Checking out an old favourite... the Microsoft Pro Intellimouse, the updated Intelliexplorer 3.0. How does it compare by today's standards? Is this how the Zowie EC1 got its shape?
It's interesting to go back to it. I actually changed from this one to the Intelliexplorer 4.0, which was smaller, but still too big. It wasn't until I got the Razer Copperhead and later the Razer Diamondback that I realized I was missing out on mice that suited me.
Funnily enough I later went to the Razer DeathAdder and it was 5 years before I realized I needed a smaller mouse and got the Logitech G302, then started this channel.
Amazing hey? Mouse history.

The old school original, CS 1.6 players will never forget. Awesome review as always.
It's just the same shape tho, the sensor and features are different.
@@TheJoy___ no shit
I was at a customer's house the other day. I immediately spotted an original Microsoft Intellimouse Explorer after entering the home. I had to palm it. Felt so nice.
EXACTLY BRYAN
I used the intelli 3.0 all the way back in CS 1.4. Those were the times!
"This isn't even my Finalmouse" lmao
I read that in the Cell voice smfh
rocket jump ninja trollin hahaha
i wish they'd do this re-release but for the 1.1a WMO, i think there's a good amount of people that would want that
Yes, i tried IME 3.0, IMO 1.1a and WMO, they all feel good. After i tried a WMO i understood why many gamers want it back
At home, I still have the 1.1SE. it will be awesome to see an updated version of this legendary mouse..
THIS.. just re-released the both WMO and IMO 1.1A's with the *MLT04* sensor.. BUT with better LMB and RMB switches. I used WMO's in my LAN center about 10 years ago because they were CHEAP ($16inc tax from the wholesaler). The ONLY fault with them were the RMB switches - everyone played WC3 Dota. I ended up returning a literal box full of them for warranty, around 75+ (I must have bought over 100+ of them) and just kept the warranty mice piling up. Microsoft had a 3 YEAR WARRANTY on them. Because I dealt directly with the wholesaler, and since they were EOL and discontinued product. I got a FULL CREDIT on those mice hahaha. It's as if I was using the WMO 1.1A mice FOR FREE during those 3-4 years I had them. I have a soft spot for 1.1A's
There's the SS106 that has a fairly similar shape, but it's not as good (the edges are too sharp and I don't like the smooth finish). I'd definitely buy a re-released WMO. Nothing beats it for tracking-style aim. I've tried 10+ modern mice, and I'm currently using the Zowie S1 -- it does feel quite similar. It's slightly more rounded & wider at the front. I grip it in the same way as the WMO and I'm enjoying it.
Eliran Nuriani The Special-Edition belongs in the “God-tier”. Got two of them in excellent condition. Wish they could bring em back with the 3389 sensor.
this is the mouse you bring to school to game with, teachers would have no idea lol.
Except for the white led light strip on the back lol
@@ammonsharp2936 think you can disable it in the software
You could probably take any black Zowie mouse
@@ijaz5911 are there any other mice that have the same dimensions as the Razer basilisk or? need a tall large to extra large mouse to Palm grip
Oliver Cairn maybe g502 or gwolves skoll
This looks like the type of mouse youd find in a school computer lab
That's because the original was something you would find in a school computer lab
MrZipapezooda ah just the kind everyone stole lol
@@PurpMcSquirt The original basically is the school computer lab mouse. And hell it was a good gaming mouse for the time if I believed in the testimonies of the time.
@@jackedup447 Yep, I've got one overclocked to 500hz and while it can't track very high speeds it's definitely still a serviceable mouse. New one is a MASSIVE upgrade tho
In school labs if you was lucky you could find Microsoft IntelliMouse Optical 1.1 and WhellMouse Optical with MLT04. And from them to CS 1.6 and Quake 3 Arena the step was short
I was so excited to see this review! I bought one a few days ago to replace my old 3.0. It’s the mouse I’ve always gone back to. I’ve been using one for almost 20 years and I couldn’t wait to get my hands on the 3389
Used to love the Intellimouse back in last 90s, early 00s. Good to see it's still being made today, I'll have to give it a try.
ahhh that shape still feels perfect and naturally in my hand all these years later. it may be """"""""heavy""""""" but its still the king to me
Something about the Intellimouse I just find so cool. Would never main the thing, but I'd like to have it for the collection.
