I really hate the way, a lot of insurances don't cover adult braces or Invisalign. Some people didn't have the luxury of getting them, when they were kids!
I recently got Invisalign and my insurance didn’t cover $1. It was so so expensive but so worth it.
I got Invisalign 9 months ago & my insurance covered $1,000 of it. I was so thankful because the majority of insurances do not cover adult orthodontics which is absurd. Yes, most people fix their teeth for cosmetic reasons, but crossbites, overbites, crowding, etc. can cause so many more issues down the road that the insurance would partially be paying for anyway in the end. I was supposed to get braces as a kid, but insurance wouldn't pay for all of it so my parents were on the hook for most of it. Growing up poor, that was just a pipe dream.
You’re so lucky to have the ability to get insurance for aligners! Mine are expensive but I’m excited to see the results x
Yea, my job’s insurance just made a change to include orthodontia to cover 50% up to $3000, so I was able to get it this year 💜
I have them right now and I'm thankful my insurance covered 70% my cost was still $3400. I hate the way my teeth hurts, and when I chew it sounds like Styrofoam rubbing against each other. Every new tray feels tight for the first few days. I recommend also to floss, floss, floss.my teeth are shifting and I can feel it. I can't wait to finish this process 🤕🥹😧😩 Update 03.13.23 I am on tray 12 of 14. I hated the journey but ooo I'm loving these results. I was told it would take about 18months but I was in shock when my ortho told me I had a couple treys left. The only thing I'm thinking now is that I paid thousands for a three month treatment🤔 My teeth hurts, I can wiggle the front ones after about two days of a new tray. My teeth adjustment feels weird when I chew too.
I’m an older Invisalign user. I got them at 50 years old. I do love the results. But the biggest part I didn’t know was how I would have to wear the retainers every night. If not I can feel my teeth moving in just 24 hours. And my teeth weren’t moved very far. I have pain when I wear them after skipping one night. I’m not kidding when I say to my husband “if anything ever happens to me please put my Invisalign in” because if I make it through any health crisis I still want my teeth to be good. Lol 😝
Did you get the permanent wires behind your teeth though?
Did you start out by only wearing the retainer at night? My dentist has told me you need to wear them full time (just like your aligners) for 6-12 months and then you can switch to only wearing them at night.
🤣🤣
My sister got regular braces and she still has to wear her Retainer everyday
Yes I did too
Im a registered dental hygienist & first of all, Invisalign is not for everyone. There are dentists who are not orthodontists and still offer Invisalign so the schooling of the dentist is that important to you?? (are they a specialist) You don’t want to move teeth too fast or you get root resorption. If you have crown, veneers, implants with no crown, you may have to be placed in a provisional if they have to put an attachment on that tooth. So expect to get another crown down which are approx 1,300+ depending where you go and live About every 6 weeks having appointments to get new aligners for the 6 weeks. If you have a lot of decay in your mouth and infection, need a cleaning, then your ortho will not put you in Invisalign until that’s taken care of first :) Also, some insurance do cover some cost of Invisalign especially if your case absolutely needs it, not to say it’s full coverage but some specialist orthodontists don’t even take insurance so you could have insurance but in your case you’re better off going with the ortho that doesn’t take it for the best results. BIG ONE: mouthwash is not anything like brushing your teeth. So please just brush your teeth or then I end up having you in my chair for a deep cleaning with local anesthetic involved 🙂 🪥 you must mechanically disrupt the biofilm that forms in your mouth and mouthwash can kill some bacteria but not the ones that can cause perio/decay -Your friendly neighborhood dental hygienist
wow those are some really good tips! Thank you!
There’s a chance of experiencing some root resorption, even without moving teeth too fast. But, moving them too fast does hasten root resorption.
Thanks!
Just started invisilign. Had braces before 6 years ago and it was BRUTAL. My teeth slipped back. Invisilign is literally NOTHING compared to the pain of adult braces
Yeah braces are hell. And there's no taking it out. I remember taking Advil before my tightening appointment because I knew I'd be in a lot of pain!
