They truly nailed that interior. The 3008 is a 6+ year old model now, and it still looks fresh and cool. Look at Peugeot's current line-up of models, and compare it to 10 years ago. Crazy how far they've come.
It’s not that old
@Starifyy1 This shape of 3008 is from 2017 so yes its design is 6+ years old
@@Starifyy1 It really is and it probably shows how good the design is. 😉
Even the 1st gen 3008 had a cool interior, with that wrap around cockpit and some great features (including, as Matt said a few times, that split folding tailgate!), even if the exterior styling missed the mark and dated quickly. I had one as a rental for a week and loved it, even though it had the horrible EGC "auto" (but really an electronically controlled manual) gearbox. I got used to that 'box after a day or two, but it would have put me off buying one. So glad they dropped that EGC for the EAT6 and then the EAT8 (both made by Aisin, both very good). I very nearly bought a 2nd gen 3008 last year and I doubt I'd have regretted it if I had - they're just very good cars overall and they have the kind of interior and exterior styling that is, in my opinion, pretty much unmatched in this price bracket.
As a Peugeot owner, I always wince a bit before watching videos like this. 🤣🤣🤣🤣
VIVE LA FRANCE !! ALL NUMBERS 3008 ECT I DONT THINK THEY COULD NAME A CAR IF THEY TRIED . MAYBE ITS A REVENGE THING 😮
Why would you get a Peugout?
You should drive it's sister brand DS... It's luxury wincing
Great value cars. I have one (407 coupe) for 4 years and it was both a bargain and great car (for what it was!l
Especially as it’s Matt doing the review!! French car hater. Especially Peugeot
I drove it for a week and i can say that i was addicted with that steering wheel.Everything else after driving 3008,i thought it was "old".Its like a new playstasion game. They did a very good job, mostly phsycological with that.
mythos im isn't it strange how people differ! I absolutely detest the small wheel! It's my Dads car, so I don't drive it often. And he absolutely loves it!!
Same, i use a 208 for work and i love it everyday more!
The small steering wheel and viewing the instruments over the top has now been a feature of Peugeots for years and millions have been sold, so people like it.
David Perry sure people like it & fair play, no problem at all. But I'm sure that there's a lot that don't!
You were born to review cars Matt. Your delivery style is great. Cover all the important points and straight to the point. Keep up the great work.
Thanks
Tell you what Matt, we’ve got 2 at work at the moment and I was massively shocked and impressed. High mileage too over 100k and drive and sound superb. Really impressed with the interior.
So happy you did this review, this is the exact car (make, model and year) we were looking at buying from our local Peugeot dealer 🙂👍
Hello matt!! Well done on 300,00 thousand subscribers. As one of your long term viewers ive been on this journey with you. Crazy to ssee how far we have come. Nice video matt!
Should get a new 508 (ideally the SW) on Matt, fantastic cars and incredibly good value used.
He's done one
@@michaelyounes29 not the new shape
Thanks for this review Matt, very honest and helpful. I am scouring the market at the moment and prices have outpaced value, so I came across the 3008 and couldn’t believe how much car you could get for not-crazy prices. Then I saw your review so I am now seriously considering this car as 1.6 GT model.
I own a 3008 2.0 GT 180 (not a GT line) and I love this car. Bought secondhand loaded with stuff like Focal audio, double-glazed windows, and Alcantara seats. Even the weird scent selector :D For the same price, I would have only the basic Tiguan or last-gen CX5 so I'm super happy.
Another great and honest review Matt. I had a 2017, GT Line with pano roof in Sunset Cooper…or Brown (according to Revenue). The small steering wheel was so easy to get used to, and I would frequently change the iCockpit display, just for variety. It was the diesel, BlueHDi version. No DPF to clog, but it was important to add AdBlue whenever it sought it. The reversing camera was glitchy initially, but that was sorted by a softwear update. Was actually a very reliable car. It replaced a MINI Countryman (last in a line of MINIs). It was a shock how I didn’t need to spend multiples of the base price to get a well equipped car!!!
Such a brilliant review! No bull and honest ... Thank you for your genuine comments regarding the fabulous Peugeot 3008 2018 model. I am purchasing the Peugeot 3008 Allure 2019 1.6 Petrol here in Australia this week as a very good used car sensible and always serviced at Peugeot dealership and always garaged too. Thanks Matt and I have even just subscribed to your channel.
