Peugeot 3008 2017 SUV review | Mat Watson Reviews

Peugeot have just revealed the brand new 3008! This new model looks to power into the SUV market and establish itself as a class leader, in a similar fashion to the Nissan Qashqai or Volskwagen Tiguan. Peugeot seems to have taken onboard a lot of the customer criticism of the previous model, and now on board Peugeot have fixed annoying design issues, such as the steering wheel blocking the view of the dials. More importantly however, Peugeot have emphasised the 3008’s connection to its little hatchback brother, the 308 via the choice of engines which prioritise fuel economy. But, what about practicality, and model design? Will this SUV turn heads on the school run? Will it be the class leader Peugeot hope? Find out what I really thought of the brand new 3008 now!

  • High praise for Peugeot if Matt gives his approval stamp. This is the first time I see Matt giving such a positive feedback on a Peugeot.

    • Mat was positive when reviewing 508... Went to dealership, had a test drive... bought it and never regretted it... So I am guessing similar will happen with 5008... Or new 508 when it comes out...

  • Great and objective review.I'm getting tired of the clichés about the reliability of the German cars. Most of the German auto manufacturers have more and more issues with their productions, when it is not fake specs..And furthermore it is easy for them to built nice cars with such overpriced tags....If they were trying to be as competitives as their French counterparts, their cars would not last more than 6 months on the road.I would add that most of the Germans cars are just rip off, and on top of it, you need to spend a huge amount of money in options to get a decently equipped configuration.On the Audi Q2, even with the premium configuration you need to pay in order to have the auto AC... shame, Das Rip-off

  • As a Frenchman, I'm happy to see that both Peugeot & Renault are now going the right way. As a salesrep, driving around 100.000Km/year and testing all brands, I can say French OEMs don't have to hid themselves before German competitors I drove 2 508SW ,each 180.000KM: first one had only a small problem with the semi-automatic gearbox (oil leck), the second one nothing at all. Before a drove a BMW 318d Kombi, with plenty of problems and corrosion after 2 years... Now driving new Passat for 120.000Km - GPS& Radio is a joke, really shit. Oil consumption (120Tdi): 4 liters oil each 7000Km (Peugeot: zéro oil) Ordered new car: new Audi A4; would have gone for Renault Talisman, but my company HQ is in Germany...

After driving Volkswagen for years and reluctantly changing after they started to become even more dull and very unreliable I bought a 308 imm on my second now and would NEVER look back. Absolutely love it over 190,000kmls and not a single niggle yet car is still brand new to look at and drive. No problems recommending them to anyone!

Volkswagen or Audi are known for long term quality when it comes to interiour. Guess why their resale value is that great. Peugeot has to prove their newer models can keep up with this. Especially when it comes to quality of the leather they use.

The leather becomes cheap looking and all those rubbery bits start to peel off and retain a lot of scuff marks. VW and Audi only care about INITIAL PERCEIVED quality and after that it all goes to rubbish.

We go camping atleast twice a year as a family & have a small camping fridge so would plug the fridge in to cart the perishables (milk, bacon etc) to the campsite which could be a 4 hour drive away.

  • Peugeot isn't a premium brand? I always thought the market placement of French brands was, low to high, Renault -> post-C6 Citroën -> Peugeot -> DS ? The one you're testing actually seems nicer than any Audi below the A6.

    @seankurth4371@seankurth43717 жыл бұрын
    • Peugeot is a mainstream brand and has always been so, however with their recent models and especially this 3008 they're trying to position themselves as high-end mainstream / quasi-premium (however you want to call it) on par with VW. I wouldn't put Renault below Citroën, some Renault models (Talisman, Espace) are higher-end than anything Citroën offers. Both are definitely in the mainstream of the mainstream though.

    • Have to agree there, I've got an Audi Q3 and this looks just as well or better built. Certainly far more modern.

      @adamperkins3125@adamperkins31257 жыл бұрын
    • Kookanoodles Citroën used to have premium offerings (DS, SM, C5, C6) that put them above Peugeot and Renault in hierarchy. For me personally Talisman wouldn't stand a chance against a C6. But now Citroën seems to be downgraded by PSA, to avoid overlappings with Peugeot which seems to be positioned as more upmarket now and DS as the premium brand. Too bad, because Citroën has always been my preferred French car brand above any other French car brands! But now this Peugeot 3008 has easily become my new favorite French car while Citroën still seems to be stuck on low-cost image generated by C3, C4 Cactus or C-Élysée (why naming a low-cost car with such prestige name???). I blame Groupe PSA for this new hierarchy!

  • Great review, Mat. Checked one out on CarWow and my local dealership is providing me with a good deal. I'm about to order the Allure 1.2 petrol auto version, as it's performance around town and on a dual carriageway impressed me. It's all I need for my mainly shortish m/way trips. The iCockpit is stunning and the instruments are so high up I will not miss the head up display on my BMW. Build quality appears to be really good.

  • test drove a 1.2t allure at the weekend. was amazed at how responsive the engine was in town and on the dual carriageway. dealership had a few different colours on show too and tbh the colour in this video is probably the worst to show it in. looked stunning in black and pearl white. a very impressive car tbh.

    • Its interior is far superior to the Mercedes C class; CLA, GLA which have an infotainment screen plopped on like it's an afterthought instead of integrated. It's truly incredible that Peugeot is the new king of mainstream to lower mid tier cars with these introductions.
