  • This biggest problem with these cars is they fall into the category of cars that the people who want them can’t afford them and the people that can afford them don’t want them.

    • EXACTLY! It's like they're great, reliable, luxurious and unique, but they're priced too competitively with the Germans/Americans. People say that this car's dagger is its Japanese reliability, but if you're spending 45k+ on a sports car, do you really care that much? The only buyers at this point are people who want to be unique with their car choice instead of just settling for an M car

  • i'd take this over a GT Mustang. I have only seen 3 of these in real life. I see Mustangs all the time. It may not be as fast as the Ford or V8 Camaro but it will be a lot more comfy and have more safety features which will be handy with that 400+ horsepower. Its still faster than almost anything else on the road.

  • Every time I see one in person I'm impressed. It has a very Japanese muscle car look. If I were in the market (and had oodles of disposable income) I would buy this for all the reasons people don't. Good looks, but not over the top, decent power and handling, but not harsh or out of control. It seems more of a GT type car, something you could live with daily and be comfortable. And honestly they are relatively cheap because no one bought them, so win win.

    • Completely agree. People pay too much attention to spec sheets and not on the driving experience itself on regular streets. This car is immaculate and perfect for driving experience in normal conditions, and then it's got extra oomph on top of that. Great on the track and off it, and will last longer than any track car.

    • @@Melchiorblade7 the funniest part is that it still does 0-60 in 4 seconds flat. New m4’s do 0-60 in 3.7, I don’t think 0.3 seconds is worth much faster depreciation, extreme levels of unreliability and terrible resale value. I get the appeal to bmw & Mercedes, but their fanboys act like they blow Lexus out of the water when in reality they’re slightly quicker but much less practical & a huge waste of money.

    • @@amuroray88 Idk how much you know about cars man, the v8 Toyota/Lexus manufactures is probably the most reliable engine ever created, it won’t have any issues whatsoever for a very long time if you maintain it. How can you say get an m3 while also telling saying not to get a Lexus with a v8 because it’s “not cheap to repair”? Do you have any idea how many more mechanical/electrical issues BMW’s have & how much more expensive they are to repair & maintain? Lol you gotta do a little more research on cars man, you don’t seem to be very knowledgeable no offense intended.

  • I’ve tracked many cars over the years, and I currently own a Supra Launch Edition. The RC-F is hands down the best track day car I’ve ever owned. Drive it to the track in comfort, thrash it for the day, and drive it home knowing it is going to get you there. It is the most under rated vehicle of my lifetime. If anyone knows PIR, 149mph down the front straight, and it would pull away from most track prepped race day cars in the corners. The car is fantastic to anyone who spends the time getting to know it.

  • The wing is not a wing, but a spoiler that increases pressure on the rear windscreen at high speeds. These decrease drag and lift over the rear wheels and are very functional.

  • From a graphic design perspective Lexus uses their “L” logo in different places on their car they are just turned at different angles or backwards. Like the little silver piece at the rear of the side window. The outer edges of the front grill that everyone seems to have an issue about. The turn signal. Lexus just turns their “L” in hidden different angles. They have a good graphic design taste in their vehicles

  • Back when the RC-F launched, I went to a RC-F driving event at Sonoma speedway. Drove the RC-F for three controlled laps. Slow shifter, heavy feeling and all the other points Doug mentioned. Then we were given a choice to get a power lap as a passenger with a skilled driver or to drive the M4 with DCT. I chose to drive the M4. What a difference!! The M4 felt faster, more nimble and way better steering feel. I left the event wanting an M4 and told the event staff the brutal truth of how much better the M4 really was at the track.

  • Previous Lexus worker here, I can give a lil insight from the inside: Lexus vehicles in general arent selling as much as the company wants due to the fact that many of the features are several generations behind, as well many of the features are very dumb or difficult to remember, for example, the RC models turn signal switch doesn't stay in the direction you've flicked it, instead it works more like a really long button.

  • A comment on the rear seats. I'm 5'11". It takes a little bit of gymnastics to get in. As long as the seats aren't all the way back (because they will go allll the way back) there is enough room for your feet and legs, though your knees might stick out from the side. The seat itself is actually pretty comfortable back there. As long as you have that little bit of leg room, its enough for maybe a couple of hour trip at most.

  • Call me crazy if you must, but I'd choose the RC-F (or now the IS 500) even if the price was exactly the same as a similarly equipped BMW 4 series, and it's not because I'm a Bimmer hater. The Lexus V8 is just soooo smooth and great sounding, maybe my fave V8 that isn't made by Ferrari tbh. Also there's the fact I see 4 series (and BMW's of all types) every single day where I live in North Texas, but the RC-F is a far rarer sight. I mean sure Lexus could have done a little more to distinguish this from an RC-350, but I think it's subtlety is one of it's strong suits. That and the fact it would be a good car to own after the lease/warranty is up.

  • Bro butchered this review. If you actually stepped foot in and owned this vehicle (I have 3 years) it is a beautiful machine. It pulls like crazy, handles like no other it is so smooth and flowy. It sounds good and can get going pretty quickly. The interior is immaculate and nothing but quality.

  • My son had a relatively low mileage 130i which cost him a fortune in repairs. Now he has one of these. Having driven them both and plenty of BMW's prior the word I would use to describe the RC-F is Refined. Lovely, smooth, powerful with beautiful engine note, and rear seats big enough for a small adult. Nice.

    • Those 130i are pretty simple to work on. Teach your son to use tools. The RCF has a few common issues to watch out for as well. Anything fun will.

  • Doug you really should get a single guy that's an uncle like me to review coupes. I have a 2010 Camaro SS, and it's comfortable to drive, the small back seats are great for my dogs, or niece/nephews. This Lexus has some cool comforts for the back and as you said, Lexus is discounting these puppies! Here in Canada, dealers are buying over market value to ship down to the U.S. because used cars are apparently in demand down there, so if I can get a better deal for my Camaro than I bought it for, and Toyota wants to give me a better deal to get rid of an incredibly well designed and well built Lexus that should be the real Supra, this seems like a really cool upgrade from my car. There's all types of demographics that would love different cars, they just have to be marketed fairly.

  • I drive a q60 and this gives me a very similar vibe it’s not as pretty but has a v8 and definitely is more reliable. Even in todays crazy market the price isn’t as bad as other v8 Lexus cars. This is my style of car it’s a good balance of speed luxury and Toyota reliability.