Its a classic. It’s kinda like a sleeper. It looks classy and performs well.
Main it bro. Unless you need additional buttons. Otherwise main it. At least for everyday use.
I love this mouse. It's my daily now. This mouse was also sub $50 CDN with free shipping in Canada for pre-order at the time which is a huge plus for Canadians.
This review convinced me to try out this mouse. I love large palm grip mice and this one is a keeper. Got a refresh off amazon for $28, so worth it.
The "app-specific settings" looks fun
I didn't even start watching the review, but holly shit I was waiting for this review!
It's my favorite. Big mouse, perfect shape, now with an awesome sensor. I never thought Microsoft would make this happen. Full of surprises. I bought 2!
Nice things for sure except that it isnt wireless and too heavy
Decided to splurge and got the viper ultimate based on my grip width and your reviews. It’s perfect! And I’m getting some great kills. Coming from a deathadder 2013 I had no idea what I was missing!
The IntelliMouse Explorer was my first non-wheel mouse, and it was amazing, such a great shape. Their IntelliMouse ball mice was also what I used before that, until the Razer Boomslang :P I've been using mice of that general shape all the way up to the Roccat Kone Pure Ultra now recently (MX series, G502, Basilisk, Kone AIMO). An extremely comfortable shape.
you would love the new wireless deathadder then!
Have used the Intelli 3.0. This shape is the best. For me it beats every other shape by a mile. So happy it was released again.
The hand feels so relaxed, doesn't it?
@@wasmagpie yes :)
@@linusfaymonville What kind of grip do you use?
@@mosk11tto sometimes palm, sometimes fingertip
@@linusfaymonville if i have hand 19.2x10.5cm, do you think is good for me? My grip is fingertip. Thanks.
The intellimouse 3.0 back in the day was designed the way it was for comfort and durability. It wasnt necessarily aimed at people with large hands or gaming but for comfortable day to day office work, apparently alot of RnD and money went into the design and ergonomics. It just happened to have a quite capable sensor for gaming, which it became known for despite being rather large and heavy. They later refreshed it with the classic, having a sensor that tracks surprisingly well on odd surfaces like glass making it more versatile. Then again with the pro, having a modern gaming sensor, actually targeting gamers. It's still heavy, but thats the way it was intended(I'd love a lightweight one tho). I'm sure it will last a good long while too. I still use my og intellimouse 3 from 2004(old quake days) and work everyday for he last 5 years, surprisingly no issues. Easily one of if not the most comfortable mouse I've ever used, at work or gaming. Even if my aim isn't 100% with it, it just feels right in the hand.
This is the review we've been waiting for.
The rattling in the mouse is due to the sidebuttons. for some reason if the sidebuttons arent clicked a lot they rattle a little bit; the fix is to press the side buttons like 30 times and it goes away
I absolutely love this mouse. It's really a bit too big for my hand, but the sensor is excellent and I absolutely love the way the silver/black version looks on my desk. Also zero rattle whatsoever on the one I got.
got the silver one too best mouse ive ever had.
still waiting for the g wolves skoll to be reviewed
Man I logged so many hours on this mouse in grade school for cs 1.6. good times :)
Man im hyped for all the mice reviews zy is gonna give us.
I had to buy my old love MX518 despite the fact it is not the best but it was my first REAL mouse in 2004 (MX 510 actually) and I love everything on it. Still enjoying your reviews and especially gameplay. ;-)
i wonder if a v2 version of this with improved wire and low weight would be good.
No, look how broad and flat the shape is on the right edge. In my experience, left and right borders should go vertically down, and zowie just did that.
the skoll basically.
Pop this thing full of holes and add a paracord and you have 10/10 mouse for us with big hands. Skoll is pretty good but its still kinda smallish.
Don't worry, we'll only have to wait 15 years for that.
The cable's not bad in a bungee -- no problem for me. Low weight would be nice, though. In general, I found the intellimouse pro to be a little too big & unwieldy, and I've got 20x10cm hands.
I just bought the same houseplant from Bunnings a few days ago. The purple underneath is real cute :)
Love the vids keep it up! Also what is your favorite mouse?
Can we get a review of the Microsoft Wheel Optical 1.1a
My 1st gaming mouse was the Intelli 1.1 and will always be the best mouse i've ever used. After that came the Mx 500 from Logitech.