@@cuteprincess441 Actually, my sister removed her braces herself bc she was sick of the pain. Of course, her teeth gradually needed to be replaced w/dental implants. That was an expensive screw up!
@@cuteprincess441 i’m not sure why you had so much pain but i have braces and the only thing that hurt was the first 3 days and then the first day of power chains. other than that i have had no pain
Oh odd I never had pain with my braces - had to wait till I was 21 to get them because I had TMJ surgery and they cut both jaws and moved one forward and one back and the braces were helpful while they had to wire my jaw shut for 3 weeks. I did so badly want Invisalign as it's not cute an adult wearing braces
I had nightmares about the pain from braces for about a decade after I had them taken off. I had several sets of braces so it was a long term experience. I don't think the pain is well acknowledged and dealt with for a lot of us. My kids will be getting them at some point an I'm definitely going to be on top of their pain.
almost done. after 4000$ and 10 months. I didn't have any issues with staining or pain. You do need to take them out to drink anything but water. And brush and floss after meals. The attachments (buttons) on the teeth are annoying, but you get used to them after a few weeks. I actually like sleeping with them because I tend to grind my teeth and bite my tongue at night and they prevent that.
I like your videos! Please don't change a thing. I'm like 66 years old and you are helping to keep me young. You are almost the only KZheadr that I constantly wait for in new video's. Love ya!
I totally agree with shopping around for the best ortho AND the best price. I went to three and the difference in the cost was thousands.
Just came from your jaw surgery video and dang girl! You look stunning! Hope you’re happier with your results now-blessings 💕
Shelby, a video idea. You should do a video of not using your car for a week in Los Angeles when you get the chance for a video where you see if you can live in LA without a car. You should use the metro, buses, taxis, etc. Obviously I know it's possible to live there without a car but not easy so I think it would make for a fun video. Idk it's just an idea but I think it would be interesting. Keep up the good work!
omg great idea!!
That’s pretty unrealistic unless Uber counts.
I love this!!!
@@ShelbyChurch I did it in college and I'm in LA. Also fixed my teeth recently and bought a house (before the housing bubble) and invest too. I also know celebs here. We should collab
Yesss! Please make this video.
Your videos are always so interesting THANK YOU! 🙏🏻
Thank you so much for this! I’m going in to get my scans and stuff done in may to get them so thank you for the “reality check” if you will, i cannot wait❤️
I wore mine 22-23 hours a day! I brushed and flossed constantly -- had stuff at work at my desk, in my car, in my partner's car, in my purse -- EVERYWHERE. I don't eat breakfast so I just had morning coffee and stopped snacking entirely during treatment. I tried a little bit here and there but it was such a pain to have to brush and floss that I simply stopped. It felt really uncomfortable for me if I put my aligners on without a good floss and brush. If I had my aligners out for more than 30 minutes, my teeth got so sore so I actually credit that for my keeping them on so much. Overall, I am pleased with having done it! You really get into a rhythm and I started planning outings and food things towards the end of an aligner step when I knew my teeth would be at their most comfortable. That first aligner though.
Did you lose weight?
@@albaptist3385 I did! haha, the non snacking and just...not enjoying eating everything because it was difficult to bite into things (had to use my back teeth usually).
@@albaptist3385 I have!! I've only had my aligners 10 weeks and I've lost 8 lbs already! I know many people lose at first then gain it back. I'm trying to use this opportunity to continue eating healthy and truly appreciate the jump start!!😊
Just curious...I would like to do that. That sounds like it creates an environment for anaerobic bacteria to grow and maybe kill off good aerobic bacteria. Did you get any advice about that? I think I would like to do that because I mindlessly snack too 😂
@@sazonada you still pop them off if you drink any coffee or tea or eat. So for 5 mins here or 20 mins there or 30 here I would pop them off and floss and brush and pop them back on. I also had a separate toothbrush and aligner cleaner to clean that as well. And you change aligners every couple of weeks. So actually it's the absolute cleanest it has probably ever been 🤣. Keep in mind people have dentures and permanent retainers or regular braces that must be maintained regularly as well! Your teeth and mouth should be checked first to make sure there are no sores or inflammation and that treatment is appropriate for you. 22 hours a day just was the total amount I was wearing it but not 22 hours straight.