The first Peugeot that I ever drove was back in the sixties, a 204 with a column gear change. This was far superior to the similar gear change offered in various Austin/Morris cars and vans. The strangest gear shift was in the NSU RO80, a pressure sensitive micro switch in the gear knob disconnected the drive to let you change gear, but that rotary engine was so unbelievably smooth.
Good review as always. I particularly liked your 3008 review because I’m thinking of getting one on the mobility scheme. Cheers Matt.
A superb car, and I'm sure Peugeot will up the game further with the new generation 3008 this year. If you ever get the chance it would be great to see you test drive the the latest 208
Yes, the interior teaser looks stunning!
Love the road marking saying Peugeot 3008! Amazing editing🎉 Keep it up
Yes, a great touch.
Thanks for this video. Like you, i have been sceptical about French cars for a long time so this video has prompted me to open my mind a little. Love the comment on the 50p steering wheel!
Well done Matt on reaching 300k subscribers. You deserve it !!!
I switched my Mercedes 2.2 diesel estate for a 3008 1.5 diesel 4 years ago and I love it. The Peugeot 1.5 turbo diesel engine paired with the 8 speed Aisin/Toyota/Lexus automatic transmission is a delight. As to reliability - not a single problem.
Hi Matt good review looks impressive inside as you said steering wheel looks small for the rest of the car 10/10
I had the 3008 gt line in 2017 through to 2020 and it was a great car, modern, stylish and comfortable. 2020 I ordered the second generation 3008 gt and it got better, bit of a face lift, larger infotainment screen. Cant fault them although I am getting rid and picking up A nice x260 jaguar 3lt xf s tomorrow, I'm a big jag fan and it's time to go back 😀👌
A quick tip; avoid the 1.2 puretech at all costs. The timing belt runs through oil which accelerates wear. This can clog the oil filter and leave you stranded, also possibly with no brakes if you're unlucky. This can happen on cars with as low as 20k miles.
This happened to my father’s car like a year ago. Luckily it got service and no accidents happened.
That’s the same main fault as the early 1.0 Ford Ecoboom engine wasn’t it? I’m surprised they didn’t learn from that as the ecoboost engine came long before this!
Issue was largely fixed and there are a lot of engines that use wet belts now, I wouldn't hesitate buying one now, a bit more involving to replace than a traditional dry belt but nowhere near as bad as an Ford ecoboost.. The one you need to really avoid is the VAG 2.0 TDi, some of those have a rubber oil pump belt, no service intervals, at some point it will either break or clog up the oil filter, you can't check it, it doesn't get replaced and if you wanted to do it, be prepared for a very large bill as it's a nightmare to do.
I was just going to say that, unfortunately they got rid of the 1.6 petrol now, i Think you can still get it in a hybrid form.
@@khalidacosta7133the belt issue was addressed numerous times. Sadly it's still a problem.
Real world review for real world people. You hit the spot again Matt. Hot presenter, hot info, hot channel. We cannot ask for more :)
Congrats on 300k. Well done you!!
I was a passenger in one of these recently a diesel with 150k on it. It was so smooth and quiet and as you say the interior is incredible quality. The EAT8is the same gear as in Toyotas and is Japanese and a proper torque converter not dct or computer controlled.
yes, Japanese Aisin gearbox
I watch these when I want to go to sleep it a great voice you have that achieves that thanks
Congratulations Matt 300,000 followers, very well deserved 🎉 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻😎🍾🥂
I must admit that when I was driving back from Spain recently through France I was thinking just how smart the current gen of Peugeot look. Especially the black plastic round the reg plate. Looks even bettter with a French plate on imo. Great review!
The seats in the back, I found we’re really uncomfortable and after just over an hour my back was in bits. I’m 6”2 and found my legs had no support.
I said I would never get a Peugeot...but I ended up with a Pug 208 Tech edition with a wee 1.2 turbo pumping out 110 bhp .....actually very nippy, smooth and all over pretty good....even has auto parking, love sitting back watching the steering wheel work on its own
I’ve always had a soft spot for Peugeots. My 205 back in the day was a wonderful little runabout.
