If you watch it in slow mo, you can clearly see that Konecny is lined up with his numbers starting at the faceoff circle, all the way up to the hit. The turn didn’t change his perspective whatsoever. He takes 2-3 strides and a full glide with the numbers in full view

One of the most basic fundamental skills taught by good coaches in minor hockey is never putting yourself in that position on the boards. Unfortunately there are coaches that teach kids to make this move to draw a penalty. What they don't tell the kids is how many kids end up in the hospital.
