Making Tire Changer Machine

I always wanted to have my own tire changer, I was able to buy a lot of used parts for an affordable price and I undertook to make this machine. The machine can handle wheels from 6" to 20" in diameter, and motorcycle wheels.
When making the table, I modeled it on the original table, thanks to which I had no problem with matching the jaws and pneumatic cylinders. The table was twisted on screws because in the first attempt to make it, I welded the hub, which caused deformation of the table.
Might add the air blaster for getting tire seated.... you got this far so its not even a challenge for you now. I have modified a few of these machines because of no mig welder or other nice welding tools. Even with all the stuff in front of me, the pattern is probably most important part of building one myself. I am seventy three so brain is slower than cold molasses. I started permanently in the southeast alaska islands right after coming home from nam in seventy. I was a diesel, gas, fab, welder, and not too bad of a story teller in those days. I did get my hands on a coats 40/40 tire machine that was rebuilt more times than letters in the alphabet. I then one day for no reason exception of boredom, make a larger one that handled the truck tires on "highway truck tires" but the off highway rims and tires were just manual labor intensive. Used a lot of starting fluid to seat tires back then. Of course the rule of thumb was bigger the easier applied most of the times. One weak link in yours is the foot controls will start leaking so needed to fix which meant removing the sides and fixing. I used a propane tank for air blaster to seat tires most of the times with most tires under the twenty four inch rim sizes. Just a simple all release of air in that tank would solve seating those tires to the rims. Teaching anyone how to determine the side up to mount and dismount. Lots of jokes about "are you from arkansas" were used on fellows who just didn't understand how dang easy its going to be if ya thought ahead. I best stop here as too long of comments are just that.... too long
Very nice build. I used to change tires. One suggestion to make the upper arm easier to work with. Try using a compression spring through OD of the rod so when you release the knob and push it over, the rod will move up out of the way instead of dropping down or holding it to lock it again.
Was going to write exactly this. Every professional machine is equipped with a spring like that.
I mentioned exactly the same thing once that is done it will be pretty good
Yup. Bead unroller should lift up when released, not fall down onto the rim. Not a large a mood work to make the modification, but a huge improvement in usability. The bead breaker might want another look, too, to cater for different tyre sizes. They’re usually at a compound angle, rather than straight on, too, to help draw the tyre away and avoid the bead falling into the rim and causing damage to the sidewall
Attach a Metal file with JB-weld' to a strong old sawzall blade' then to attach to the sawzall _ 'and maybe that could be part of a helpful File system?!
I applaud standing! You will hardly find such simple and excellent content. Well done, boy. No show-offs, no extra words, everything is clear! Bravo!!!
Thank you 😁
Apart from NO Dimensions being provided 😢
Could you imagine what things the guy could build with a CNC machine. Ive enjoyed every video this far. Excellent quality of work and design and craftsmanship. Thanks for the videos 9:37
Incredibly good job! Impressed with the patience with the build.
Superb video recording and editing. No high speed playback, no music. With tool and machine sounds.
Got to say I would figure it be cheaper to buy a used one. But sometimes it's the adventure along the way. You did a great job on it.
you are an experienced mechanic ! It can be seen from the way you make and arrange tire replacement tools that are efficient and practical to carry! Nice video ❤❤❤❤
Great job buddy! 😉
Thank you buddy 😁
Good job muy friends
I think the next tool you buy should be a vertical band saw. I will never need a tire changing machine, but I definitely enjoyed watching your build process. Thanks.
What an ambitious project. Kudos to you. Very well done mate!. As usual, better than store bought. Next, a spin balancer? .
Rất tuyệt vời luôn nhé bạn cảm thấy rất thích xem líp bạn rất mong được đồng hành cùng bạn nhé It's very great. I really enjoy watching the video. I look forward to accompanying you. Thank you for sharing.
That looked factory made. A really great project. Well done.
Essa máquina é profissional!!! Parabéns!!!
I watched this again. I have never been more impressed with a build Simply outstanding.
Enhorabuena.
Excellent fabrication job. You have great skill.
Another skilled Polish craftsman. Amazing skills and imagination. Great work
Wow! That is better quality then most high cost, mass produced ones I've seen and used! Excellent job 👍🇨🇦
Thank you 😁
Beautifully done, you tied in a lot in a small convenient footprint.
