I was at the Nadal Tsitsipas match. It was the final of the Rogers Cup, an ATP 1000 tourney, so a pretty big match and certainly Tsitsipas had never reached a final of that caliber before. The video undersells how loud the person yelled during Tsitsipas' serve. It was super distracting and I totally understand why he was so upset. Great sportsmanship by Nadal.

@MUFC Lmao get a load of this guy. I'm not even american but your rant sounds ludicrous at best. Grow up mate.
@MUFC Please shut up you're embarrassing yourself.
I hate when umpires don't know the rules properly, it was a clear hindrance from the crowd and should have been called as a let, thank god Rafa did that prick's job for him and gave him a first serve.
(prepares his second serve) -Roger, no one called out.. -It's out BADASS

Federe has eagle´s eyes. When he correct empires, he was always right.
W.A.P. Bodie if you make a serve, you know if it’s in or not. Just a question of honesty
W.A.P. Bodie Not really tbh I play tennis (I’m not a pro just for fun) but you can tell when a serve is in or not believe me. It’s like in football when you know if the balk has crossed the line as a keeper
MUFC I’ll wait for someone to fact check this. Some of them true, but definitely not all of them.
"The line judge who has just let out an earth shattering sneeze" 😂
CR2477 lmao the commentator he’s damn funny😂
I was literally scrolling through the comments and he said that as I seen your comment
Wawrinka showed the most sportmanship against mannarino, he actually won the point no matter what and he stil replayed it
Yes. Also againist kachanov too
yes, I think Mannarino should have just conceded the point even though the umpire called it wrong. Wawrinka played it as a legit hit anyway.
@@SquidDesign yeah, and Mannarino could've never reached the next ball anyways even without any call.
Generosity - not sportsmanship, kid.
O dont see how that's sportsmanship, if you obviously won the point you dont have to give it away
The most sportmanship was Wawrinka against Mannarino because he was losing 2-4 and definitely won that point.
Kris43 technically didn’t win the point as the call was made before the winner. Although nice sportsman ship
@@q0056 he meant that even if it wasn't double bounce Stan woulda won the point
@@q0056Manarino had no chance of winning the point after that bad call. So he gave up a point that was his.
António Sá Gomes that’s irrelevant. In the rules of the game if the call is made prior to the final shot then the point should be replayed. The umpire made more than 1 error in this point
@@q0056 bro he's not arguing with you he knows, he's just saying Stan is a great guy for doing for reversing a bad call even to the extent of losing a point that was clearly his

