I would never would have been able to make it through my first year without your guides. Thank you for making such high quality videos!
Awesome - I'm glad they've been helping you learn the game!!
I taught him everything he knows about the game. ;-]
Having played DST alot it's so wild to see the singleplayer ruins, and also very nostalgic! I remember the first time I did a ruins rush as willlow in OG DST and wasted thulecite on walls not knowing it wasn't very renewable in DS.
Yeah, the single player ruins experience is definitely a bit different from DST!
@@salendrak I always remember being really scared of the ruins in original don't starve and I still am just because of how long of a trek it can be to even reach them, there's no true plan B if things go wrong, which they easily can! In DST, not so much since they're usually near to atleast one cave entrance, so I always have a Plan B (Bail) if I need it.
On one hand I'm so grateful that these videos helped me take my first steps in the constant. On the other hand, I'm somewhat saddened that my own learning progress has already outpaced the guides themselves. But the videos are always super entertaining to watch :)
Yeah, I can totally understand that. I had hoped to have these out a couple of months ago, but life keeps getting in the way!! 😆
I'm seriously so glad this guide exists! I have never set foot on the ruins because I had no idea what to expect and didn't wanna die instantly but this helps so much!! Especially appreciate the way you explained the nightmare cycle I never understood it until now
So when you going to take the dive?
Very helpful Sal! Me and my bro have been struggling in the ruins, but this definitely cleared up a few things!
Now go forth, and loot the ruins with reckless abandon!!
I learned so much by your videos, you definitely deaserve more attention...
Thanks - I really appreciate that!
Thanks Sal been waiting for this one!
Next one will be out by Tuesday at the latest, finishing off the Ruins!
Another day another useful guide thx Sal
My pleasure!!
great great video!!! and beautiful as well as neat title page. keep up the good work!
Thank you so much!!
Thank you SO MUCH for making these! I usually never even leave the surface because the caves scare me on their own 😂 but these tutorials are so helpful and im excited to take on the ruins now!! 💪
Go for it, and let me know how it goes!! Just make sure you're prepared to recover from a touchstone / meat effigy in case things go...poorly! 😆
Finally I've been waiting for this for a while
Final installment will be out within about 5 days!!
Great stuff once more!
Thanks!!
Heya Sal! Great video, really explains a lot!
I'm also apparently early but Sal's vids are amazing so not very surprised
Thanks Box!
Best videos ! Thx so much
You're most very welcome!! 😊
About damn Time!! ;-]
Right?!
Great video keep it up
Thanks!! 😁
Its here!!!
Ta-daaaa!!! 😁
And final ruins guide will be out within about 5 days or so.
Very underrated
😁
Uuh Nice! I died so many times when trying to explore the ruins xD R.I.P to many of my worlds and characters :'D
I probably should have mentioned that you really shouldn't go into the ruins unless you have touchstones and / or meat effigies from which to recover should things go...poorly! 🤣
I remember the first time I went into the ruins in ROG I died so fast 😂 I still haven't actually explored ROG ruins as that trip scarred me LOL. But I've explored ruins in DST and killed ancient guardian. However, I'm still not super comfy exploring in that area. Those monkeys are so annoying. They followed me to the ancient science station one time and started grabbing my gems and stuff in the chest I had there and I had stuff on the ground and I was like this is a job for raul. I'm not dealing with this 🤣
I think splumonkeys are no joke the most evil beings in all of Don't Starve. Hands down!
Here it is! Ladies and gentlemen!
Drumroll please!!!
Do the ancient statues give a different loot table depending on the nightmare phase, or do they drop the same amount at all times? Thx
The statue itself drops the same loot all of the time, but in single player if it has a gem, the color of the gem can change as described in the video. Additionally, in DS and DST they can spawn a shadow creature if destroyed in the nightmare phase, so I guess that counts as extra loot?
Finally, I can survive hell
Have fun storming the ruins!!
You should have say, that in DST shadow creatures do not drop fuel after end of nightmare cycle. And this creatures don't restore your sanity after being killed
Ohhhh good point! Though killing them still restores sanity, doesn't it? Or is it only the ones that attack when you're crazy that restore sanity...I forget....
@@salendrak, only low-sanity shadow creatures restore sanity after being killed
@@dajekotlyar4408 I'm honestly not sure if I had ever realized that before!
are the ruins and caves the same in no dlc don't starve, or at least incredibly similar?
Pretty much! You just have the benefit of things like Moggles if you have Reign of Giants enabled, which really helps a lot down in the ruins. But for the most part they layouts and mobs and stuff is the same.
You should cover adventure mode
That's actually next on the list once I finish the ruins! 😊
If the ruins are considered to be perpetually in night time, does that mean the lamp posts from Hamlet can be built down there for infinite light?
I've honestly never tried it, so not sure! But give it a try and let me know how it works!
entering the actual ruins is harder than looting it and killing the ancient guardian, seriously shadow splemonkeys are so annoying, i can deal with clockworks and nightmares but shadow splemonkeys are actually so hard to avoid
Those monkeys are definitely EVIL!!!
I know its been 2 years but How are you able to see the current days on caves?
Combined status mod adds that. If you're on console or mobile, then you're outta luck.
Are there supposed to be ruins in ever cave in reign of giants? i got three caves but only 1 has ruins... any guidance would be appreciated
Yup - every cave level in single player will have a sinkhole that leads down into the ruins level. Have you fully explored those cave areas? Sometimes the cave spider dens can obscure the sinkhole on the map, making it hard to see, but in general the sinkhole should always be in an area with cave spiders next to a blue fungal turf area with some bunny huts. I've only once seen a cave area where the map was split with a chasm that could only be crossed with a lazy explorer, with the sinkhole on that other side.
Yayyyy
😆
I died from the lack of food
Doh!! If you're down in the ruins and running low on food, best bets are blue mushrooms or a visit to the splumonkeys. Better luck next time!!
finally another one its been 3000 years....
Don't make me feel old... 😆
I died from wolfgang eating me
It's not his fault though. He was hungry!
@@salendrak he had just eaten all my base
Well DST is lot easier when finding the ruins because of the world gen tweaks and roll backs
Yeah - location of the ruins sinkhole in single player is pretty random.
there's this guy i see everywhere on public servers that always picks wes with the magmatic skin and he comes back with the chest full of thulecite crowns. on day 16. edit: challenger wes skin, not magmatic.
Impressive! But as they say, a good Wes player is better than a bad (insert character) any day!!
Where monke cameo?
Coming in the Shipwrecked guides?
Has anyone ever used the "Belt of Hunger:?
Not me! 😆
@@salendrak I just checked, I have 3428 hours in this game and have never made it. I might do it once to say that I have...
yes. wormwood in spring can be annoying.. :D
@@cobrakai7251 LOL!!!
wrong title
Right?! Gotta go have a word with my video editor... ...oh wait - that's me!
Took you long enough 😡😡😡
Sorry been having a bad day :(
@@dspeplayer8735 aw
Right?! I had originally planned to have this out back in the summer or fall. What happened?!?!