PRETTY WORK ! I was trained, most of my young life as a Machinist. I was raised in one and built a little shop but nothing as nice as what you have to operate. Be very proud of your shop and your skil level. Be sure to use your PPE, so you won't be hampered if something comes after you. Thanks for your video. I SUBBED. Bill, from Tn. 🇺🇸

*What a marvelous hands you’ve got* ! 👍👍
You have undertaken great job. Excellent! Would you be able to list the parts and where they could be bought from for the DIYers out there to try it??
Awesome build I bet parts weren't cheap but will pay off in time thanks for sharing
Now that's a tire changer! Lol! I finally have a working welder, but I need some more tools & material to do something like this... that's pretty amazing how much research into tire changers you had to do to build this thing! Excellent job! Wish I had one! 🖖🏿😎👍🏿
One of the most educational videos. Good job.
I think you did a fantastic job buddy. It looks really nice. Looking forward to seeing more of your work. 👍👍👍
That is amazing man. Now can you make a road force balancing machine as well?
I have been following for a while. And the things you build are absolutely brilliant. Now, all you need to make is a balancer. Keep up the great work.
Thank you 😁
Wow I was a tire fitter for a year or so in the 80's, I don't reckon the machines were half-way as nice as yours. Your a frigging genius
Thank you 😁
What an ambitious project. Kudos to you. Very well done mate!
Thank you 😁
Some people are such brilliant fabricators. Wish I had that gift. Guess you could post a plans list and instructions. Bad ass job !
I fund the channel I'm going to learn metalworking from .I'm Contractor I drive digging machines doing in concrete. All that kind of things. But I always wanted to learn how to do metal work. And you are very good at what you do. So i'm very happy to subscribe to your channel. Best regards from denmark to you and your family stay safe
Nicely done. Now that’s how to do a video. No talking just doing with no annoying accompaniment music 👍
Absolutely top notch workmanship!!! Art from Ohio
Great project!.....Great shop too...........wheels are a nice touch, ive been contemplating adding wheels to free up floor space.
Hi Good morning wow Super Made own Hand you are expert ❤ Super job Super ideas Super finish it Super paint ing Super Man Made God bless you ❤❤
One man factory, really appreciated your work.
I wish I had a tenth of your talent. Simply amazing watching you create. Thanks
Dziękuje 😁
Absolutely a lot of thought building this. You are a professional
Wow. Just wow. Very impressive work!!
Hy, great job, with good result. Kris
Support those that create amazing machines. Love it. ❤
Incredible, amazing build. I dont know how much one of those costs that a shop might buy, but I imagine you now have a professional machine for around 1/10th the cost ... now you can show us how to make even more amazing vehicles at an even faster upload rate 😎
Thank you 😁 When it comes to the cost of such a machine, if I had to buy all new parts, it would rather not pay off, but I managed to buy second-hand parts at auctions at affordable prices 😃 He's working on one of the vehicles now 😉
Skvělý projekt👍
The creative mind and fabrication abilities of some people amaze me!
This is fantastic, well done! If I hadn't seen the video, I would have thought it was a commercial product you bought, not built.
Thank you 😁
An excellent build of a fairly complex but very useful garage machine. I'm impressed how your from scratch machining and fabrication capabilities have progressively evolved from almost nothing to what you have now with each build (or rebuild of used machines like the lathe) each adding more and more capabilities. Your design, fabrication, machining and welding skill improvement since you started has been impressive.
Thank you for your appreciation, I have no education in the field of machining but I am interested in this subject and I am constantly trying to improve my skills even though not everything works out for me, I still make a lot of mistakes and sometimes make bad decisions when designing :)
A curious question. Watching how your designs go together got me to wonder what kind of conceptual and dimensional design process you use. Do you just make draft sketches with dimensions and update those in the shop or do you use a cad program.
That sir is an awesome video. You did a great job building your tire machine.
That is really great. Congratulations on the new tire changing machine.
So how many people can say they designed their own tire machine from the ground up? Excellent work.