Yes, he is the worst sportsmanship.
1:23 good to see benedict cumberbatch in his early umpiring days
10:06 "that's woken the crowd up" *literally no one on the stands"
I thought the same thing lol
Stan the gentleman
Maximum respect for Wawrinka. He asked to replay a point he would win regardless of the umpire mistake.
6:30 that edit though. Oof, Federer pre serve into another! Lovely.
Credit to Haase as well cause he could´ve easily given up but decided to finish the match because he knew that was the match that made Federer number 1 again.
Tennis is one of the only sports in the world where the refs don't have absolute control.
Seriously all those ATP players are just nice lads. They are honest, fair and true gentlemen. This is what competition should be. This is why we love tennis. By the way Stan is such a top dude!!!
not all of them sadly (karen khachalow lied in this clip about the call)
@@IAMSOUND99 I disagree. I thought he was pretty close to the ball.
@@Andyyu24 oh my, you guys are joking right? how is that relevant? of course he was close and could easily hit it back but he thought the ball was out and let it go (way before the line judge said "out"). the rule in this situation is to give the point to Wawrinka but Karen lied by saying the line judge called it out before he could make a decision (to hit or let the ball go) and Stan believed him. The fact that he was close to the ball is irrelevant, it's about the line judge call timing here.
@@IAMSOUND99He was close and he could have hit the ball. You may be right about the timing of the call but it happened very fast and if you play tennis, you should know this kind of mistake could happen and it could have been just an honest mistake. Give players the benefit of doubts and I don't like calling him a liar or dishonest person just coz of that. I respect your opinion but it's just yours. Respect mine and cheer for Stan!!!!
@@Andyyu24 Yeah yeah i respect your opinion but this isn't a matter of opinion here, you can rewatch the vid the call clearly came after Karen gave away the ball already, it's a fact. the thing is it's a very common thing for pro tennis players with poor sportsmanship to lie on "when they heard the call" because it totally changes the point outcome: if the call is before the player is able to hit the ball the point is replayed for them and not lost, so they abuse it (cf. Novak vs Tsonga: Djokovic throws a tantrum at the umpire for losing the point when the replay clearly shows the call was late and the umpire made a good decision)
Wawrinka was too nice with Khachanov here. The call was clearly after the ball passed him. Not very honest here mister Khachanov ... But Stan won that match so justice prevailed :)
100%
Always hit the ball, if it was out, then the hit will be nullified anyways... Khachanov took the easy way out there.
yes, good sportsmanship by Stan, not so great by Khacnanov. He sort of let it go "hoping" for the out call and then it just did not pan out that way.
I think Khachanov definitely could’ve hit the ball but thought it was out. He would’ve been on his back foot and it may not have been the best return but he clearly seems within reach. The one where Stan replayed the point against Mannarino I thought was being way too nice. No way in hell Mannarino gets to that second ball
@@SJ-di5zu true that. Khachanov however blamed the outing to not hit the ball. Instead of just making sure he gets the point, he tries getting the point after a line judge failure. Mannarino in no way would have claimed the point, knowing sure and well Wawrinka beat his shot fair and square, he was just momentarily lapsed out on the wrong call. That makes it different to me, Mannarino went after the call, Khachanov after the point he himself lost.
Thats why tennis is a phenomenal sport . And swiss players are really unique .
Nole is so fair-play ,it's so good and relaxing seeing him,he always gives credit to his opponents. He's the best out of the three in this aspect
I think he's a little "too good" about it... he concedes points to his rivals, even when some balls are CLEARLY out/in the court... he's even kinda goof at this, to some extent (not calling balls in the eagle-eye)...
@@natoskull2 Yeah agree with this. Sure he's a good sportsman but sometimes it's a bit like oh look at me everyone I'm being so good. Doesn't always seem genuine.

It's not about being right, it's about good sportsmanship! Being a gentleman shows class. Hats off to those gentlemen of tennis!
3:40 Stan Wawrinka Shows unbelievable sportsmanship here. Mannarino clearly would have lost the point from this position as he was already outside the doubles lines. Wawrinka is down a break, clearly has this point in a winning position but still allows the point to be replayed.
Nikminnit I would’ve argued for hours if someone wanted that one replayed lol Stan’s the most sportsmanlike player i’ve ever seen

THIS is one of the many reasons why this sport is the greatest in the world!!
STAN the MAN. He can concede the point even if someone just asks for it.
Such moments only happen in Tennis! Beautiful to watch!
Amazing that simple fair-play and honesty should be deemed 'sportsmanship' in this day and age.
Can't tell if you're being sarcastic or not lol, but that is the literal definition of sportsmanship.
@@danielpotts1172 I wasn't being sarcastic. But I looked up the definition and you are correct. Somehow I always assumed that sportsmanship is when you go beyond the pale of simple rules and fairness, to make a rare generous gesture, when it is not strictly required according to the rules. For example, replaying a point because you know your opponent wasn't ready, even though you don't have to. To my mind there should be nothing extraordinary in simply following the rules honestly, which are obviously there to ensure fairness. So 'sportsmanship' according to this definition, should not be extraordinary or rare at all, but simply the order of the day. However, it seems that today this is far from being the case, and is something to be remarked on when it happens...? That was my point.
@@cscoetzee Not sure how Daniel thought you might be being sarcastic either, when you clearly weren't. I agree with you as well that it's nuts that simple fair play is pointed out as sportsmanship. It must be because in this day and age this seldom happens
Gotta love Goffins attitude
