The five major world religions - John Bellaimey
Explore the intertwined histories and cultures of the major religions: Hinduism, Judaism, Buddhism, Christianity and Islam.
--
It's perfectly human to grapple with questions, like 'Where do we come from?' and 'How do I live a life of meaning?' These existential questions are central to the five major world religions -- and that's not all that connects these faiths. John Bellaimey explains the intertwined histories and cultures of Hinduism, Judaism, Buddhism, Christianity and Islam.

Hinduism: We are one. Judaism: Even the most simple things can have a great impact on our lives. Christianity: We must all show love to one another, as God has shown love to all of us. Buddhism: We can find happiness if we don't let it come at the cost of others. Islam: Always strive to go the extra mile in being a better person.

So many Christians forget that sentence. They'll judge each other based on their sins and how non Christians live their lives. This video claims Lord Krishna to be the starting point of Hinduism / _Sanatana Dharma_ , which is totally *incorrect* In fact, he is the 2nd last of the _Dashavataras_ ( 10 avatars ) of Vishnu, with his departure marking the end of Kali Yuga. The prior avatars, very much part of _Sanatana Dharma_ , came much before in Satya, Treta and Dvapara Yugas. This is the problem with Western historians/theologians ... they look at everything from the Western _monotheistic_ lens 🙄
I'm not religious but their are 4 thing I've learnt about religion 1. They all teach basically the same thing, they just go about it differently 2. Anyone can interpret any passage, of any religion to what they choose to believe. 3. Your beliefs are just as strange to someone of another religion, as their religion is to you. 4. Don't go to someone else house of worship, with your own book in hand.
I may be biased, but Christianity is somewhat unique, in the sense that it teaches faith over works. It doesn't matter how many bad deeds or good deeds you commit, because what makes you a better person is whether or not you can admit that you're a sinner who is in need of forgiveness
I'm afraid you'll need to do a lot more research my friend. The world religions do not all teach basically the same thing. For example, if you compare Islam with Buddhism you will see that they are extremely different in what they teach.

God is holy and therefore inevitably always absolutely RIGHTEOUS! So God can never be merciful, gracious, because grace is not justice and therefore is wrong! A holy God can only be holy if he NEVER does wrong !! So FACT is without Jesus his SACRIFICE out of love for us we would all be lost! Only YHWH is not lying when he says he is HOLY and MERCIFUL !! Who is YHWH equal? EXACTLY NO ONE !! JESUS gave himself as a sin offering !! A PURE LIFE FOR A LIFE !! Because we have to be holy = without guilt otherwise God will judge us FAIR and RIGHT !! Jesus is YHWH and thus the Creator of EVERYTHING and thus has the weight to wash the whole creation clean with these pure lives (BLOOD) !! God bless you

Allah - there is no deity except Him, the Ever-Living, the Sustainer of [all] existence. Neither drowsiness overtakes Him nor sleep. I like to say I'm agnostic but videos like this make me more religious every day. Very informative thank you!
I'm not a Buddhist but I like this quote of the Buddha which he told to a clan of common people called the Kalamas ," Don’t blindly believe what I say. Don’t believe me because others convince you of my words. Don’t believe anything you see, read, or hear from others, whether of authority, religious teachers or texts.” Buddha's words were quite unique and seem logical to me. I like the philosophy of the Bhagavad Gita ( Hinduism) as well. I find these two philosophies profound and practical; no angels, no superstition; it's all about mental-discipline and doing whatever your work is based on your profession which does good to the society and to yourself. Can be appreciated from atheistic point of view as well.
Yes! Having a real life practice is more crucial than blindly beliving in stories out there!
This is why I also gravitate towards Buddhism as well. I was originally born a Muslim but I’m atheist now. I love how there is no god in Buddhism. Buddha is the optimal person and anyone can become a Buddha. That’s powerful.
Yeah I'm a Hindu and an atheist too!
Justin Bora that's the opposite of Christianity where their god makes people do his will without question.
If you apply that argument from Buddha, Buddhism itself fails. Like all religions at the end of the day it is faith based. No one can prove karama or life after death or rebirth.

@@celinamilian okidoki. Then let me be the guy telling stories of lands and places far away. For example an earth completely peaceful. The core of the big religions on this planet is, you name it, LOVE. All the other things are added by people wanting power. Love, Enlightment and Peace
@@celinamilian May I ask you a question? Do you believe to be the bible the word of God?- Which version then? 😋
Because actually they all believe in the same God, at least for Christianity, Judaism and Islam. They believe in the same Message, the major prophets, and they depend on each other. For example Christianity; which is the follower religion of Judaism, believes in the Old Testament which refers to Jews, but Jews don't believe in the New testament as well as in Quran. Following Christianity, Islam came to believe in the message, Holy books, and the majority of prophets of Judaism as well as Christianity, while it also believes that the Torah and Bible were corrupted by human editing through time, and the Quran was revealed to correct those contradictions and misconceptions and to be the final preserved holy book for the whole human being. While Christianity does not believe in Islam as the following religion. The main difference between Muslims and Christians is that christians believe in Jesus as a Son of God/God, while Muslims believe that Jesus is a Messenger of God who has no father. Actually Arianism; which was one of the popular doctrines of christianity had a lot of similarities to Islam, and it is said that it was the correct faith of christianity at that time.

Actually, a correction. Hinduism didn't actually start with lord Krishna, he was one of the incarnation of lord Vishnu, who is the the maintainer of the universe..these lessons of life were taught by every deity a hindu worships, lord krishna just compiled it for Arjuna during mahabharat. Infact it was after mahabharat that the kalyug or the modern age started.