One thing Invisalign helped me to do was to stick to my diet. Because of the fact you try to always brush before you put them in, once they’re in, the act of eating would be a hassle, because of all the cleaning you would have to do again. So it’s great if you Intermittent Fast.
I lost 15 lbs my first six months wearing them. I’m a slow eater, and wanted to be fully compliant wearing them 22 hrs/day, as opposed to when I had traditional braces and wasn’t very compliant using my neck gear.
Yes I’m on tray 7 and was intermittent fasting on & off before Invisalign treatment & now I’m definitely on track with my diet too… I hope to see positive results on both my new smile & waistline 😃 💃🏽lol
I start mine soon I could stand to lose 15 pounds
Yes, it’s day 2 and I definitely agree, lol. I’m hoping to lose a few lbs in the process😂
This is the truth. You really have to think if those cookies are worth it 😂😂😂
It's a great video thank you for sharing 🤓 I just finished my Invisalign journey last week and I am super happy with the results. It’s def worth 6K$ and time to do so.
Thanks so much! You answered a lot of the questions I had. I had TMJ surgery and have an appointment for an Invisalign consultation next week. Wish me luck 🍀
Video starts @1:20 1. You have to get small attachments on your teeth. 2. They'll (the retainers) stain. be careful drinking coffee or consuming turmeric. Teeth & retainers will stain. 3. It hurts. 4. You may have a little bit of a lisp. 5. Always carry mouthwash. 6. Get a quote from multiple orthodontists, as the Invisalign price may vary (greatly). Extra from her Ortho: People are surprised by the day to day challenges of being so committed to actively wearing them. Have a committed mentality.
You're the MVP
Thanks for sharing!!Love your volg, the mood is so nice!
Shelby, your hair looks gorgeous! Love love love the colour, so beautiful 😍
Shelby thank you sooo much for this! Also can I mention how gorgeous and adorable your whole vibe is xo
This is the best video on the Invisalign journey I have seen on KZhead! Good job! 😊
Yes my Invisalign treatment cost around $5k in North Carolina before my adult ortho insurance coverage paid for part of it. This vid is very accurate!
I had Braces a couple of years ago, so when Shelby made a video about Invisalign. I immediately clicked!
So totally worth it! I am about to go into refinement and I will be done in less than a year total! Worth the pain and hassle.
I'm really glad I mainly drink water. I have heard of some horror stories of people drinking energy drinks with their Invisalign in and ruin their teeth. Hope the alignment is going well for you Shelby!
I used to have braces, and after many years, I had the option to go back to use braces or invisalign. I decided to use invisalign, because I hated how braces looked on me because of my small teeth. Let me tell you, invisalign doesn't hurt at all compared to braces. I am so happy that this option exists!
Which one better to choose? 10 years ago, I used to have braces. Seems I need to fix my teeth now😢
Your candid review was very helpful. Just got my Invisaligns last week and have already begun to change my daily routine to accommodate. Wish I’d thought of insurance beforehand!
I wish I went with Invisalign. I went with Smile Direct and it doesn't have the dentist check in and other factors. It was a disaster where I couldn't bite down because my top and bottom teeth wouldn't line up. It only made my teeth look straight from the front. They could never fix it and I was out thousands because of it.
I also used Smile Direct Club and didn't have any bite issues. My teeth turned out great. And I loved the treatment was only 5 months! But everyone's teeth are different.
Me to now my jaw is all jacked up and suffer from tmj
@@teslateacher2203 they actually have lots of lawsuits btw
ya i ALMOST went with them but I was like.. the cost of fixing any potential issues def more $$$ than invisalign, so I played it safe
Some people are fine using SDC, they are probably fine for people that previously had braces and then stopped using their retainer and just need a LITTLE adjustment. but they basically ONLY aim to straighten your teeth, and they don't do anything with bite they dont fix it, they dont consider it in the process, so if you already have a bad bite it can make it worse or not do anything and then you would still need something else, and if you have a good/fine bite, you CAN be fine or depending on how much room you have in your mouth etc, it can end up making your bite screwed up when it was previously fine. I looked into it a lot, I was going to get it I even went in to have my mouth scanned etc, but it had a lot of bad vibes all around it, and they really pushed and wanted me to pay/sign up before I left their office when I wouldn't even have the estimated results/preview of what my teeth would look like for a few days. I'm glad I said no and insisted I wait, because when I did get their rendering of what my teeth would look like it definitely pushed my teeth out and changed my bite.