We have a 2019 5008 same engine and auto box as video GT line Premium, essentially same car with longer boot, only issue the pano sunroof which opens leaked badly, had the whole pano roof replaced under warranty. We love the car and like the 50p steering wheel! Came from a Honda CRV and haven’t been disappointed.
Great to see 300,000 subscribers! And counting!! Well deserved…
We bought an ex demo 4 yrs ago, use it everyday and love it, best car I’ve owned.
No interest in buying one, but it's still interesting to know what Peugeot are up to these days. Your videos have a sensible format whether in the market for one or just mildly curious.
The Grip Control is an optional extra, had it on my first 3008 (the first one out of my local dealers show room), a 150 manual GT Line 2ltr HDI, and it is really good, you need the right tyres on there, so replacing the ones on there with summer tyres really would be shooting yourself in the foot. Sold that 3008 for a GT 180 HDI 3008, lovely car, fully loaded and saved quite a lot from the dealer on it 😊 No grip control on this one but it had pretty much everything else, including the auto box. Sold that and ended up with a hybrid4, lovely car, only had it 10 months, small fuel tank didn't help with the odd long run and the battery range wasn't great in real world driving, it didn't suit my driving but would be great for someone doing more town or shorter distance motorway driving.
I've never been interested in owning a French car but having owned a couple of Saab's I do like quirky. If I was half my age with young kids I would give this car some serious thought. Nice styling inside and out. Good job, Peugeot.
Great car. I had a GT Line Premium as a company car, I loved it and I do miss it. Peugeot are making some fantastic looking cars
I hired one in Spain for a couple of weeks and loved it, cracking car. If I were looking to replace my 508sw this would be the one.
300k congratulations Matt! I've subbed since 30k ❤️
Thanks
I have admired the 3008 for a while. Glad you think its good too, I quite like the quirky steering wheel.
Excellent stuff as per Matt 👌
Just bought a 2 year old Volkswagen T Cross...love it so far
I have a 2022 225bhp Hybrid. Cant beat them. Brilliant cars. Highly recommended to all.
Peugeot hired 2 members from Audi a few years ago. A designer and an engineer. They basically told the firm to change the electrical wiring to create reliability and paid more money for better quality materials. The designer had cart blanch to create something and so far, it's been improving more and more.
Great video again, just one point may help you sell, the AGC is non standard, it is a rare option, i tried for weeks to find even one that had it, the Sheffield dealers all said there were few 3008s out there with it. You may want to push this point. Lovely car and great video!
You're right ... my neighbour bought the early 3008 PURELY for the split tailgate versatility ... he's still got it 8 years later and dreading when he parts company.
What a lovely looking car. I too see plenty of them over here on the correct side of the Pennines aand I guess they are popular for a reason. They are both stylish inside and out, reasonably frugal and pleasant to drive. Win win all round. Thanks for a great review.
I've just got back from a week in France and I think this is the most popular car in France at the moment, they were everywhere, so they can't be bad.
& if you went there in the 1970s there would be 2CV's everywhere I expect.
@@F4Insight-uq6nt and they were bad...
@@jdmguy44 It all depends on what you want from a car I would think.
Cingrats for 300k sub❤❤
I made a testdrive with the Peugeot 3008 and a Toyota C-HR. I ended up with the Toyota for his quallity and looks, no regrets at all.
300k subs congrats 🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉
Rented one in Ireland and loved it!
I agree with you on the manuals on Peugeot and high clutches, I can remember test driving a year old 2008 with 6,000 miles. I thought the clutch was on its way out. I asked the salesman about about it and said all Peugeots are the same.
Great informative video matt
The previous version although not as good looking was a a really nice driver. Nearly bought one except it had a towbar on it so I passed .... might go forvthebnew version though. Great review fella 👍
We have a new style 2008 which is very similar to the 3008. Nearly 3 years old now and nothing gone wrong. Very good car.
My granny drives one and she LOVES the steering wheel. It’s a 2017 model but she bought it in mid 2018. She use to drive a Land Rover freelander 2000 and the steering wheel compared to that is like a dream and to be honest if you ask me there is no better steering wheel.
