I found the Cheapest Supercharged Corvette on the planet

2023 ж. 15 Нау.
1 080 049 Рет қаралды

Shawn Pilot ( known as the wheeler dealer at Gotham Garage on the Netflix hit series Car Masters Rust to Riches ) buys a Supercharged C5 Corvette for only $4600. The low-priced Vette has a nasty knocking noise that may cost thousands to fix.
Special thanks to Harry at HK Motorsports the Dyno Shop in Van Nuys, CA

  • 2 videos in this guy blows away most car TV shows.. The amount of effort and time it had to take to set up a bare C5 drivetrain had to be insane. Not to mention editing melting the body onto it.. Guy clearly has a insane work ethic and attention to detail. His obvious love for vettes alone is worthy enough for a sub, but his work ethic and attention to detail takes it way over the top.. This channel is going to be a wealth of knowledge for any Vette owner that likes to wrench on their own ride, as well as anyone looking to own a Vette and know what they are looking for ... Just a hunch, but I suspect nothing but top shelf craftsmanship schooling on Vette wrenching on this channel.. And with all that said. Congrats on the huge win on a big pony Vette on the cheap..

  • That was a great video. I felt like I was watching a tv show from back when tv mattered. The thing where you transitioned the car to the mechanical components was super cool and that transition back where you slid under the car was done really well too. I have done some minor video editing and I can imagine that took a long time and a lot of set up to get it to look so good. Anyway looking forward to more videos on your channel. Looks like it's been a while at this point. Hope the editing and production wasn't so much it drove you away. What you've done is really impressive!

  • these videos are incredibly well made and Shawn's narration is really inviting as it is informative. I have been working on a lot of supercharged and turbo cars over the past 20 years and I learned a lot from watching his 2 videos. looking forward to more in the future. I do have 1 question, are these the actual prices you paid for these vettes. if so amazing finds.

  • The thrills, the chills, the romance, the drama, the shredded rubber and chunks of aluminum debris-it’s all here, dude. I’ve watched two of your Vette videos and they are totally enjoyable and informative.

  • Shawn, I know it sounds unlikely that you would have missed it but I just wanted to mention one thing. One very popular modification on forced induction C5 and C6 Corvettes to prevent knock was to spray water methanol into the intake, this was normally done by adding a bong under the existing windshield washer fluid tank and having a pump under the bumper and a hose into the intake tube on the bottom. It's possible to gloss over something like that because of where it is in relation to the work you were doing. If the windshield washer tank is low and it's not spraying water methanol then that would explain the knocking. It just seems weird to me that someone who put that much effort into building the vet would not have it tuned correctly. Many people just used normal -20 windshield washer fluid because it is 70% water and 30% methanol and that way they can continue to use their washers as normal but some went out in bought special juice which was a 50-50 mix. The windshield washer fluid is almost as good. You end up with about 113 octane equivalency with -20° windshield, washer fluid and 116 octane equivalency with 50-50 mix.

  • Shawn, amazing find! I can’t believe you scored that car for that price. And I thought you lucked out on the’72! Awesome presentation, great editing, no wasted viewing minutes. If you had a hot chic for a helper? Another level. My son and I rented a C6 manual when we went to Daytona Raceway for the Rolex. First time driving a Vette for the both of us, he had an STI , I have an ATS-V. Big step up from both cars. We had an absolute blast in it! Keep the videos coming!
