Without the proper tires on these cars, I have no idea what conclusion one can draw. Every SUV I've seen is sold with tires completely inappropriate for offroading, especially in snow. Tires intended for luxurious highway driving completely mask the offroading capability of an SUV.

Are you an American by any chance? I'm asking as most cars imported into America from foreign makers are restricted. If you doubt what I say look into it. We've had 79/80mog vehicles for decades there's a simple example.
Here in Chile the Prado is equipped with the 4.0 V6 and the 2 door has the 2.7, actually the 4.0 is a BEAST absolutely the king of the road

@@SM-1010 You may enjoy the Mercedes G wagon and it looks square and practical, but the reason why I never bought one is reliability issues. My neighbour had one and after many repairs and maintenance issues he sold his. I think one of the problems Mercedes has is an over reliance on sensors, which tend to fail over time. I still have a Mercedes SLK320 and just recently the rear wheel speed sensors failed causing the car to go in limp mode. The only brand I can think of which has a worse maintenance/ repair record is Ferrari with an average annual maintenance cost of around $ 7,000 and expensive transmission rebuild/ replacement requirement every 50,000 km, which is ridiculous.
This is by far the best SUV comparison. Would be nice if they all have the same tires, but that would cost too much.

After seeing that the last episodes where on snow, I kinda want to see the previous comparisons done again, but in snow.
Previous tests was shot in the rocky area. But softer winter tires can be easily damaged on such surface. That's why we're skipping it in winter snow times.

@Christ Bk agreed. The Prado is underpowered. My Fortuner had the same 2.7 engine and it's 200kg lighter. It's ideal for the Fortuner but the Prado needs a 3.5 L minimum

In snow and ice, better tires help more than anything else! But after tires, locked differentials are the next most important. Still interesting to see the old LX keep up with the newer vehicles even with only a center locker.
I thought the Mercedes G Class would go through all obstacles simply, but the Land Cruiser, l had no hopes
Expected more from the tundra... But I guess its weight was really holding it back
Really interesting. It would be good if they were on the same tyres. The Disco 4 surprised me, I thought it would better the others except the G-Wagen. OK the tyres were over inflated but why did it always pull to the right? This isn’t something I’ve experienced with D4s.

Hi Diyas, I love your videos, but this time it shows pretty nothing. I mean it is hard to tell which is the best. It would be better to wait for no snow time, because these SUVs are awesome. But here on icy uphill this is the matter of tires, 4WD system and driver skills combined - IMO. This is why you should give us an information about every SUVs tires brand/model like in your other videos. But well, it is pleasure to watch it anyway. :) Can't wait for another battle. Cheers.

Indeed. His tests usually highlight the differences between vehicles, but this one, while fun to watch, I think is not very useful, because it only really demonstrates differences between tires, and he doesn’t provide enough information about the tires to draw useful conclusions. Sure, diff locks make some difference here, but without a camera angle from the other side, we can’t tell when all wheels are slipping (without locks). No locks + all four wheels slipping would probably give nearly identical results to diffs locked, but we can’t tell in this video if that is what was happening. Still fun to watch, but not very informative this time. ☹️

It's difficult to tell with the tire differences, but it looked like the Disco and and G wagon had better traction control systems than the others. Of course, nothing beats locked diffs.
The Land Cruiser has a good traction control system aswell, the one on the video was literally the base model Land Cruiser you can get which means it never had the off road goodies. Still u have to give credit for the most basic Land Cruiser that lacks off road goodies to do that well.
They were literally the worst performing, the discovery couldn’t even make it up the first obstacle 🤦♂️
@@izzy031096 as if other cars easily made it in the first attempt itself. The author said that the discovery 4 tires are over inflated and he found that only after the discovery finished the 2nd challenge.

That merc... really surprised me.. that tires are not really design for that kind situation but still manage the opstical really well.. because i thought the tundra will do it better because the suspension travel is really high.
Imagine spending all that money on your off road Tundra and it still doesn’t make it up the small icy dip any better than a 16 year old LX

I would love to see you add a 2020 Land Rover Range Rover, like my P400. Full sized, top of the line, luxury hotel on wheels in the "Mud and Ruts" program. It climbs nicely and the turbo provides all the power you could need. :)
And a stock standard Discovery 4 will run rings around it off road.

@@SUVBattle Honda Pilot. I owned a 2007 version and it was primarily 2 wheel drive (front wheels). 2nd in the list is the Toyota Highlander. I see it as a 4Runner for the passenger that needs more comfort. Really excited for the heavy hitters as well. Want to finally see which is better between the tundra and the 4Runner

How is that Prado a 2018? The newest it can be is an early 2017 as they facelifted it at the end of 2017.
Hm... owner said that it is 2018. Maybe there is difference between production date and registration date.
Fun to watch, but with so many differences in traction control, diff locks and regular tires vs studded tires you can’t really draw conclusions.