This is a wonderful and very helpful video. I am 60 years old and just got light force braces seven months ago. They are a fairly new brace system and not sure that I would do them again - I would have gone with invisalign. The only reason is the HOOKS they put on - can be very painful sticking in your cheeks on the inside of your mouth. I use a lot of the dental was. I've been wearing the braces for seven months now and am not ready for the elastics... for the amount of money this is costing me I truly feel that the hooks shouldn't be put on until you are ready for the elastics.
Ahhhh so thankful for this video. I'm getting some at 26/27 and was nervous. I feel excited though after reading comments and this!
All so variable depending on your case. Some tips: start the new tray before bed and take an Advil that night. This way the movement starts while you sleep and pain will be reduced. Wear as much as possible, keep everything as clean as possible and yes people can wear it 22hrs, seriously. It sucks wearing the trays, but full on braces were waaaaay worse, especially at High School age. SO common now, people are not surprised by people wearing tray based orthodontic appliances.
Shelby!! I have Invisalign and I use the Colgate Wisp Max Fresh anytime I eat outside of home. Its super cool, keep your teeth clean and mouth feel suuper good! Iam about to finish my treatment and It’s definitely the best thing ever.!!!
Omg thank you for this video!! super helpful
Your videos are always amazing!
Great info. Shelby about Invisalign. I had braces because they said Invisalign would not fix my bite. I hope she gave you a discount for making her a video. That would have been nice.
Just finished my main Invisalign treatment. Wearing them for 22 hours a day wasn’t an issue. Just had to make sure to prep all my food & snacks ahead of time so that I spent less time with them off. Big tip is to constantly clean your trays and teeth especially after eating/drinking. Keep a tooth brush on you because eating out will guaranteed get food stuck in your attachments.
Thanks for this comment. I’m getting my Invisalign treatment started next week, and food prep was one of my big questions. I guess I’ll have to start planning my meals ahead of time like you said in order to spend as little time as possible with my retainers off.
@@alancantu2557 May I make a suggestion on keeping the aligners clean...in the morning when I'd take them out I put them in a plastic container with straight hydrogen peroxide. That cleans them much better than just brushing or the tablets similar to denture cleaner. Don't waste your money on that. I finished 2 years ago and continue to do that with my retainers and they are still clean. I was in my 60's when I started and can say one of the best decisions I ever made.
You dont have to brush your teeth 6 times a day just brush if you can but flossing and mouth wash is fine too. Just brush twice a day at least and keep aligners clean
I am getting Invisalign tomorrow! Thanks for the tips!
This was very informative!! Thank you Shelby
You nailed it with all the things I wish I knew. Wish I saw your video beforehand but you’re right! The process isn’t that bad. Side note: you seem so sweet and personable! Makes for something I want to keep watching.
Went through the whole process and it was well worth it!
I’m starting my Invisalign treatment next week and I’m really nervous. I know my anxiety is probably exaggerated, but this video helped answer some of the questions I had. I think the key will be to establish a routine and keep a toothbrush, mouthwash, and straws with me everywhere I go.
Dont do it!
Alan Cantu How are you doing? I started about 8 weeks ago. I'm doing well & just hoping the same for you. Let us know how your doing
How’s it going babe ?? I’m hoping great 😊
Good video with lots of very helpful info!
Shelby! I just got my Invisalign today yay
Shelby have you heard of the disposable toothbrushes? You don’t need water for them but you do need to spit after, but they would work fine for if you were outside and could spit somewhere after. They work really good for in the go! -Lexi a fellow Invisaligner :)
Great video. I wish I knew the trays would rub up against the gums and cause blisters in the beginning. Also did not know that we would have to wear a retainer for the rest of your life. Glad my insurance covered 100% though.
