In today's video we are taking a look inside the Verizon 5G lab here in Los Angeles. We'll also go over what 5G is and how it is different than 4G. Many people know that 5G can have really fast download speeds, but don't realize just how much more we may actually be able to do with this. From VR Streaming to self driving cars, 5G can enable us to live in a much more technologically advanced world as it is built out in cities. Also, a possible video idea I had when you were using the Quest 2 was you trying the various VR exercise programs for a week (Beat Saber, FitXR, Boxing, etc) to see how you like it or not and if it's the future of personal home exercise.

  • In some countries people are toying with the idea of using 5G for traffic control, eg to use 5G to redirect people's sat navs away from certain roads if an ambulance needs to speed through

  • You didn't mention a single common, everyday use of this tech. All niche applications. We don't need it

    • It makes everyday use much faster. 5G will also provide internet to your home (which everybody needs) providing an alternative to traditional cable providers like Spectrum and Comcast, that have monopolies in cities like Los Angeles.

    • You will be surprised, there are places in America that don't have any cell service. Some of these places are less than three hours from Washington D.C. I once drove somewhere and didn't have service for 40 minutes. I drove 113 kmh the whole way too.

  • Oh, shoot. I didn't know they had a 5G Lab here in LA. That's so close to me! I loved using it with the Sony Xperia Pro and a DSLR for live streaming on an A7SIII for an event. It was soooo cool.

  • Possibly an unpopular opinion but I feel like 5G isn't that big of a step up from 4G LTE. I'd rather see Verizon, At&t, and TMobile spent the money increasing coverage and load capacity than trying to convince me to get a new phone for slightly faster download speeds in a small enclosed area.

  • They installed a 5G node next to my building last year, and a tenant printed out flyers saying 5G causes cancer (including a pic of a cancer patient). It was insane. She put the flyers on the pole, and in the building on the walls.

  • So the reasons why companies has invested in building a 5G network in urban areas is so that people can download an AR experience on the fly and potentially watch sport events on their VR headsets on the streets. I'm all for the 5G technology, but I don't understand why big companies has invested so much for "higher quality" AR and public VR experiences for the public

  • Great to see L.A is improving,now robotic surgery and driverless cars are now possible. 5g is crucial for the implementation to cover a big skills gap between need and available people, robotics can cover this gap in vital areas of life, transport and health care will transform by the time the Olympics is in L.A in '28❤️🇬🇧👍

  • I’ve worked in the telecoms industry and 5G nationwide isn’t true 5G as you’ve said in the video. 5G ultra wide will only ever be used in stadiums, airports, etc becuase the frequency doesn’t penetrate buildings and walls well. 5G ultra wide is very limited in its range. it’s also costly to implement and obviously a 5G phone is needed. Think of it like a super fast wifi that can go a bit further and handle more concurrent connections