The Intellimouse is easily the greatest mouse of all time. It should never have been discontinued. I can't use anything else now!
Hey there. Love the effort u put in. Quick question : im a bit something between fingertip and palmgrip... the mouse i have played with : mx518 + zowie fk1 . And a small bit of playin on g403 and rival 300 and deathadder 2013. Zowie fk1 was too small kinda force me to claw grip which was not that comfortable... death adder is just too big . I still love my mx518 to death. Wanted to get a mouse now . Would u say : go for ec-1 or ec-2? Or even get another mx518?
I still use a Microsoft basic optical 2.0 form like 2005. I've tried several gaming mice but none feel as good as this old mouse. The shape and 400 dpi just feels perfect for gaming and desktop. Also only like 10 dollars now days and weighs like 50 grams. You should try it out. Its definitely a sleeper of a mouse. Would make a good video
Plz review the G wolves Hati next, keep up the good work
this mouse is so good, i love the weight as well, ~100g is ideal for me, i find with those ultra light mouse when i click the mouse i slightly move it more then i want to.
Can you review the Glorious model D when you get your hands on it?
That's the best shape for palm that ever was made many companies tried to copy it and failed ;)
Ec2 from zowie is quite good but the deathadders shape is inferior to the Intellimouse
Dragoe_Is_aWank if they made a wireless deathadder that is lighter and a little bit smaller just imagine 😍😍😍
Will you review Glorious model D which is coming out 14 of January?
Great one, Zy!
you should do a review on the gwolves' mice! I know you dont like review clones but you should
the most underrated mouse ...
@@n9ne I actually prefer this mouse over the Model O for example. The coating and shape makes you forget about the weight. The build quality is the best you can get. The Rolls Royce of mice.
Intellimouse...brings back memories. It was a narrower field then.
Awesome, i hope to get one soon, so i will give the IntelliMouse 3.0 to my retro battlestation
Do you sell any mouse that arent in use? I would like to buy an used G403 or maybe de wireless version
hey zy i need your help in choosing a mouse it is between the zowie ec2b and the fk2 i have a palm grip with 18.5cm hands and the tilt slam isnt a problem as i dont do that so i need your help to choose and i know there are better options now but in my country its a different story the glorius model o is very expensive and rare here and other mice such as the G403 are to
Aaaaw hell yeah im gonna get one and see how it performs. My hands are 21x11 so literally nothing on the market has fit me yet, currently running the Logitech G402 as it's the largest I could find....but this review just might save me
Will you be doing a Model D review when it comes out?
Friggin one week after I get one. Did you find that the scroll wheel has too little travel? I am coming from a G502 though. About the rattle, was yours low pitched? I can't seem to find where the rattle is coming from.
Update after 3 years of using this mouse: After like 2 years the scrollwheel is skipping (more like randomly tweaking in general) and the side rubber grip thingies melted and now are bubbly and gnarly. Other than that, it is a great mouse, great shape, great sensor. Cant say a bad word about it! Thanks for the review, it made me buy it!
I have an earlier intellimouse (not pro, only classic) at work and the rubber has degraded quite a bit. Any tips on how to smooth it out or remove it?
Can you review basic office mice for gaming because I know some people are stuck with them and I’m curious how much it holds them back.
Do a review on the new cable that is extremely light and thin. I think it’s called something like proton
Man I remember when the Intellimouse explorer was the mouse to get. I switch my whole office to these or just regular intellimouse. They were workhorses for cad work and gaming at the time. To bad every mouse I've had since then has been a disappointment in some way. Haven't had a mouse since that lasted as long as these did for instance.
I am still rocking the original msie 3.0 I bought probably about 8 years ago.
This is gold
Are there any palm grip mice for 21/11cm hands. Za-11/DA V.2 both didn't reach my palm
great sleeper mouse,i love it. the rgb diffuser can be lose inside,i removed mine.
Can you review the g-wolves hati?
insane mouse
When are you reviewing the G-wolves Hati?
When they get there shit together and can produce and maintain proper Quality. After three different purchases each all of them had fatal flaws.
when they reply lol
I loved my old intelli mouse. Had it for approx 15years, before I recycled it this december =) Now I have a g wolves skoll and a roccat aimo 202, but the skoll m1 button mechanism is too small for my hand, because I click at the very edge of m1 on the skoll.