Ah yes, the first week hurt like crazy. I was worried I was going to be in pain for 2 years, but week 3 was so much better and it doesn't hurt now. Each new tray hurts a little and feels tight for about 24 - 36 hours, but then I just don't notice it.
Thanks for your response. This is my second day and I was thinking to myself earlier today do I have to go through this for two years🤦🏽♀️
Thanks! Today is my fourth day wearing invisalign and it hurts a lot, especially when I wake up in the morning...
@@irismarquinez You can do it!
I use Colgate Wisps on the go. They are little disposable toothbrushes with built in toothpaste. And they don’t need water or rinsing. They’re super great when you go out to eat and can’t actually brush your teeth.
Thank you for this video! I have been thinking about doing this and I feel a lot more informed!
Another day another vid for Shelby - lets goooo lol
Great video! I'm getting mine next week and didn't think about the effects of coffee. I think I'll switch to caffeinated mio
Thanks for this. I have an overlapping tooth that has been bugging me more recently than it has in the past. I'm going to speak to my dentist about it but I'm ideally just looking for tips on how to clean it better as opposed to any major correction. I've thought about Invisalign but never realised how much of a commitment it really is. I'd do it if my dentist thought it was gonna be the best option, but there's definitely more to consider than I'd thought about before.
I had overlapping on the bottom and in my first 21 trays they are all fixed but one that they will fix during refinement. Very much worth it.
In my first 40 trays I would drink coffee daily without any staining! Also I'm onto refinements (30 trays) and still need attachments on the front 4 :(
Hi Shelby 💗 I already see such a huge difference, you look beautiful 🤩 I’m on my last pair of Invisalign, and I’m in love with my smile 😍 the little attachments in the beginning were a bit sharp, and sometimes a new retainer cut my tongue, but it was only for a few days 😁 the pain after each new pair usually only lasted 1-2 days 😊 I’d recommend buying Whitefoam and use mouthwash, it kills of so much of the bacteria. Before that I had to clean it every day with soap 🧼 The lisp was real, but it gets better 😂 Totally worth it, I’d definitely recommend Invisalign to anyone! Ps. Try to wear it 22 hours a day for at least the first month 😂 Later on, it’s not that necessary 😁
Your hair looks absolutely gorgeous
Kind of you to share. Very helpful. Hope your NY experience is going well.
I wore clear ceramic braces on the top teeth and metal braces on the bottom. Many people didn't even realize I was wearing braces. I could not opt for Invisalign because my teeth required more moving than Invisalign could do. My braces cost $4,200. I had them off 7 years ago and have a permanent wire retainer on the back side of my lower teeth and a clear, removable retainer that I wear to bed. It's a lifetime commitment for anyone who does not want their teeth to move. Very happy with my choice and my orthodontist here in Virginia.
Interesting. For how long did u wear the braces? What about the pain?
@@quanta8382 as someone who had braces and is now getting invisalign because I was dumb and never used my retainer as a kid. Its pretty painful at first but like the video said it gets better.
Such a helpful video! Like you, I didn’t do extensive research so the lifestyle changes and daily commitment were a big surprise. I do have a question: Did you find removing the aligners difficult at first? I’ve only had them for a few days and I dread taking them out - if you have any tips on how to remove them easily, that would be a helpful video. Thank you!
I bought a big box of disposable toothbrushes that were pre-pasted (just add water) and individually packaged. That made it really easy to throw some in a tote, backpack, purse, etc. I'm done with Invisalign, but I still use those tootbrushes (and am able to share with someone who needs one).
Do u have a link for them? That sounds like a great ideA
Link?
I know there’s little disposable toothbrushes too that you can get from like Target or most stores. Maybe something worth looking into!
They don’t clean teeth, they’re basically like chewing gum. They just refresh your breath.
Fellow jaw surgery gal as well, Dr. Ray is also my orthodontist, and I can confirm she and her team are the best :)
Thanks for the comforting video! I just got mine, but for way lesser price in India about $2,500. Still its expensive for some. I have a bad dental health cos of over crowding teeth, hope this invisalign journey is for good!
