  • Hi Salendrak; first off, I just want to say that this series of yours is honestly phenomenal. The quality of it is absolutely outstanding, it's helped me more than ANYTHING else I've ever checked out for tips. Seriously, I can't say enough how amazing it is, the editing is great, the voice-over is spot on, it's just so awesome!!! It deserves to have so many more views than it does, and I sincerely hope more and more people share this around the Don't Starve community and will encourage newbies to check it out as their go-to guide. Now that said, on to the main reason I'm writing this comment. That being....could you _please_ (oh please oh please!) consider doing a second series for the Shipwrecked DLC? I've looked around for other guides to it here on KZhead, but to be frank none of them come anywhere CLOSE to the quality (or more importantly the in-depthness) that your series for Reign of Giants did. And it wouldn't necessarily need to be as long as the RoG guide, since you could skip a lot of the basics that you already covered there. It would be such an immeasurable help to me and I'm sure to many, *many* other newbies. So that said, I really _REALLY_ hope you'll consider starting a beginner's guide series for Shipwrecked sometime soon! I'm positive that my fellow viewers who have watched (and been immensely helped by) your RoG videos would be just as thrilled at the prospect. If you don't have the time to start another series nowadays, I completely understand, but if you _do_ have the time....well, please think about it! But even if you don't, I wanna say thanks again so so much for all the help you've already given though your spectacular Reign of Giants guide! 😊🥰

    • Funny you should ask, because YES - I will be doing Shipwrecked guides, hopefully starting sometime over the summer! I've only got one more Reign of Giants guide on the list for the beginner's guide series covering adventure mode, and after that, Shipwrecked! Also, thank you so much for the compliments! 😊

    • @@salendrak That's so awesome, I'm so happy to hear it! I've just started playing Shipwrecked (I'm playing on the Switch port, since my laptop died a while ago) and, yeah... I'm not doing so hot, compared to how well I've been doing with RoG after watching your videos to help me out. I'm really looking forward to it, and I'm also pleasantly surprised that there's another vid on the way for RoG, as I was under the impression it was already complete. I'm happy that it'll cover Adventure Mode, because I have NO idea what all it entails!

    • @@salendrak Haha, so I've heard!! On the Switch port, when you buy the base game, it already includes Reign of Giants and Shipwrecked, with only Hamlet being a separate purchase, DLC-wise. I (stupidly) bought it not that long after getting the base version, thinking it would be like Shipwrecked: different, with new mechanics to learn and maybe in some ways a _bit_ more difficult...but still do-able for a beginner (almost-intermediate) player. Boy did I learn! Lol I realized how wrong I was before the game even started, because the game itself literally tells you how friggin' difficult it is, even for experienced players! Haven't touched Hamlet once since then, just been sticking with Shipwrecked (hence my request😉). As of now I've just been using the guide videos from the Don't Starve KZheadr "Beard 777" to get by as far as Shipwrecked is concerned. And while they _have_ been helpful...yours are just *SO* much better. I really can't stress enough the quality your guides have. Seriously dude, it's really impressive, keep up the good work! Can't tell you how much it's appreciated for newbies 😊

  • Previously the main thing I used the star caller's staff for was just to stand there the whole time and get a net of ~30 sanity per cast. You could do multiple at once so 3-5 would restore quite a lot. Still, it wasn't something I was going out of my way to get. But now they've buffed the duration to 3.5 days like in DST, making it super handy. Slap 3 down right next to each other and stand between them, and you can have a little pit stop where you gain 75 sanity/minute while you wait out the cycle or plan on what to do next. Technically the stars can cause overheating, but not in the caves/ruins where you have 240 insulation, you'll be moving on long before it becomes an issue.

I didn't see this little mini series last year, but now I'm ready to go for an extended spelunk and experience all the stuff down under. Salendrak, your vids have been super helpful since day 1 and have always been excellent quality and content. The ancient guardian was practically right off screen from where I spawned, got hit once and I barely lived as I forgot to switch my armor on. I healed up a bit and ran to explore a little bit more. I saw a slurper and ran from it, but got stuck on a depth worm and it one hit me. Now trying to decide if I want to start a new world or load it back up and try to get my items.

Maxwell dies pretty fast with just football helmets on (before the first one breaks without healing, actually - just tested it!) and adding in having to heal during the fight just adds further complications that would get beginner's killed.