Well, to be fair he actually didn't, he bought a lot of used part from the old machine, and he used the old table as a template to build the new one. He even says so in the description. 😊 But still an impressive build. He took a lot of old parts and build a brand new tire machine. 👍
Thank you 😁 Yes it's true I managed to buy a lot of used parts for not a lot of price for such a machine and that's why I decided to make a machine modeled on a factory machine 😁
Absolutely Brilliant, can i buy one. You are fabulous at fab work. I need this for my shop!! Amazing work! 🙏🙏
Nice work and that pop will get you every time
Holy moly! Awesome build! ❤
Most impressive build I've seen in a long time. Very nice.
Well Done! That is a fine tool you made. Bravo!
the result of very careful work, you can sell it to add extra income~malaysia boy🇲🇾
Brilliant job. Thanks for sharing.
Unbelievable, I've never seen anyone build such a masine from scratch. A lot of work. Congratulations.
From scratch)) it is joke.
M A C H I N E . Just ask someone how to spell it before embarrassing yourself.
Wowsers you build these things for a living very good work 👍
Ang galing nyu po malinis pagka gawa
So Incredibly Awesome!🏁_ 'now just needs to figure out how to make a balancer!'🤔 Thank you for the Really Great Video!'👍
The tooling for this project costs a great deal of money, Metalbandsaw, Mill, Lathe, quality Mig Flux Core welder, heavy bender etc. The stock looks like 12 ga or thicker. I do tire unmount/mount with a tractor tire bead breaker and a few old auto spring leaves ... keeps me fit :0)
Brilliant idea. A very useful machine. You just need to make one to balance the tires and you are set for life. 👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
Thank you 😁
Wow! Awesome build, If you ever travel to the US you are welcome to come and use my shop!
i'm floored...this is awesome
Wow that is awesome. I would love to see how you would build a manual. Here in the USA alot of people modifying harbor freight manual tire changers. I feel like it could be done even a little better.
I would love to do something like this. I weld and have mill and lathe and all the tools required and I’m a mechanic. I always design stuff up in cad with the intention of making it but then I realize the steel it uses to make it costs more than just buying the machine from china. Chinese equipment is cheaper than the metal it’s made out of just can’t beat it.
Excellent. I don't know if this is your own design, one modified, or someone else's-either way you've outdone yourself here. *Great job!*
Thank you 😁 I modeled myself on factory and professional machines. It may not be as professional as some shop machines, but it does the job it was made for 😀
@@WorkshopFromScratch How long (hours) did it take to make such a machine? Cost of materials? Thank you, Beautiful job. I have all the machines/welders/saws/lathe/BP. . Do you have Drawings? 👍
I suppose your are a qualified engineer. You must somewhere had the opportunity to gain experience in designing and manufacturing spesifick tools. Apart from all these it is an exellent job. Well done and receive my special congratulations. I would appreciate to be your henchman.
Master of his craft, genius.
Do you work from a drawing? Can you make them available for download? Youve created some wonderful equipment. I can fabricate from a drawing, I just cant make the drawing.
This is awesome!!! Great work
Amizing... Great build
Wow, this actually makes tire changing much easier
Unbelievable!! Nice job!!
A true master, he makes it look so easy. Top man
And here was me thinking i was clever welding up the ducks head for my little harbor freight tyre changer, great job buddy
Pensa num cara treinado! Valeu muito obrigado!
Your an artist at fabrication bro. Very cool.
If you take a couple of pipe And put a couple long bolts inside, you could make a fold up with 2 horse shoe type plate to set tire on bead breaker side and you could spin tire instead of lifting tire. When we’re young we can do the spin, look better than store bought, Great skills.
Destilando o Mundo, Parabéns pelo vídeo criativo. Alexania | Goias BRAZIL
That's just brilliant, dude! Fantastic work!!! 😃 Stay safe there with your family! 🖖😊
Thank you 😁
All you need now is a rim balance machine. Great video
Awesome work here, as always!
Thank you 😁
Dimming the weld in the video respect...😎👍
It's a nice job.....And all you will need to make this is a lathe and a Mill and a plasma cutter...oh and a fully equipped engineering workshop 😂😅
Jeszcze wyważarka i będzie komplet ;) świetna robota!!!
You are genius 👏 watching from Canada 🇨🇦 may i know much the price ❤❤❤
you've made a television, congrats!!!
Great video and excellent work!
Man, I just love your work!
Thank you 😁
