  • To everyone saying "England deserved to beat South Africa as they were better on the day". lets take a few things into consideration shall we? South Africa, after playing 7 weeks of high intensity rugby, facing the giants of NZ, Tonga, Scotland, Ireland and France, faced an English team who had the mildest of run ups to these semis, who played arguably their best rugby this year against as seemingly tired Springbok team, who played at 55% of their full capacity and still managed to come out tops on pure grit and determination. It speaks more about the Sringboks as it does the Roses...

    • Yeah yeah, blame it all on stuff that has zero relevance. These players are there to play and do exactly what they've done. You saying "after playing 7 weeks of high intensity rugby" all teams do this, year in year out. Stop trying to glorify your team. You're gonna get smashed by the All Blacks. Pipe down with the Ego

  • The eruption from the crowd, as the final whistle blows... bone chilling. This game was actually a great display of South African composure. We were trailing for 77:21 minutes. Not once did it look like they were giving up. In fact they were fighting harder with each passing minute. In the final minutes, after they took the lead, they kept cool heads. Played disciplined rugby. This is why, even though we were behind the entire game, i didn't lose hope for a single second. I just had a feeling the boys will have it in them. They never disappoint.

  • The Springboks fought every square inch in this 80-minute, great game by the Bokkies, who are the undefeatable. Whether they brought home the trophy or not, they had achieved way higher than the trophy,, they had UNITED THE BROKEN NATION. Everyone in SA is behind their boys. With this team, a history is made. I don't know much about Rugby as a sport, but I felt every push, kick, jump, crash, clash, and injury. Wow wow wow. I think I need to find a hot spot to watch the final here in Jozi. This is an insane clash of giants. Well done boyyyyyyyys!

    • Please stop saying they united a nation. All national teams have their own fans backing them. In 1995, 2007 and 2019 it was supposed to unite a nation and after those world cups the country kept getting worse and that meaning of uniting a nation meant nothing. And before you @ me. I am South African.

My Welsh husband never fails to ask my forecast for an upcoming Springbok game... (This man proudly wears his "Bok Trui" every Friday and every game day except if Wales are playing the Boks...) I had said low scoring close game stop start scrappy... (His Welsh brother in Cwmbran had said that the Boks would win by a country mile...) The reason behind my words was the "hype" of the week preceeding the game... So far this week there is a sense of calm...an acceptance by both teams playing in the final that the inevitable outcome will be whatever it may be and talking about it will simply not affect the outcome... I prefer it this way... 🇿🇦💚🏉

I'm pretty sure they were all still recovering when they walked onto the pitch. The English played a mediocre Fiji side the week previously and still were not good enough to score a try against us. If they did away with pools and (like the world cup cricket) played each each nation once, the English would not have made the semis. Just like the world cup cricket. Watching the whinging English lose gives me more joy than anything else on the planet and I'm proud of our boys that destroyed their hopes in two world cups in a single day.

  • THE ART OF WAR In the art of rugby war, much like warriors enduring a tempest's fury, the Springbok rugby team's unwavering resolve mirrored the wisdom of Sun Tzu. As the master strategist eloquently put it, "In war, the way is to avoid what is strong and to strike at what is weak." Hidden in plain sight the Springbok scrum manifested this principle, a silent powerhouse, ready to seize victory when the moment was ripe. In the midst of the game's intense clashes, England may have claimed fleeting victories, but as Sun Tzu wisely observed, triumphs in individual battles don't assure triumph in the war. Indeed England may have won the on-field battles, but, as Sun Tzu's timeless wisdom reminds us, victory in battle doesn't guarantee success in the war. The Springboks, akin to seasoned generals, exercised patience. In the game's dwindling moments, they seized the strategic vantage point with their scrum. They made substitutions, ceded territory, and fortified their scrum, ultimately clinching the war even when it appeared that England had triumphed in the battle on the field. It was then that England realized they had secured the battle but lost the war. In rugby, much like in war, the final score unveils the indomitable spirit, the very essence of the team that conquers...........................................................................................................................the Match.

They introduce a strong forwards to dominate the scrum and a great kicker to finish the game. Then comes the kick to the corner with razor sharp precision and accuracy and then they grind for a scrum, avoid making errors and let the opposition concede a penalty. As an armchair observer it seems like the boks might have already emptied their tank with those tough games against Ireland, Scotland, Tonga, France and even the Poms were a tough opponent, the AB's have only had 2 tough games and could very well have more energy than the boks in the final. Hoping that Jacques and Rassie can pull a few tricks out the hat for this one. Finally a big thanks to Jacques from bok supporters for the role you played in giving us something to be proud of again and all the best for your new venture in Ireland, it's going to be hard for us if you end up coaching another team against the boks though, but somehow it sort of feels inevitable.

  • Drama, thriller, or whatever you may call it, up to the very last split second!! Still get some goosebumps watching those final minutes. One to be remembered for a long time.

  • Funny how England tried to run and move the ball around urgently when they were out of time, but it was desperate and not clinical. They need to raise their game tempo so that when the moment arises, they can play at a breakneck speed with fluidity and skill.

  • It's so ridiculous that England now gets praised for playing a style that the Springboks used to get criticism for playing. It's tough being the champs, maybe if 90% of rugby world cup weren't won by the south then you northerners would understand.

  • The reason there was only one "meh" try in the entire game was because both teams had doubled-down their defensive strategies. It was a defensive game and was never going to be high-scoring with both teams flexing their defensive strategies for the win. That meant one thing - It was going to be a close/tight fought game. Look at Ireland and France - Arguably two of the three most exciting teams going forward. Both have generally good defences (usually) to boot, but when you attack you're more likely to expose yourself. France and Ireland exposed their respective underbellies and paid the price - Neither team on Saturday wanted to expose themselves. England rightly so - It was all about minimising one-another's chances first then trying to engineer something....anything....outside of that initial plan to keep the opposition out. Boring game? Perhaps. Tactically fascinating? You betya!

    • The wet weather meant it was never going to be a free-flowing game. England played to the conditions for the whole game. South Africa took a while to adjust. Keep the ball in hand, short passes. Keep it in the opposition's half. Kick all points on offer.

  • How come the English pundits say NOTHING about Farrell lying on the ground and then lifting his leg to trip the S.A. player? Cynical, 5 yards from the try line, if that had been spotted it would have been a (well-deserved) yellow card for the England captain.

    • And how come the South African pundits say nothing about the high tackle that happens at 7:40 in this video?
