For the past 3 months I've gone French - I've been living with a Peugeot 3008 GT - and it's genuinely surprised and impressed me. Would I have one over a VW Tiguan? Find out as I take it back to pick up my next car. I chat about the pros and cons of the Peugeot - everything that's annoyed and impressed me over the past 3 months and 4,500 miles.
00:00 Soggy intro
01:00 How long I've had it / what I've done in it
01:51 Have I liked it? Standout feature!
02:40 How much does it cost?
03:33 Would I recommend the 1.5 diesel?
03:45 Is it economical? Real-world mpg
04:30 What's the EAT8 automatic gearbox like?
04:53 What's it like on long drives?
05:15 Infotainment pros and cons & Focal sound system
06:46 Is it sporty? NON. MAIS C'EST BON
07:45 Negatives: whinter whinges
10:04 Is the boot big enough?
10:50 But here's why I've loved it
12:12 One last whinge
12:21 Goodbye and thank you for all the croissants

  • Ive had 2 3008s over the last 5yrs. No problems at all and i had an extended warranty for peace of mine. All car brands have certain problems. Just get the Peugeot warranty and drive without any worries

  • I just traded my Toyota CHR Hybrid Sol with the Peugeot 3008 PHEV and I couldn't be any happier with my decision. The Peugeot is way more refined, classy, faster and even more fuel efficient. Plus I could drive around town in pure EV mode for 50 to 60kms. Best of both worlds indeed. Thanks for your review. It gave me some insight on what to expect and what not.

  • I have a 2018 model (bought in 2019) and I’ve been very happy with it. I’m living in a tropical climate so haven’t had to experience any inclement driving conditions (apart from some torrential rain and I haven’t had any need to use the heated seats!). The only problem I’ve had was a leak from the washer bottle which turned out to be a bad seal on the pump and replaced under warranty . I love the i-Cockpit and especially the small steering wheel, I’m 5’ 9” and viewing the instrument panel is not a problem.

  • Peugeot do make a nice looking car these days! After your ‘not a Passat but similar’ next car, you should angle for a 508 Estate. After a Superb estate and an Arteon, it’ll be a great comparison 🤓 Or perhaps a G80 M3 touring 😀

  • Great review, Tim. The 3008 certainly looks more stylish than a VW equivalent. By the sounds of what you said the overall refinement is reasonable.

  • I've had a 3008 GT Line 1.5 diesel on Motability since 2019 and frankly it's been the best car I've ever had - I extended the lease by two years. Luckily I've never had the issue with crud-covered mirrors and windows that you describe, Tim. Have put down advance payment for a Kia Sportage GT-LIne S for next year, which I think you also liked. I'll miss that neat little steering wheel that you look over, though.

  • Other whinges are: The glovebox is a slot. One of the internal boot handles is blanked off on lower trims. For me, the window switches are too far away, the steering wheel won’t come close enough. The EAT8 gearbox is very jerky in traffic. Lets face it, the Tiguan wouldn’t come with these sorts of issues. Never driven a French car before, I can understand where their ‘reputation’ comes from now. Also, I’m really glad the car is on a 2 year lease having read about the wetbelt blowing up in low mileage 1.2 Puretech petrol engines. Should say I only drove German and Japanese cars before (BMW, VW, Honda) and non of them had these basic ergonomic foibles nor ticking time bomb engines.

  • Yes. My Peugeot is excellent. No complaints at all. Is my second. Will soon be trying a 508 just for a change. Can't see any reason to change brand. It is nice not being part of the German or Korean sector - though Id choose Korean first as they seem to avoid having too many idiots driving them. Allez!

  • I live in Australia and own a 2012 Peugeit 308 HDi (2L diesel). Great car. I cannot understand why they don't use the 2L diesel in the 3008. Heaps of power and economical. Mechanics here indicate it is the best of the Peugeot engines (by a long way). Thanks for the review.

    • No it hasn’t. Just been told my 2019 3008 petrol 1.2 PureTech engine needs replacing because the wet belt has deteriorated - thank goodness I took out a 2 year extended warranty for it as it’s not costing me anything. Only done 28000 miles but I don’t know if it was ever recalled (before I bought it in May 2023) or if this is the original belt. I’ll be insisting it is changed at every annual service even if they is at my expense.

  • Hi also love the interior/exterior of the 3008, question though, there was no MENTION or use of the PADDLE SHIFTERS in the video, your thoughts on the SPORTS PERFORMANCE & EASE OF USE of these: Paddle Gears: Q1. Simple as selecting M (Manual in front of Eat8)? Presumably as many GEARS as the Auto ie, EAT6 or EAT8, right. Obviously/of course: LEFT PADDLE = GEAR DOWN REAR PADDLE = GEAR UP Q2. GEAR INDICATOR on the iCOCKPIT? Q3. GEAR UP INDICATOR on the iCOCKPIT ? This was available on earlier models of the 3008. CHEERS

  • Big mistake for me was buying 4x4 top range all extras shade under 50k.1 year 4 months later and I need to sell the car as I am unable to drive do to neck problems. Best prices offered round about 30k car only covered 10k. That's a 20k loss in just over a year, it's a good job the car wasn't on finance.

    @robincurston7086@robincurston7086 Жыл бұрын
    • Lol, I got a car on finance specifically for this reason. With a lease, it fixes your liabilities to your monthly payments. Give them the car back at the end. The depreciation is their problem. I got a ‘deal’ on my 3008, I don’t think the monthly payments will cover the depreciation so Peugeot decided to make a loss on this car.

  • What is the reliability of a Peugeot compared to VW/Japanese/American/Korean makes?

    @anderacpharmd@anderacpharmd8 ай бұрын
    • You can google this. I have been driving PSA (Citroen and Peugeot) products since the late 70s. I keep buying them despite others telling me that Toyotas' are more reliable. I place comfort, driving dymanics and safety first, these 3 areas I think the Cits and Pugs are better than most cars in the same class. In my country sometimes certain spares are hard to come by and has to be ordered from abroad, this is my only concern. I do have a spare car though.

  • How you got such a rare extra ,a beloved " sunroof" as the roof lining is always BLACK since 2017 unless you buy a active or allure spec , LOL. , (don't drop anything grey or black down inside from October till June) . OLD shape gt premium plus model since 2 019 had inclusive pan roof. Went down to your shop about July , the sales looked over complete company , sunroof from 2021 ( new shape) , NAH , sorry . 7 weeks on still haven't found one in cummalus grey. Ps the better spec 3008 RRP new is quite pricey and has now entered Audi Q3 territory. The q3 diesal is nearly 2 secs quicker to 60 mph . Just sayin.
