"The new Mercedes-Benz G-Class: An icon reinvents itself"
The new Mercedes-Benz G-Class presents itself in top form. Whether on or off the road and whatever the operating conditions, the off-road vehicle impresses with its performance, cutting-edge assistance systems, outstanding handling, and safety. At the same time, the new suspension, the DYNAMIC SELECT driving modes, the "G‑Mode" and the three 100‑percent differential locks enhance not only ride comfort but also agility - on any surface.
"The new G-Class is setting the bar higher still in all relevant areas - in terms of performance both on and off the road as well as with regard to comfort and telematics. Our 'longest-serving' model series is therefore ideally equipped to continue its success story. In short, the new 'G' is still a 'G', only better," stresses Ola Källenius, Member of the Board of Daimler AG responsible for Group Research and Mercedes-Benz Cars Development.
Working on the development of the new G‑Class was extremely challenging for the team. "Further technical development of an icon such as the G-Class was both a challenge and an opportunity at the same time. Each part and every bolt came under close scrutiny," explains Dr Gunnar Güthenke, Head of the Off‑Road Product Group at Mercedes-Benz. "With the body, our main focus was on increasing the vehicle rigidity and the connections between the suspension and drivetrain with the ladder-type frame."

    • I’ll just never understand as to why Mercedes doesn’t offer 4X4 option on all their vehicles. The AWD just doesn’t cut it in the Mid West US brutal winters. As soon as I saw the G in water I thought omg the engine would be flooded. That’s truly amazing vehicle

    • because this is not an offroad car. The course in the video is specifically designed for the car, in real conditions this vehicle is garbage and would get destroyed by a 1989 Hilux in absolutely everything.

  • I live in sweden and was a driver in the military and we use customized G-Classes as terrain vehicles and ive done all of these parts during exercise. It's hella fun tbh! Also I've been that guy having to walk with a stick in front of the car in belly depth water and mud q:)

  • arent those metal ramps part of the trick? the surface is made that way to stop it from being slipery but it also seems to "claw" the car tyres. Wouldnt a gle climb it?

    • There are plenty of videos of that, can you search tube or you only like to troll. You dont seem to know what are those cars capable of. They are one of the best off road vehicles, 3 locking diffs are all you need to know, since no standard off road vehicle has that. Majority of off road cars dont have that option.

    • In France too, with the latest models that compete with Audi Q7, Cayenne, Bentayga, Levante, Range Rover and some Cullinan...But here the french army had the P4 in the eighties, based on the G, but a bit crap version with an anemic diesel four pots !! I had a friend had a G350, it was amazing at its time, and still today if I had the money to purchase one...

  • Lol, the thing is so expensive that it has to have its own made up off road course. Well, you wouldn't want to bring a G Wagon for a real off road drive. Might dent the $10,000 beautiful bumper, or smash the $2,000 headlight. BTW if you kids think the pricing I am saying is the real pricing, a reminder that I am just exaggerating. But it is still far too expensive to get it smashed around on a real off road track.