Just a heads up; you can actualy control a lot of the apps via the 'speech' button on the small steering wheel, as well as the right roll pad once in an app. Very similar interior & controls to my own '20 208. If that steering wheel was large you'd not be able to see the dials, hence why it's that odd shape & size. Yet another great road test though. About the high Peugeot clutch on manuals, my old '62 308 had one of those, hence why I opted for the EAT8 (silly name) auto too. lol. But it's silky smooth imho.
Its a decent car and doesnt rob you blind with badge being the only reason you'd buy . This and the 5008 have a style of a evoque with a mix of a lexus RX . Maybe a updated version would come with split taillift or one piece dependant on a button on remote .
One day we'll convert you to French cars! I currently have a 2022 Peugeot 208 (having never ever previously thought I would be a Peugeot driver) and it's brilliant. Everyone who has been in it has been seriously impressed and can't believe it's a Peugeot!
We have a Peugeot 208 GT Line as a company pool car and it’s a brilliant drive apart from the small steering wheel and it feels like it’s in your lap.
Totally agree with your comment on the steering wheel.
Quite impressed with the car. Looks good outside and inside. 👍
Do this check yourself (I'm a long time subscriber) interestingly, in addition, note your comments at 5 minutes. You are spending more and more time with your eyes off the road lately (do the comparison yourself), you were careful in earlier videos but just take an honest hard look at this one, be careful my boy love your channel to bits, don't want to see you suffer.
can't wait for a 2019 onwards 308 review, have one myself, and going to do a review on it soon, be interesting to see if we have the same views 🙂
Totally agree with you a nice car and it looks comfortable too 😊
Nice video Matt 😊 love Peugeots
Well check out Matt with the fancy CGI effects at the beginning! You really sneaked that in, would be great to know how many people actually noticed your little effect, you can clearly see that you're getting the hang of this editing lark! 😂😂😂😂 I agree with you about the design of the newer French cars, Peugeot and Renault have some very nice looking cars.
I have had my 1.2 petrol now for 4 years. Car has been faultless apart from a worn seat bolster that was changed FOC despite the car being out of warranty. As for the 130bhp engine. This is the same output as a 2 litre car I once owned
I’ll give you a hug bro when you feel vulnerable
I am a huge fan of you, but always had to keep a bit quiet as I drive a 2020 5008, having had a Grand Picasso before, so was nervous watching this given your past opinions on French cars ... The interior is stunning, especially at night. I agree about the tailgate being not as good - you can also get rid of the rev counter by changing the mode of the display, you even get a Saab-style night mode (I used to have a 9-3). You do get used to the steering wheel. The seats took 20000 miles to give!!! The 5008 GT line gets the pan roof... I agree about the touchscreen, you have to time it when driving to use this safely. The auto gearbox is superb. The drive is really easy, and actually much more fun than a Skoda equivalent which has less fun steering, I had a Kodiaq on holiday recently. Great balanced review, you are beginning to see what French cars are about, it really has been the best family car for us, and looks so cool, we get lots of compliments, which we would not have got getting a Skoda or Seat..
The timing belt issue has been sorted now on the 1.2 engine.Regular oil change is very important on this engine.
I've had one for 2 years now and it's a manual, the clutch is perfect, not high at all.. Still getting compliments now.. White is the best colour...
just noticed you hit 300k subscribers, well deserved
Thanks!
Congrats on 300k! Won't say I've been here since day 1, but I was here from about 40k. Half a mil by Halloween?
You should review a mark 5 Ford Mondeo Vignale. It's by far the most car for the pound. The estate model is ridiculously roomy and looks excellent with its dual exhaust.
I just got the little brother the 2008 gt face-lift version in black love how comfy it is
Decent Cars. And an all new 3008 is coming this year and the interior they just leaked looks proper futuristic
Even the interior on this model looks really futuristic!
Great review my man !!!!!!
Much appreciated!
Yeah... With the weather we're getting these days...... the cactus setting sounds really useful.........
Great review. Seriously looking at getting one, current finance plan finishes on my Qashqai next month. Enjoyed time with that and again a lot of car for not mad price so the one thing I want from the 3008 is the panoramic sun roof and heated seats, which the Qashqai has and I don't want to be without now. what spec do I need to ensure I get those. Lots of reviews/versions and I can't quite grasp which version(s) I need to be looking at. Thanks.
I like the new 508 can’t wait for a review on that one
300K! So well deserved, fantastic, congratulations Matt. I was a subscriber well before you were at 100k,I won’t be going anywhere.