I talked to my dentist about wearing my most recent tray while drinking coffee or red wine, to use it as a guard against staining. So if I have my 3rd tray and it's the most updated, I would take it out and put in my second tray to drink coffee. She said to make sure I'm using my most recent tray since it can shift my teeth the wrong way. Not sure if that makes sense but I plan on keeping my last tray in the end to block staining. ;)
Expensive for sure, definitely shop around!!
When I went to an orthodontist to see if I needed braces in December, I was told my bite and teeth aren't bad but would recommend getting them to fix a few "imperfections" I set up my appointment for January and was so excited to get them! I've then for almost 2 months and I enjoy adding color. I'm so glad I didn't do invisalign, too plain and boring in my opinion!
Sounds like your ortho just wanted to get some money from you...
Did you want braces? I’ve never heard of someone going to an orthodontist to “see if they needed braces” but rather to see how much braces were going to cost and how extensive the treatment would be. If I only had a few “imperfections” going to an orthodontist to have him point that out would be the last thing on my mind. This comment seems really weird to me. It’s like someone going to the doctor to ask them to search for a reason to need chemotherapy. People who need braces because of a serious bite problem or serious crowding or other dental issues would never think to go looking for a reason to need this kinds of a life altering treatment.
This video is really helpful!
i am just finishing my invisalign (7 more weeks of refinements) and agree with most of your points. it was really painful for the first few trays, i got swollen cheeks and had to take ibuprofen to be able to eat. it got significantly better over time. i also was able to have my attachments removed after my first set, which has been really nice. i think that depends on your orthodontist, though. my best advice is to try and just suck it up and have them in as much as humanly possible, i think that made a huge difference in my treatment going quickly!
oh, and sugar free gum for after eating while on the go! works even better than mouthwash, imo
Am I the only person that felt zero pain with Invisalign?
@@deepblack2193 same I have zero pain or headaches. I get chapped lips but that’s about it.
How long was you in the invisalign?
@Deep Black really...did they straighten fast?? What was ur outcome
This is a helpful video. Thank you.
thank you!!! i just got mine and it hurts like hell!! i am really hoping it will get better
I had braces for maybe 2-3 years and I’m SO thankful my dad did that for me. If I had to do it again, I’d probably just get braces because it seems like less work.
Same. My teeth have shifted a bit since I had braces 12-15 years ago and if I wanted to get them fixed again I'd just do metal braces again.
Amazing review, I’m on week one with invisalign 😬
Invisalign is awesome! They use state of the art 3D printing tech and custom resins! Always worth it vs the other options
We have that same program here in Chicago. I was blown away to see the hand held camera in action. Technology at its finest!!!!
Great video Shelby and very helpful in answering questions too! Your teeth are looking great!
I am on my seventh Invisalign tray and have had no problems with it. When I started it was a little achy but that only lasted three days. I’ve had no pain since. I just rinse my teeth after each meal and pop it back in as I find cleaning your teeth each time is bad for the tooth enamel especially after drinking red wine! I also purchased Outies through Amazon which makes removing them a doddle. I can’t believe how stressed I was before having these fitted but am so pleased I went ahead and did as it’s been so easy and I haven’t had to give up my red wine or my coffee!
Can you suggest what are outies?
I m so glad I found people that made it through this experience. I m so scared and so sick of fixing my TMJ and my teeth all the time. I hope this works, I really really can't handle any more
Look into Dentosophy
I currently have braces. Would highly recommend over Invisalign for people who struggle with routine and commitment.
Same with me i just got my invisalign this week so thanks for this video
Also: 1. You have to wear a nighttime retainer for life after your treatment 2. You have to floss brush after each meal 3. Sometimes you have to wear rubber bands which really suck 4. Treatment can go from 6 months to 2 years 5. You have to also brush your retainer itself since it holds bacteria
Right. And that is not such a big deal compared to the benefits. I am gratefull they invented this.