Did you try the model D , when is it's review coming up?
İ love ur videos keep on the good work man ❤️❤️
I gave up my logitech g502 and now have my intellimouse for the last two years under full time use, really love it. would recommend if you can find one, seems impossible to find any these days.
Can you take a look at the lexip ceramic mouse feet and try it on your main mouse
Hi do you know about logitech m90 mouse ? or b100 the sensor is pretty good lol and its only 10$
Richtig geile Sache danke für dein Video
What about the rubber sides wearing out in 2 weeks?
Here before 10k!! Had to move quick to get here before that, especially how controversial this topic is 😳
Literally the mouse we used from school :D
That exact same one? Thats crazy
@easynamed how is that even possible? for me all exemplars of this mouse that I had the mouse wheel fucked up within 2 days
playing Quake with this mouse is so appropriate. :)
Can you do one for the old one?
Can you help me I use g403 before what mouse is better ec1a or ec1a? thanks
Can you turn off the LED at the back?
Had this mouse for almost 8 months, within the first couple months the latexy area around the thumb and scroll wheel wore away.
It wore in 14 days on mine around thumb. Very disappointed.
Back in the days I had to of them: the first one (silver) was from 2002 and the second one (gray or dark) was from 2007. What a legend...
Me too, also had wireless one with "leather" on top, shape was great.
Which one is better ( steelseries qck edge large vs Logitech g640 mouse pad), please help.
I had been considering getting one of these to replace my Basilisk, but seeing it has rubberised sides kinda puts me off. I have a allergy :\
Anyone remember the Microsoft optical blue? I want that one to be made with the updated sensors.
What mouse do you use rocket jump ninja?
They need to rework the mouse wheel and I ll totally commit to this mouse, but on csgo I jump with the wheel and I have a problem to jump+throw a nade...
cant wait for model D review
What game is that at the end? Quake III Arena?
Would it be accurate to say that the Deathadder V2, with the less flaring out on the right side of the mouse, is closer to the intellimouse shape than the previous versions?
No becuase the top of the deathader has a hard fall off on the right side
No, Deathadder isn't nearly as comfortable and isn't as well made. Get the Intellimouse Pro.
Intellimouse feels much larger and better in the hand. I have them both. More grippy sides and better mouse1 and mouse2 buttons with less drastic comfort grooves.
I usually palm a lot so I got the Intillimouse a while ago. I started having build quality issues after about 6 months. Loved the shape. Just does not seem to have the fit and finish of a anything else I have used. I found that the scroll wheel seemed to gum up easily. After about a year the plastic clip that held the mouse wheel broke. I don't do a lot of FPS gaming I am more simulation. Was comfortable. Now I am using a G502 Hero. My aim has gotten better for the little bit I do play FPS's. but the build quality on the G502 is much better. Can't comment on the EC1. Would love to try one because I enjoy large mice for my game style.
Still dreaming for an WMO 1.1 re-release!
Accelerated scrolling. Now that's a good feature. Xah Lee would like that. Only thing is, does it have built in memory so that it has that feature everywhere you use it?
yes
Can you review tecware impulse mouse
which games are these in the video??
Can someone tell me how to do what he does by chroma keying his mouse pad but not his mouse? If yo know how please tell me and thanks.
stuck on some hyperglides and its the perfect mouse for me
Been using it for over a month or two now. Best I've owned, love it.
I'm stickin with my g203. Ive been through so many moce teying to find one that fits my claw grip well. Best feel ive found so far is the corsair m65. But the one i have has a laser sensor. Not good enough. I like my deathadder but again, claw is most comfortable for me and its a bit of a bigger mouse. The g203 is a very familiar shape and feel, with a wonderful sensor and rgb if thats your thing. It has started exibiting some skipping lately though, but could just be my mousepad needing to be cleaned. Skipping is why i dont use the m65.
get an mm710 lol
i think when I first played delta force back in the day I used the OG intellimouse
ITS BACK
I didn't know they remade this mouse
What in CS1.6 tarnation is this
Is the scroll wheel stiff on your mouse?
I have still old one, it was really epic mouse in Quake III times :) Today is still playable, but Razer Deathadder is my favourite :) PS: do you know Open Arena? U will like it, special modes Rat and Nmode.
