case Rublev) just wait for his bad decision and capitalize on it, then press advantage when he loses his confidence in those crazy shots. On the contrary, his patience in the rally at @4:49, lulling Rublev into a backhand rally before opting for the inside-out drop-shot, shows excellent poise. Alc, statistically, does so well in long rallies -- especially in clutch points, he has to develop that patience.

  • Congratulations to Rublev and Fritz! Nonetheless, I think that actual tennis is becoming a survival game. Every tennis player is undergoing physical exhaustion and deterioration, and dominance is dictated more than ever by avoiding injuries. The finalists of the week lose the following weeks in the first rounds. For this reason, I think that was somehow to be expected the Rublev's victory against Carlitos after Rublev being disastrous for one month, that Tsitsipas and Ruud compete for two titles and then get eliminated by second-line players in Madrid, that Sinner gets crippled by injuries and Félix Auger-Aliassime reaches the semifinal after numerous losses, etc.

  • I will say, although Taylor Fritz’s draw isn’t exactly insanely high in quality, aside from the in form cerundelo, he has been hitting the ball very good this tournament. Maybe he is returning to his form? Or at the very least, making the necessary steps to improve again.

  • Fritz will be American n. 1 for a long time, he has passion unlike his main rival, Shelton.

  • Alcaraz seems not completely recovered from his right arm injury and has an evident lack of self-confidence. This is a problem against an aggressive top ten player like Rublev, who is a very good player when controls his wrath. But Alcaraz has true class and an incredible set of skills and soon will be winning trophies.

  • Quite impressive by Fritz. Do they even have clay courts in the US?

  • Alcaraz tends to lose when he gets into a power battle, it happened against Sinner before. He needs to use his variety instead. Which is a real challenge when you're getting those fast balls, but he can do it

  • Serreno is just a kind of a head case of me come on. He’s hitting a backhand rally and then decides to go to Fritz’s forehand. Keep it to his back hand you know surrender he’s the clay he should’ve won this match.

  • Sometimes Alcaraz hits a lot of soft balls. This time Rublev kept him on the defensive with hard, deep balls.