Something to factor in is that having to floss after every meal is probably going to do wonders for your gum health that you weren’t getting before
@@alexanderthegreat1270 THISSSS. i always had mediocre dental care before invisalign and my cleanings were always an hour of scraping off endless plaque/tartar. but the invisalign rules made me SO strict about flossing that i naturally kept doing it after. and my teeth are insanely healthy now lol
1. Not every night 2. No you don’t but its better to do so 3. Doesn’t happen quite often 4. Average 12 months 5. Or just use cleaning tablets 6. Go for suresmile in stead of invisalign
One thing that I didn't know when I got my braces off is you need to wear your retainer for the rest of your life when you sleep (or else your teeth will move). I got my braces off 10 years ago and I wore my retainer for 1.5 years and then stopped. My teeth still look good, but not as perfect as they were
Me too. My orthodontist never thought this was a vital information to tell me.
@@heavythinker16 I remember mine telling me to wear mine for a year and that's it. I'd always take off my retainers in my sleep so eventually I just gave up trying 😂
Yes! And wearing them every night, you have to keep them super clean constantly or they will cause cavities. Then when you get said cavities filled, they change the shape of the teeth and how the retainers sit in your mouth and now my teeth are crooked again 🙃🙃🙃
That’s exactly what I thought and did. After 20 years my teeth shifted even more, worse than before braces, & I got a hairline fracture from my poor bite. I forced that retainer on and my teeth straightened out again. But now I have huge gaps between my back teeth and my bite isn’t perfect. I think I have to start all over 😬
You have to wear retainer every night with invisalign also, they go back to their previous state pretty fast without it. Braces are a lot more effective and you’re advised to put permanent braces at the back of your teeth to keep them from moving later on. But invisalign just strikes me as something unhygienic per se. you have to constantly brush and floss your teeth after each meal/drink, or the bacteria will just multiply under the caps at superspeed.
I went with nighttime (only 10 consecutive hours) Byte Aligners instead of Invisialign because I only needed minor straightening of my teeth and it was more cost effective! As most people, I didn't continue wearing my retainer after getting braces about 5 years ago, but thankfully my teeth didn't shift much🙌🏽🙌🏽🙌🏽I also have to change trays each week, but I've had minimal discomfort.
Hi how was your experience with them? I’ve wanting to try them especially the overnight treatment please let me know anything that you feel comfortable sharing I would really appreciate it thank you 😘
I've had a similar experience and my teeth aren't bad but I'd like to know how Byte worked too.
Lmao byte is a joke
TYSM!! I want to get Invisalign too and you’re video really helped me! BTW I’m one of the OGs so a heart would be nice!
Started mine 2 months ago and you are right, the constant brushing is a hassle but I keep my eye on the prize and I'm looking forward to my improved smile! 😬
how’s the pain?
@@isabellatanner6544 it’s not that bad for me; I think I have a pretty high pain tolerance. But when I have a new set of trays it hurts when I’m taking them out. One thing I do is: I change to a new tray at night before bed. That way I am asleep for the first 8 hours of my teeth adjusting to a new position. ✌🏾
Thank you for the video. -_- I had braces in 2010 but I ended up removing them myself because I was monnnths behind so eventually I knew I needed them again. My teeth are straight buhhhht not how I want them. Anyway, got Invisalign in 2019 & am behind, again 😢but it’s so true about being committed and changing your lifestyle for the new journey. I really wish I would have gotten braces instead, but I’m glad I tried them out, bc I know if I would have gotten braces, I would have wondered about Invisalign.
As a dental assistant I’m surprised no one in the office told you about the attachments beforehand. Your orthodontist didn’t tell you?
Thanks!!! Great advise!!!!
😍 looking forward to try it
I went with SMILE DIRECT, and they don't have the connectors or any real check ups. It was easy to do online, though my problem is different than yours. My teeth were mildly crooked. Half-way through at the moment, and they work well so far. I look a lot better. Some trays hurt, some don't. My lisp was also pronounced at first--wife teased me mercilessly as if I was a nerdy school kid.