From about 2014 on Peugeot have really come good after a lean period of about 14yrs. I have a 2017 308 GT Line SW and it's been totally reliable, comfortable and good build quality, certainly better than the last BMW 3 series I owned. I think the diesel's are still a good buy 2nd hand and Peugeot have for along time built the best diesel engines. Mine's got the 150bhp diesel and the torque for overtaking is brilliant. I like the little steering wheel but the instruments took a bit of getting used too but after 2yrs driving anything else it driving a HGV!!!
The lean period finished well before 2014. Late 90's to early 2000's was when quality control was not brilliant.
Nice graphics on 15 seconds; having the make of the car on the road.
Peugots do look pretty gppd these days - a vast improvement from their offerings ten years ago. Overall a really positive review and there seems a lot to like about the 3008.
A colleague had one as a company car, the biggest annoyance with this car being is sat in the passenger seat; the floating dash really digs into your right leg
You should try and get hold of a new 308. Brilliant piece of kit that.
Matt your wrong about the 1.2 three cylinder engine, Iv got the 1.2 GT spec face lift 3008 and its brilliant great on performance and fuel you need to test on you will be surprised
You're not wrong about biting point of the clutch Matt. My Dad has a 15 plate & my knee is nearly hitting the roof before she catches. Also the wheel is ridiculously small, and I detest the binnacle above the wheel. Just fecking weird! Apart from that it's grand & my Dad lo es it!!
The eat6 or eat8 is made by asin, owned by Toyota, the diesel 1.6 or 1.5 are great as well as this engine you use. The 1.5 replaced the 1.6 which is based on that engine. Good review, I feel Peugeot have good cars in the 3008 and 5008.
Hi Matt, love your videos. Unfortunately I have one of your least favourite cars, C4 Picasso. As you often advise to have engine and gear box serviced could you let me know where you get yours done? I live in Reddish so I guess it would be convenient for me also. Thanks in advance.
You're wrong pal as They started doing Mk2 3008 in 2017 when it becomes European car of the year 2017. I had 3008 on my holiday for 3 weeks and it was such a nice drive! 2l HDI GT model I had. Really nice car
Wife misses the split tailgate on her 2007 Mitsubishi Outlander. It was a handy feature.
Hi Matt. That stitching really reminds me of the Toyota Rav4 interior. Talking of the Rav4. It's interesting how you have never reviewed one. They are incredibly popular both in the USA and here in Israel. Honestly, you see loads on the road. I don't suppose they are that popular in the UK.
I have the 2019 RAV4, best car I ever had ❤
Here in the UK I have a 2013 Rav4 icon Auto, and i love it, there are plenty of them on the roads, but as with most Toyotas here they are seen as a boring, and uninteresting car, I have driven used Toyota cars for many years, and I have never had a mechanical problem with any of them, just an occasional new battery, and in a couple of them new brake pads and discs, and some tires, other than that, nothing. Love them to bits.
@@daneelolivaw602 I live in Israel but have been renting out a Rav4 Hybrid in the UK every year since 2018, to travel from London and drive around Scotland visiting whisky distilleries in the winter weather. For the price, it's the only car I trust to get me up and down those steep icy roads to and from remote distilleries and eats up the miles on the A74(M), M6 / A1(M) to and from London. The huge boot space is perfect for week long trips. I loved the car so much that I bought one here in Israel last year.
You hit the nail on the head. I’m not interested in how a car feels when it’s been thrashed round the Nurburgring. That’s why I like your reviews. I’m interested in how a car drives for everyday use and that’s exactly what you do and it’s impartial. Keep it up
Just bought one of these, mostly pleased although finding seats uncomfortable, hoping if get a cushion coer will improve
I was loaned one of these after my Peugeot 5008 was written off after an accident. Have to say, although initially it was pretty cool, I didn’t love it. Maybe I was just used to the more spacious 5008. I do think Peugeots in general though are rather good cars
I found this very handy as I have been looking at these for my next car, I too am not a huge fan of the French cars - all style and no substance. But this seems to be different, will I move from my 2017 Skoda Superb est @£20 road fund & an easy 50+mpg around town - we will have to see.
The clutch joke was spot on 😂😂
