The Microsoft Pro IntelliMouse is simultaneously the most perfect and yet most disappointing mouse I’ve ever used, find out why. MS have done a fantastic job with this mouse and you'll probably love it!

  • The old MSIE3.0 sensor moves the cursor much less than modern sensors when lifting the mouse up and placing it down again. If there's an improvement in modern sensors, the cursor should not move at all when picking up the mouse and placing it down again. How does the 3389 fare?

  • One of the biggest selling points for mice, to me, is their durability/expected lifetime. Having played games on kb/m for 2 decades, I'm done with 1-2 year mice. Razer is the biggest culprit, but all of the major brands have had durability issues with either the LMB/RMB or the scroll wheel. Since I've used the heavy Deathadder for a long time - bought 4 times to replace different parts failing each mouse - the weight isn't a con and the durability made this an easy purchase. What's bizarre is that I hadn't heard about this Intellimouse update anywhere, I accidentally saw it on Amazon when looking through to replace yet another Deathadder. How did such a fantastic mouse go under the radar? Is it because it isn't chintzy and lights up like a disco ball? Is it Microsoft's failure in marketing? Who knows.

EDIT: I have big hands but the Intellimouse is gigantic even for me and I lift the mouse a lot so in order to be able to do that I was using a really "tense" grip, plus the weight is just too much.

    @TheKennyWorld@TheKennyWorld3 жыл бұрын
    • No offense meant, but you need to take a focused look at your hand and wrist posture. Mice aren't heavy and you should never feel pain from basic mouse movements, whether it's 105g or 80g. 20g extra (20 paperclips) isn't going to hurt your wrist if you're holding your hand and wrist with good posture. If 20g was enough to do this to you, you aren't going to be able to use the computer when you're old because your wrist will be destroyed from whatever you're doing to it with every single mouse.

I can't figure it out, before they were adding weights that you could add to your mice (e.g. G9x) and now they are drilling wholes in the mice. All i can think off is "Gimmick!". Personally i like a bit heavier mice and i dont understand what is the whole deal with this weight now a days.

    @abepl@abepl3 жыл бұрын

  • My first Intellimouse lasted me 6 years and now this new piece of crap lasted a year and now it's double clicking. I guess that means the switch is bad? Microsoft is on to making cheap junk and charging four times more than my first intellimouse. What a joke. What is the best long lasting mouse in the market today?

    @TomM60@TomM602 жыл бұрын
    • Unfortunately almost every "pro gaming" mouse has the chance of developing double clicking due to their push for low button latency, though another Pro Intellimouse might never experience it for years. Some mice also add button debounce settings in software to increase latency at the cost of preventing it, which is like a bandaid solution, but one that is unavoidable. I don't recall this feature on the Pro Intellimouse, it's just one setting and done, but it's only really optical switches that can prevent this happening long term.. though I suppose they too could fail for other reasons. The Razer DeathAdder V2 and V2 Pro could be an option for you though, but definitely check with the retailer (and microsoft directly) as the warranty on your mouse might be 2-3 years depending on where you're located: support.microsoft.com/en-gb/warranty. Otherwise some mice with adjustable debounce time in software. Similar shapes could include Glorious Model D, ZOWIE EC1/2-C, Pulsar Xlite V2.

    • @@justnvc Thank you. I finally found the controls to my intellimouse and the only thing I could adjust was the speed of the double click.
