Underrated classic from Rafa 2009 AO journey ..Looking forward to his brisbane run for his 93rd title
hope he gets to 100
@@SimonJack94 yeah love to see it
Incredible match by Gilles, but Rafa's game that day was simply on another level.
Nadal at AO2009 was genuinely unbeatable from the baseline. No player in tennis history could’ve matched his baseline tennis. Maybe Novak’s serve could close the gap in like 2015ish, but Nadal’s defense and offense was unstoppable. Nadal hit 53 winners to 14 unforced errors against Tommy Haas, and his match against Verdasco was the highest quality tennis of all time in my opinion. He also destroyed 13 seed Gonzales in the 4th round.
That was coz AO 2009 court speed looked like a clay court which allowed him to run for balls and hit winners at ease...
It was a stellar performance and enjoyable to watch but players just got sucked into the baseline game at that point. No drop shots, lost so many opportunities to come to the net and having a solid backhand wasn't the norm. This Nadal won't survive in today's game.
@@adityasarang5755that is why they are big 3 they update their game according to conditions
@@adityasarang5755 This Nadal will straghit set any of todays players..his speed and court couverage was unreal and his body was more athletic and stronger now he is more fat and older so he is slower..in 2022 he was not even 20% of his 2009 level and he still won

Unbelievable tennis from the goat Rafa. This period of tennis he went through was immense. 2008 French Open completely dominated Roger, 2008 Wimbledon he defeated Roger in one of the best matches ever played. Then 2009 Aus Open defeated Roger in a thriller after Rafa defeated verdasco in the Semi in over 5 hours. Then 2010 defeated Novak at US Open. The man completed tennis at the age of 24! What a player 🐐
Don't forget 2008 Olympics gold medal which is a nice, rare title to have. Defeated Novak there as well.
5:20 Just Nadal doing Nadal things
Powerful. Nadal's 1st hard court grandslam
Nadal's court coverage at the 2008 Australian Open was probably the largest I've ever seen. This crazy movement felt like even Djokovic at his peak couldn't compare.
Simon played a great match but choked in the crucial stages
It's real gymnastics, performed by both 😮
They could make the effort and avoid mispelled Gilles's name
Nadal only passed the ball 😂😂