Some things to add that others may not know that wasn't in the video; Sometimes you may have angled attachments at the back and given bands to attach to them to help correct a bite. I brushed, flossed and mouthwashed after each meal. I also actually did wear them for 22/24 hours 😅 and dentists said my results were one of the best at the end 🎉. You just have to carry a small bag of dental stuff everywhere. Also after treatment you have to keep wearing it even if just at night - this becomes second nature. Overall Invisalign experience improves your dental hygiene even after done. Definitely worth it, but it's good not to know all the struggles beforehand or some may not proceed with it. But you would be glad you did at the end.
So they don't fix the problem, just move the teeth.
@Homemade Garden indefinitely, but after like a months you can wear only at nights and sometimes skip a night.
@Homemade Garden Yes and it's not a big deal, it's an afterthought. You would even prefer wearing it at night to be honest
@Homemade Garden no one tells you, but it's not a big deal. I felt the same when I found out. But it's like putting on your night clothes before sleeping and it keeps your teeth perfect. Much different than during the treatment as it's different texture and comfortable. They offer a permanent one you can install - DON'T GO FOR THAT
I love my retainers and wouldn't stop wearing it at night even if asked to
Great video! Another funny side benefit - I happen to be one of those super compliant patients. I put a timer on myself when I take them out throughout the day so I come as close as possible to the 22 hour guideline. What the means is NO MORE SNACKING! As a consequence, weight management is pretty easy! It would be interesting if someone did a study of invisalign as a weight management tool. Of course, this means that you are following the guidelines of keeping them in for 22 out of 24 hours!
The hope of weight loss was definitely a factor in my decision to get Invisalign. Thankfully, for me, I have not experienced any real pain yet. It just hurts a little to take them off.. which further reduces my desire to snack. :)
Hahaahahhaa. I agree
I had braces as a kid for about 2 years and noticed my teeth starting to shift a few years ago. I started Invisalign two weeks ago today and just put my second set of aligners in an hour or so ago. I definitely can't ignore that with new trays come new migraines and Fibromyalgia flare-ups. Really wasn't expecting this. I paid $3500 out of pocket though, so I'm just gonna have to grin and bear it.
How’s it going now? I’m doing so much research. I’ve had braces before and now thinking about Invisalign but still uncertain. Have you had braces prior?
Thank you! This helped so much and I’m getting Invisalign very soon and now I know what to expect while I have it.
Thanks for the info!
Yep definitely shop around. For my daughter we got quotes between $3000 and $8500
If you don't mind me asking you did you had to wear a splint before or after your jaw surgery as I am currently wearing a splint on my upper teeth and it pretty much looks like invaseline but it has some additional part to it which tends to lock my jaw in one position so that my joints don't click or pop as they normally do one a daily basis.
The retainer every night after you are done with trays - that was was the biggest surprise to me. But you get used to it.
Got great results from Invisalign and will wear at night the rest of my life to maintain. Storing in the refrigerator during the day prevents mold.
No. Think about it. Where do you find mold? In bright, dry and sunny conditions or in darkish, damp and cooler settings?
@@GoremeshI left the first pair in the bathroom, and it eventually turned black. The second pair in the refrigerator is still clear. Refrigerator air is very dry.
Wow nice idea but how can you store your tray in the refrigerator if they are to be worn for 22 hours a day?
After you complete your treatment, you wear them every night for life and do not wear them during the day.
Thank you for this!
How do you like your Tesla after few years of using it? I'd love to get it but this basic materials that interior is made of is kind of keeping me away from clicking that "place an order" button
I’m thinking of getting Invisalign just for my top row. What determines them needing to add the attachments or not? I just want to fill in a couple smaller gaps - do you think the will need the attachments? Thanks for making this video! 🙏
my sister in law said the tray changes didnt hurt for her, but she was changing every 2 weeks. like you, i was also changing every week and it HURT. not as bad towards the end but the first 4 - 5 Tray Change Days i was basically sore the whole day and planned to only eat soup or mashed potatoes for dinner cause my teeth were SO sensitive. my friends/family who'd never done it thought i was being a baby lol
I have to say, I kinda eat soft stuff, sometimes even chips, with Invisalign on to get to those 22/23h and I never had a problem. I ofc take it out and rinse it afterwards, but it's totally fine to eat with it (no hot or crunchy foods though), esp if like me you have to change it every 10 days
Thank you for sharing !!!
